If the ps3 had released the same time the Xbox 360 released the Xbox 360 still would have sold 10.4 million within the same time frame as the Xbox one?

Well, PS3 released with 360 is purely acedamic & nevertheless it doesn't change what hard_land said. Flynn mentioned X1 sold better, of course if PS3 release at same time frame it will make an impact, but it doesn't change the defination of Sold more.
Selling more is a quantifiable statement in maths
X1 sales - X360 sales = Positive number. (sell more)
X1 sales - X360 sales = negative number. (sell less)
However, if Flynn said, X1 sold well compare to x360 factoring competition from PS4, then its a different story, in which X1 can actually sold less. Sold well is not a direct quantifiable math statement, its can be an opinion, or it can be a logical formular with factors & variables etc.

I actually miss some of that ridiculous old TXB drama, sometimes. We've got things so civilized now, it can get a little dull. It's good to get a dose of that old craziness every once in a while. Reminds us of our roots.

No tears. Why would PS4 fans cry when world wide, the PS4 has still been outselling XB1. Get that? Why would the winners be crying?
If anything, the fact that XB1s are beginning to drop in sales again should have XB1 fans crying. I mean, PS4 is back at #5 on Amazon, with XB1 down to # 20.
lol. Halo fans came out to buy an XB1 in a certain region, and the fans have convinced themselves of a massive victory.
Because this whole sales comparison thread is really just one big digital beauty pageant, and you know it!
Because that's what people who get emotional over plastic do. PS fans can't accept that Xbox is here to stay. They're always trying to spin a positive into a negative.
Why would Xbox fans be crying? The X1 has sold over 10 million. It's a big success and we have the best games. What's not to love? Who cares what the sales say. There are millions of people who like Xbox more. Get that?
And there are millions more who like the PS4 more.
No matter how you cut it, there will be tears from both camps, and from the looks of it, much more tears from those that have a hard time accepting that more people prefer the PS4.
yes, the Xb1 is a huge success and has good games. NO ONE has denied that, however, the PS4 has been a bigger success with better games. With that said, we get great gaming all around, no one should have any tears. It's all good.

You omited "with better games" from my post claiming that that's how to make a post that isn't slighting the XB1. Yet, he said the VERY SAME THING:
