I just hope that the other exclusives perform well. Would f***ing suck if Ryse suffers from severe framedrops too, but i doubt that. This is Crytek and the gameplay videos all look very smooth. Killer Instinct and Forza 5 should be damn smooth too.

Killer Instinct and Forza 5 are a smooth 60 fps, I've played them.

Ok good good...but i definitely expected that too.

Man i ain't gonna lie..this is a let down for me. Especially because the developer stated it was locked at 30fps (correct me if i'm wrong) and that the reason it was 720p is to have the fps maintain smooth amongst other things. Earlier in its development it was for Xbox 360, right? Could that be a factor in this? And maybe the 'development tools' issue?

It's a launch title; I'm just going to go with "growing pains" most likely, especially considering the scale and depth of the title in comparison with others.

This is another episode of "Xbox One hysteria" - there were a lot of people playing the game in the recent weeks, I've only heard good things regarding the frame rate, I've played the game myself and thought that the framerate was smooth with all the things happening on screen at once... now there's this article and people are all over the place although the SAME people watched a lot of footage just recently and had nothing to complain.

I'm puzzled too because I thought that the problem had been solved - but until we get additional details and or impressions I trust my OWN EYES and they tell me that DR3 will be just fine

The problem is though that that DF have the footage to back up their claims. I am hoping it was an old build or something, but that is highly doubtful so close to release and reviews. It's odd that i don't really severe stuttering at the parts where it says 20 frames, or lower.

Wait. I see the frame drops at certain points (because of the display at the top right hand corner of the screen) of the game but you dont really notice it. It definitely doesnt LOOK as if the fame drops. I don't get it mate?

If the frame rate counter wasnt there on screen, you wouldn't know that there was a frame drop. Am I buggin out or something?

See I don't want to say that this test is all wrong - it's probably just not as bad as it sounds and you can watch a lot of footage to decide whether or not it's a problem for you.

For me it's not although it would be disappointing for sure.

If they didn't have a graph underneath showing a dip would you even realise the frame rate was dropping?

Couldn't give a flying donkey's balls what digital foundry have to say about it. I've seen the game in action, I know people who have played it, and I'll be playing it myself this Thursday. Every single person has said that this game is an absolute blast to play and the scale of it is most certainly next gen, despite comments to contrary in that review

Post of the Month.

Honestly...i don't think i would have no. But the thing is...i am watching this in a small Youtube video. How noticeable is that going to be on my 100 to 120 inch screen? (Projector)

Can you get us some new info from the latest build man?

I've got no info on the latest build, unfortunately. Only thing I've read is that devs have said DR3 is 30fps locked. I speculate that they may have had to reduce textures or made other graphical sacrifices to get to that point.

100 inch projector! You wanker. :-)

Honestly, at that size, who knows. But given the gamer feedback has been overwhelming positive, I'd say you have little to worry about. I'll update this thread again on Friday after I've played it for myself.

It's all about that bigscreen gaming and movie watching man ;) Going from 60 inch plasma to this is...quite amazing. Picture quality wise not exactly up there with plasma, but close enough. I look forward to your impressions.

What Projector you rocking ?

Wow.

When did they start the port on this game? This is unforgivable. I'd say wait until it hits $20 to get a good "their-effort:your-money ratio".

Like I said before, I'll take 720p at 60fps over 1080p at 30fps any day. Clearly 1080p60fps is preferred, but I never thought 720p/30fps would be something we would be talking about on these new consoles.... 720p/20-30fps with issues like this is mindblowing.

Optoma HD131xe :D

I painted my walls a darker colour the last few days, so that the contrast isn't totally ruined by my walls that used to be completely white. And in december i plan on buying a screen for it. Playing some Halo 4, BF3, GTA V or Skyrim on that is something else, wow.

Yeah, I miss the days when I had one. Had a 96" screen set up back on the original xbox.

That projector actually seems pretty good. How is the Motion( fast paced scenes and wide panning shots) and are you getting any rainbow effect.

The motion is what i have been most impressed with. I was afraid 30fps games would be terribruh on this, because it's such a huge screen, but those games actually are fine on it. Just sit saw from a decent enough distance. No rainbow effect, i had read about it but nope. I even did a test where i moved my eyes around the picture fast...nothing. Very good projector. What you said reminds me of my situation with the first Xbox. Xbox started on a Epson projector for me, but it wasn't HD. And when i saw a plasma in the stores i just had to get one. Projectors are now 1080p and they definitely are nearing HDTV quality now, maybe with a screen it will be on par.

Sounds good. It is well within my price range too. Will add it to my short list and see how it fairs :D

This is one reason why I look forward to gamers being able to record their own videos next gen. Going by the majority or over all opinion on a particular game holds a bit more credence for me personally.
Agreed. I hope they get around to incorporating social media features with the DVR capabilities soon.

Try the JVC's D-ILA 1080p projectors, amazing PQ. I have one of them and definitely think the pic. exceeds my 1080p led lcd in the other room, especially when movie watching. You have an optoma DLP there with the texas instrument chip that optoma uses in its line. It's a decent projector but i personally find the color expression a bit weak in dlp projectors, even if the image is using the full rgb color gamut. And rainbow effect is an inherent flaw of dlp technology, you may not notice it on your model with your viewing distance and vision, but to people with discerning eyes and those who are coming off using other technoligies do say that it's somewhat present. But lately the dlp projectors coming out have mitigated the effect to a minimum.

A screen would make the PQ a little better. If you're currently projecting on a blank wall, then hopefully you didn't get the wall painted a too bright color. A light colored wall is preferable. And when/if you are ready for a screen, do not just choose any screen because projecting material also has its own qualities, check up on avsforum for good quality projector screen recommendations.

I'm a little hesitant to believe this article, specifically the part about framerate dips to 20 or 16. So are they saying the x1 is having a hard time to maintain native 720p30? Didn't the developer say they were going for 720p so that they could have a stable framerate? Let's wait for the reviews to come in instead of jumping to conclusions over one hands on/preview from DF.

They started it on the 360 and moved it over to the xbone and CBOAT had DR3 as an xbox exclusive over a year ago now. Had to be during that window. I would suspect that may be playing a part. I suspect it would be better optimized if its development started on the new generation's hardware.

So glad that talk this Gen has become nothing more than framerate and resolution...

Isn't that the whole point of the new consoles?
What else you gonna talk about it?
We all want more powerful hardware so we can play in higher res with stable 60FPS.
Otherwise we can keep playing X360 and PS3, all this shows that new consoles specifically X1 are really weak!

Common any mid range PC since 3-4yrs ago can push 1080p 60fps with easy, its CPU not so GPu they have are just weak plane and simple mobile CPU's under 2ghz cant hold a handle to i3 not to mention i7.
So devs will have hard time ahead optimizing every drop possible just to get stable FPS and 1080p if!

Unfortunately that is the reality, which is disappointing having sub 1080p games in 2013, which me personally have been enjoying since 2003 on my PC.

resolution, while pathetic in 2013 to be below 1080p, won't stop you from enjoying the game.

framerate dips down to 16 even 10 fps is simply unacceptable though.
