Reports of PS4 hardware issues.

So it was in the middle of an update why was he pushing the power button lol? Also, same cable box, looks like almost same TV and possibly same TV stand as me lol.

Oh s*** the red bar of death!

Hopefully it will just be a small %

Not me. Random gaffer.

dat RLOD.

Thats overheating though, right?

Yep overheating, wonder if he's been hammering it?

Side note that clock is REALLY loud!

Actually he updated, said the fans aren't working on the console; so yeah instant overheating pretty much.

So apart from some PSN issues is everything going ok for those that have one?

(Looks at post history of above poster.)

Oh hey, glad you jumped the fence to post here. Hmm, yea...it certainly looks like doom and gloom for PS4. For sure. (*yawn*)

(Another one bites the dust onto my Ignore list)
Lol. You don't think this is potentually really bad for Sony? I don't post on the Sony forum because I honestly don't have much to post about and I'm not going to come here to troll. Is this Southpark or real life? "Get back on the othet side of the line, fella!" It's all one community to me. I do read the PS forums. I honestly think this is a very bad thing and it may not only hurt gamers, but also Sony.

Damn, I hate console wars and blinded poeple. WTF?

I didn't notice my ps4 being loud at all. Maybe I was just too excited to hear it?

Yea my ps4 was no where near that loud, maybe he was still installing the game or something?

Sorry if posted but Kotaku's PS4 problem discussed.

Surprised Kotaku had no insight to actually consider their HDMI cable connection may not have been a good connection?

I was expecting to see more issues after the few earlybirds twitched their problems but it seems for the most part people are up and running...great to see! There does seem to be a void of people posting how awesome any of the games are - either they are too busy having fun (I hope) or there is a bit of a letdown after 6 months of hype that the launch titles aren't really delivering anything outstanding. I suppose I'm being a little premature in figuring this out but last launch 7-8 years ago seemed to have a lot more hype with midnight launch riots and tons of posts about the games. Not even seeing much local/national news coverage of the launch.

Maybe the majority are waiting on at-home deliveries this go around as opposed to the last one. Hope to see things pick up throughout the day today.

That's pretty much how my PS3 sounded for the last few months of its life.
Yeah I would suggest to EVERYONE with any issues like not booting, powering off or loudness issues to take it back and swap it straight away that's the start of the end imo.

As an engineer, I can explain the possible causea of the wobbling. I do not have a PS4, so these are just guesses.
When you make large pastic parts, it will warp, meaning, that it create a slight curve & not straight. This effect can be reduce, but hard to eliminated. The latter is actually not need, for the very fact that the surface the unit may be placed on may not be full flat anyway.
Other possible explanation, is internal stress. When you need to screw things together, for instance, unless the screw surface perfectly in line, will have deformation, as the screw force the surface to match. This effect is worse when you have parts that are of different material, Classically metal with plastic, even one type of plastic to another, due to different sinkage/expension due to heat. Talking about heat, if PS4 is as overheating as mention, the wobbling will get worst!
Having said all that, unless the curving is massive, the simple solution is to have rubber stopper at the bottom of the console, not unlike the ones people put for chairs & table, & anything with 4 legs. I will be surprise if they do not have these, just to save on a few cents.
As an engineer, I would be ashame to tell people that my design wobble as bad as the gif picture, if true. These is the type of quality you expect from Chinese knock off electronics.
Having said all these, its not a deal breaker for me to get a console. Even if you happen to live in area where vibrations are common, you can just buy some more rubber to put under, & call it a day. Its certainly an engineering joke, but not a deal breaker, & you can be sure they will fix this in new batch, probably with bigger rubbers.

So I saw two PS4 controllers outside of the package so far today and both were recently set up, both looked like someone chewed on the left analog a bit. Maybe PS4 controllers are tasty?

.

Well,
Many people think ahve mention that the 2 ends of the PS4 controller looks like a certain part of the human body, Maybe people take it too literally & try to suck it, resulting in rubber worn off,

But Jesus, do they look like thumbs!

Nothing's warped. It's horrible foot placement. The feet are placed in the middle of the console and then only in the middle of one edge from what I've seen.

Don't worry the blue light is so bright it reflects on the screen ;)

Pretty sure other games use it for stuff?
Real question, anyone that already have a PS4, can tell me if the reflection off TV screen for the blue light is an issue?

I agree, its not warping due to heat being the cause of an issue here, the majority of the weight is between the two cushions, thus they didn't think they needed the additional cushion on the other end. You have to apply a fair amount of pressure to make it "wobble". I feel its more of a PR issue than i believe its a design problem. Meaning its not wobbling on its own but looks horrible in a GIF. They should have spent the additional 2 cents to avoid the PR aspect of it.

I do want to add starseeker is correct about what heat can do to the forum factor, but in this case its the foot placement choice that is to "blame".

I would like to know this as well. And how far away from the screen you are when playing. If you are like 3-4 feet away then i wouldn't be surprised. If you are 10-15 feet away then that is a big deal to me.

Who games 10-15 feet away? I have 20/10 vision with contacts and it would be impossible for me to game from that distance. I used to be 8ft away. Then I brought a chair right up to my TV and it's about 5ft max away from screen. It opened up the world of FPS for me. I don't suck as hard as I used to.
