The first Xbox One game from the makers of Castle Crashers features... a walking cupcake
http://www.totalxbox.com/79002/the-...f-castle-crashers-features-a-walking-cupcake/

On closer inspection, the cupcake is also visible in the original teaser artwork for "Game 4" - the artwork with the bulbous spiderwoman... thing. I've republished it below, so you can compare and contrast. Whatever it is, the project will be unveiled at RTX 2014, which begins today/tomorrow (delete as appropriate to timezone) in Austin, Texas.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare has already covered the story behind its singleplayer campaign. Now it's time for the real reason so many people buy it: The multiplayer, which developing studio Sledgehammer Games will discuss on Xbox Live from Gamescom in 10 days.
A special multiplayer reveal will be broadcast from Germany at the super-convenient time of 1 p.m. ET (which is 7 p.m. local time there) on Aug. 11, according to Xbox Live's community managers. The broadcast also will feature interviews with Sledgehammer staff and a premiere of the game's multiplayer trailer.

Video: Microsoft promises "big surprises" for Xbox One at Gamescom

http://www.totalxbox.com/79965/video-microsoft-promises-big-surprises-for-xbox-one-at-gamescom/

There's just a week or two to go till Gamescom kicks off in Cologne, Germany. It's Europe's own version of the E3 Expo - notable for its higher quantities of Sauerkraut and lower quantities of sunshine. Aoife and I will be covering the event for OXM. Aoife will also join Microsoft's Graeme "AceyBongos" Boyd and Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb on camera to present a variety of Microsoft briefings, at which we can expect "big surprises".

Microsoft's show begins on 11th August, 18.00 BST or 19.00 CEST, with the first public screening of Advanced Warfare's multiplayer. The main Xbox show briefing will take place on 12th August, at 13.00 BST or 14.00 CEST. Needless to say, you'll be able to watch it all here. For now, here's a teaser featuring the lovely Aoife and her lovely glamorous friends. If you look closely, you might see a sad, tired man in the background holding a coffee. The sad, tired man is me.

Europe is where the Xb1 is loosing big time, they need something big to get some gamers back.

I'm a fan of white for any console. Looks nice, less scratches and smudges on the glossy parts. I'd consider buying another Xbox One if they released it in white.

I prefer the white PS4 to the black one, but for some reason I like the black X1 better than the white one. I think it just has to do with the differences in design. Wouldn't mind having a white gamepad as a second controller though.

Sunset Overdrive should have had an exclusive orange X1. Now that would have been sweet.

My guess is it'll look like COD MP with some TF splashed in for good measure.

I think it looks nice but Black is definitely better for me. Black just looks better sitting in a media center.

I will try to get tickets this week. Finger crossed.

Oh and, big picture is big.

http://www.gamepur.com/news/15672-xbox-spain-list-xbox-one-349€-another-price-drop-announcement-incoming.html

It seems like Microsoft is all set to announce another price cut for Xbox One and official announcement might be made at GamesCom 2014. The official Xbox Spanish website (Mobile Version) listed Xbox One for 349€, as discovered by NeoGaf user Hydrargyrus. Take a look at the snapshot.

I do not read euros
This new move might come after the recent quaterly sales results where Microsoft's Xbox One is trailing behind Sony's Playstation 4 by a margin of atleast 3:1 (during Quaterly sales result ending June 30, Xbox One/Xbox 360 sold 1.1 million, whereas PS4/PS3 and PS2 sold 3.5 million units).
Xbox GamesCom 2014 Media Briefing will take place on August 12, so tighten your seat belt and expect some massive announcement from Microsoft.

move thread if its in the wrong place
http://www.gamespot.com/articles/how-microsoft-is-changing-the-nfl/1100-6421429/

The coming NFL season brings a noticeable change on the technology front. The NFL has formed a partnership with Microsoft that will put specially built versions of the Surface Pro 2 on each sideline and in the coaching boxes. This is not just product placement, though. Rather, this is an effort to modernize an element of the game that, until this season, relied on fax machines and telegraph wires to distribute important information.

