I know the game isn't called Ass Creed Unity, so I apologize, but there's just something about Ass Creed I get a kick out of.
Anyway, I beat Unity over the weekend. I beat it on Saturday. I then beat Dead Kings on Sunday. It's the first Ass Creed game I played until the credits. I want to say I typically get bored with the games, but I've only played the first one and Black Flag, so I don't know if they're all boring. How many AC games exist? Like 7? I don't know. Man, I really can't think of these games without google. You have AC1, 2, some spin-off game? Another spin-off game? There's the 3rd one. The Vita game. Pirate game. Another pirate game? And Unity. 9 games? Really?
Moving on, first one so boring. Sometimes, if the first game in an eventual series doesn't do it for me, that's it. I'm done. I skip the rest. It happened with Gears of War, and it almost happened with Dead Space. Untenably I've played all the COD games.
After not finishing the first game, I didn't bother again until Black Flag. Which, eventually, I found boring. I bought it because what else was I supposed to get when the PS4 launched? It was even being considered a must-have of some sort on PS4. So, I bought it. I enjoyed sailing around. I like pirates fine. But, the game didn't have a sense of urgency. I just found myself on a deserted island half the time, hunting some animal for no reason. Plus the combat was pretty s***. I've seen that gif of what's his name kicking ass on a pirate ship and I don't believe it.
Unity, for whatever reason, I really enjoyed. And yet, I think I skipped like 60% of the game. Maybe that's why I really enjoyed it.
Countless chests remain shut, numerous quests await, a bunch of other icons just litter the map. Seriously, look at this:
What's even more soul crushing than seeing that map, was seeing that map after just wrapping up Far Cry 4 and Shadow of Mordor.
As shallow as this is, it was the graphics that kept me playing at the beginning. And the middle. I know this game was hammered when it came out, but after an obscene 11 gig patch, the game runs pretty well. Paris? Absolutely fantastic. I really wanted to explore the city. Yeah, a lot of the NPCs looked, well, identical at times, and they didn't always behave in a way that made any sense, but damn it, I loved seeing the streets packed with people. I actually felt like I was playing the game they showed me in the CGI debut trailer:
I really couldn't tell you what the story was about. I inexplicably was in the middle ages near the end of the game. I was taken in enough with the graphics and city to continue playing.
I'm not sure if this is a recommendation post. Doesn't feel like one. I felt like posting about it though because I'm surprised I beat this game. Anyone else play through it? Thoughts?
