Its basically what Destiny was meant to be.
I don't think that's remotely close; one of those games is a persistent, shared world online game and the other is a DLC wallet grind.

I’m hoping to see more depth as well but my point is the beta isn’t supposed to reveal all that. If the game is shallow on release, by all means blast away.

So its not good?It isn't just the beta, though. Like I stated in the post, all the marketing up to now hasn't shown anything different either. No other game I have the played the beta of has done that.
The game is only 2 months away.
So its not good?
Im more referring to the aim of Jason Jones is that Destiny was supposed to be an emergent game where 'players make their own stories'. Just browsing the Beta topics online lots of people have their stories to tell in Sea of Thieves.
Well I've playing it recently and more times than not, I usually go back to using the original cast of operators compared to the ones obtained in the year to year DLC passes.Siege is a rare exception and they have went overboard with its support which is also rare.
I'm going to predict that when this game finally arrives, it will not only be a hit, but it will continue have many active users that won't drop as much over time as most games do. In fact, I think the user attachment will keep rising for a while. It's highly addictive! Some people have said that the t. alpha and betas don't have enough to do. I'd say that is one way to look at it.... But you could also say that there's an infinite way each play session could go. The battles themselves, make this game completely fascinating, which is like a completely different game from the quests. I'm sure that the quests are supposed to be easy at first. That's the real progression of the game. The pirate encounters are there as the most awesome distraction in a game that I've ever encountered. I just love how they have mixed it all together!
Anyway, after playing the beta a third time last night, I have to say that there's actually everything to do. If you're not busy most of the time, you aren't playing this game right.
Oh, is that why on my last play session, the ship kept getting damaged and partially flooding for seemingly no reason? I thought it was really weird that the crew kept their chest way out on the edge of bowsprit. They all seemed to really know what they were doing, yet they were all only communicating with the visual prompts. Maybe they were just on their own party chat. I'm not sure. I don't think you can get that good at the game without heavily communicating. The whole dynamic of cursed chests keeps things interesting too, it seems. I love the idea of the crying chest filling your ship with water, or the chest that you can't let go of. Good stuff. If they can keep integrating modifiers like that, it can go a long way to making the game interesting to play continually. I think they are right to focus on the main structural aspects and then dive into the subsequent things that make it worth coming back to.
With this big media event that they just ran, I think we're going to learn about a lot that we don't know. Some have said that the beta is pretty much the final game, but this basic game loop has been running in the alpha for a year now. I imagine that there's got to be more to it than this as theyve had a year to add things.
Like in some if the trailers we see a skull cloud with glowing eyes. Could that be like a public event were you can team up and fight a giant sea monster or a powerful ghost ship? Who knows. Maybe it was just something to look cool in the trailer, but it's been in more than one trailer.
I freely admit that I could be wrong, but I'm sure hopefully that I'm right.

...and that's like, you're opinion, man.If the betga voyage and progresssion system isn't massively improved then nope. If it isn't, then the on'y fun thing is ship battles. I doubt that will keep many playing.
It will sell well but based on the beta I reckon the active user number will shrink pretty quickly. Again, that is based on the beta.
Is that good, bad or expected?332,052 people played the beta
