Reports of PS4 hardware issues.

I'm seriously contemplating on modding my PS4 within the first week to open more air for the fan to suck from the outside.

I have mine sitting on an open-air glass shelf. Plenty of room on all sides and heat is dissipating below as well. Seems to be running well.

My PS4 is about as loud as my PS3 slim. Nowhere near the jet engine noise of a launch PS3.

I've never denied that it needs good ventilation, btw.

My ps4 isn't loud at all and I don't see any light on my tv and I had to sit pretty damn close considering that usb cable is bulls*** and the controller doesn't come pre charged.

Mine isn't at all and I sit pretty close the the television, then again I don't have a glossy screen either.

I practically have to put the controller to the tv to see any glow. I actually expected it to be more of a problem. If someone has a plasma or any glossy screen maybe it would be different

Just load it up with LEDs and glitter then post pics. Racing stripes maybe too much.

You can probably remove the feet but I'll be there will be a heat issue. However small, the gap, there will need to be some airflow underneath to help dissipate heat.

well for f*** sakes WTF are people doing to the thing humping it? once you lay it down in your AV shelf it'll never move again unless you move it. Seems to be a huge non issue.

LOL, this thing is a giant POS.

BS GTFO. One will have the same issue everyone has a phone to upload video of their bad console now. s*** just has a failure rate that is life. So far it's not proven PS4 has a mass hardware issue. maybe it will in the future who knows but right now no proof of that.

Hardware issues are well under accepted defect rates of 3%.
The feet are deliberately placed unevenly.
No overheating issues with proper ventilation.

Try harder.

The big common problem that I am seeing is the pulsing blue light of death. The thread on the Sony support forums just keeps getting bigger and bigger! And that's JUST the ones that have gone in there and reported it. What is REALLY concerning to me ((and the tall tale sign that this is a larger issue)) Almost all of them are reporting 1.5-2, even 3 hour wait times for customer support. Now, while I do agree that this could be related to multiple problems people are experiencing, I don't think I have EVER had to wait for 2 hours to get tech support.. that's insane! They are also a lot of them reporting long turnaround times.

I don't want to start a console bashing war, but a as a future PS4 consumer this has got me a little curious. Im glad I held off, and hope they get all the bugs worked out by early next year.

If they ship a million consoles and the defect rate is even 1%, that's a potential 10000 people complaining on social media.

Wow, really? Am I really being insulted for pointing out obvious facts that apply to all mass produced electronics? Bizarro forum world strikes again, where the knowledgeable are attacked for stating info that's very well accepted elsewhere.

Im just giving the link of ONE social media site, and there is a good chance many wont even use the social media to report their problems.. then there is the case of the ones who are too "proud" to report their problem and therefore the reason I was worried about the extremely long wait times with tech support.

Dont freak out, everyone just needs to realize there is obviously an issue and keep on Sony about it so they will expedite a fix asap.

I'd bet mainstream media will start reporting on it probably by Sunday if this keeps up...

IMHO I thought it was extremely strange that we didn't see any units in public prior to launch.. (went out again and still haven't seen demo workstations yet)....

Seems like the hardware issues are getting tad too bigger than Sony and PS4 users would have liked. Needs to be fixed as soon as possible...

If that is genuine feedback, it's bad news for Sony. It's so hard to tell nowadays, though, since there are so many instances of fanboys going on campaigns to trash things with negative reviews.

Still, the PS forums seem to have a LOT of people filing complaints. I'm wondering if we are not climbing well above the expected 3% failure rate. I don't know. I think it will be a while before we have reliable numbers.
