PS5 Pro - 2024?

So they don't see the need yet they release games with ridiculously low native resolutions? lol Maybe they think upscaling from 720p is good enough but it's not lol.

Basically don't expect GTA to be running at 60FPS on the Pro
Again IF there isn't already a 60fps mode don't expect it on the Pro, if there is one it'll likely be more stable and have better visuals to go along with it on the Pro than on PS5 or Series X.

Yeah especially if it's just a 10% modest clock boost for the CPU. The bigger features will be AI machine upscaling and better visual settings for raytracing allowing for better image quality and smoother gameplay.

Exactly, it's an upgraded PS5 not a PS6 so it's not going to be a generational leap, but better image quality is a certainty and if they have a 60fps mode it'll look better on PS5 Pro than any other console, if it's 30fps only it'll probably be most rock solid 30fps of the bunch along with better visuals.

But Apple has shown us when you tig weld two chips together you make things ULTRA!!!!

- He says that PSSR is not a fork of the upcoming FSR 4 from AMD but totally developed by Sony.
- PS5 Pro CPU while being still on Zen 2 is engraved at 4 Nm so it gonna be denser than the base one.
- PS5 Pro could be smaller than the actual PS5 and between it and the PS5 Slim because of that.
- They could fit the 500 buck price tag if they want to.

Cooling may keep the price up though, it’s new board too.

New smaller nm format will help with the cooling because smaller die , less heat output etc. but we will see. The denser format could also increase heat but we will need a formal breakdown to see.

It would if it had the same power output, in assuming. But I’ll wait to see the tear downs

Usually is similar or bit higher to avoid overheating that's why there are constraints and is a delicate balancing on which hardware upgrades can be put in consoles

I like the sound of this

DF makes this thing sound like it's weak AF and not going to do much other than add 3 to 4 frames on certain games and a tiny amount of additional resolution. Hopefully there are visible reasons they can show us in games ahead of release to actually make us want it. At the moment, I don't see the point.

Honestly just give me 60 fps in every game and output at upscaled 4k with Raytracing and I will be a happy camper.

It's just the as games get more intensive graphically, it would be great to not have 360/PS3 native era resolutions anymore to hit 60 fps.

For me, I would prefer native 4K and RT in all my games. I am not worried about games being 60fps.

That's why I'm still not sure this thing is even a thing. It would not surprise me if this whole thing is a false rumor. My understanding is RT is still quite demanding, so it is going to take some horsepower to run it.

I mean, if they make one I'll buy it.

Jon at DF has seemingly flipped on the need for mid gen upgrades for the same reason many others have said they were needed all along, the more high end UE5 games coming out the more we see low native resolutions that impact image quality.

Not only are we getting a significantly more powerful GPU in comparison to what we have now along with a custom built upscaling system, the two combined could do some nice work depending on how well PSSR actually performs.

Anyone pretending this is supposed to be a PS6 type upgrade so they can act disappointed is being disingenuous and should know better. This is an upgraded PS5 not a new gen console.

Nobody on this forum has said anything of the sort.