First, an explanation of how things used to work. When a team is no longer on offense, the quarterback heads to the sidelines to review what just occurred. He is given printouts of player alignment before the ball was snapped, and he analyzes these with coaches to determine how the other team is playing defense. This situation happens dozens of times throughout a game, with a variety of positions and coaches looking at this information.
Now, instead of those reports being delivered on paper, players and coaches will be able to review what just happened with a Surface Pro. Called the "Sideline Viewing System," this streamlines a process that fans may not notice, but is imperative for strategical changes. For instance, it can take up to 45 seconds for a fax to print out, whereas information can be transmitted to the surface within five seconds.
Other elements will seem second nature for those using smart devices. Players can pinch and zoom to see details that would have been harder to make out on a static piece of paper, and draw route reminders, strategy shifts, or any other pertinent information. And tablets, unlike their paper counterparts, are in full color. Any changes can be immediately saved so coaches and players can quickly refer to past plays to see what occurred.

One thing that is absent from these surfaces is video. It was agreed by the NFL rule makers that video would give a competitive advantage that isn't present when viewing still photos. Instead, this is meant to make the old process more efficient by eliminating the clunkier element of handling paper rather than bestowing a tangible advantage to quarterbacks or coaches. There are no outside apps, either, that could interfere with the game. So players will not be able to use the internet to gain information that could help them on the field.
The tablets being used during NFL games are different than those that are available to consumers. They come with a hard case that can withstand more punishment than the typical person would typically dish out, though it will still break if, say, a lineman stands on it. It's also able to withstand rain and cold, along with extreme temperatures. There's no comment if such changes will make it into a consumer product down the road, however.

Microsoft has a new NFL app for Xbox One and Windows 8
http://www.engadget.com/2014/08/03/microsoft-xbox-one-windows-8-nfl-app/

The start of a new NFL season is just around the corner, and Microsoft's been working hard to improve the experience for football fans on the Xbox One. What's different now, among other things, is that the company's NFL application is expected to be ready by Week 1; as opposed to last year, when it showed up in Week 12 because of the timing of the Xbox One's launch. This time out, there are a lot more features too, with Fantasy Football and NFL Now, the league's upcoming online video service, playing a huge role in the refreshed version. First and foremost, Microsoft wants its NFL app to feel like your own, which is why it lets you personalize it with content from team and players you're interested in, as well as different media provided by NFL Network, NFL RedZone, NFL Sunday Ticket and, of course, NFL Now.

As far as Fantasy Football goes, the Xbox One now gives you quick access to a ton of stuff, including a feed of recent events (such as a touchdown catch by one of your receivers), exclusive in-game highlights and the ability to manage teams, all right from inside the app. At the moment, fantasy data is still only integrating with NFL.com leagues, but Microsoft did tell Engadget it's constantly working to bring more services into the fold -- think Yahoo Sports or ESPN's fantasy offerings. Not surprisingly, the NFL League Feed (pictured above) takes advantage of core Xbox One features like Snap, allowing you to easily keep track of your Fantasy Football stats, even while you're playing a game or, you know, watching an actual NFL matchup.

Furthermore, the very same application is also coming to Windows 8 devices for the first time. And although differences between platforms do exist, like no HDMI-in TV signal on tablets or PCs, a Microsoft representative told us that the NFL for Windows 8 and Xbox One apps are indeed the same, a universal one, if you will. Conversely, Xbox 360 owners can expect similar functionality to what's available already -- though there is going to be the addition of NFL Now, which brings more on-demand content from the National Football League to the aging console.

Microsoft has promised that its NFL-rich app will arrive in time for the regular season, both on Xbox One and Windows 8, but a "late August" delivery is what it is willing to commit to for now. Don't you worry, it'll be here soon enough.

They need to also bundle fifa 15 and have some deal with European soccer similar to the NFL deal in the US.

They need to also bundle fifa 15 and have some deal with European soccer similar to the NFL deal in the US.

For the people in the US that are scratching their head over this Euro news, 50 euros is nearly the equivalent of the price of a game in Europe, so that's a very attractive price cut and this would make the X1 cheaper than the PS4. Last week I saw that the X1 (without Kinect) and PS4 were being sold for € 399,- at a major local electronics retailer.

There are still September pre-order Day One bundels for X1 being sold at €499 with Kinect and Forza 5 + Fifa 15 or the same deal for €399 without Kinect. The price wars are in full swing. Really good news for us gamers.
