So I went and bought a Wii U

They will not fail you, but holy s*** at the or someone failing me, another xbox thread i can't post in. I really hope I'm not the only one who can't post in the dx12 thread, it's getting incredibly unfair that the people like mcmasters can openly post in there but I can't. Feels like in I'm russia or something. Can we re vote for a new president or something. thank you blue.

This isn't really the thread for that, but as you have noticed, that thread is closed.

Let's keep it on topic: how awesome the deal was, and how I'll have a Wii U tomorrow.

I'm still weary to get a Wii U, the sales are really drastically low. I kind of feel they are going to have a huge over haul or a new system of some sort.

Sales has never equaled fun to me. Wii U has the best 8th gen lineup right now and that wont be changing anytime soon.

That isn't really my meaning, I expect them to do a rebranding, pricing of something. This is one of the worst selling consoles of all time. I mean, you basically have to get near Turo Duo, Jaguar, 3do levels to have one near what it has sold and that is obviously a meaning for lack of games. Even though it may have a few more titles than PS4/x1 now, yeah that makes sense with how long it's been out, but it's barely better and that's saying something. Sales do matter, it's a little bad when I can't think of 10 games I want for a console, I can easily get 10 games for most consoles that were ever created. I think people have a bit of a misunderstanding about the Wii U, when people say it doesn't have games, they mean "games" like 10 to 20 games they like. Compare that to most consoles in the first two years and they had a ton of games i wanted to play. That is the problem with the wii U sadly.

I do want Mario Kart, but this thing barely has a main line mario game I care about, still doesn't have a zelda and I don't even like Smash. Now, I know a lot of people like that game and that is perfectly fine, but let's not kid our selves, even the gamecube, or n64 with half a line up destroys the wii u, wii also makes it look extremly bad. I don't see how anyone could hardly be a wii u owner, but if you have a ps3 or something. A wii U is ok of course. I do want to play mario kart, and if there was a new wave race and star fox I'd get it no matter what. I sort of feel I'd just be buying it for Mario Kart right now though.

I'd assume this is some of the reason blue also held off, as he does play a wide range of games. Hype of Mario Kart would get me too, I just don't have the extra money to get the system now.

I've pretty much held off because the Wii was a Nintendo only machine for me. The Gamecube had a lot of titles that were 3rd party that I wanted to play, and became my preferred machine to play PSO on as well.

The Wii was just a disappointment. By the time Galaxy came out, I had lost all interest. The DS had a better version of Mario Kart. I found the Smash installment lackluster. I didn't care for Twilight Princess, and I didn't bother with Skyward Sword because I wasn't interested in the motion controls. I could go on, but you get the idea. When a system becomes regulated to "the bowling machine," you know it isn't working out.

The Wii U now has enough available games that I want to play that I can justify picking one up. I have great interest in 3D world--I think it looks fantastic. Pikmin 3 I'll be picking up once I clear out some of my backlog. I'll play through NSMBU for sure. WW101 looks amazing and it is like 20 bucks now. I'll definitely give the new Donkey Kong a go. And from what I've seen of the new MK, this looks like an entry I don't want to skip.

So yeah, games are definitely the reason why I buy a console. That and I love new s***.

The new mario deflated my hype in Wii U. I was ready to be blown away, or atleast touched. After I saw it was basically a simple somewhat gimped game with co op, it killed all hype I had in getting Wii U. I'd say, I enjoyed what I saw out of the Wii Line up so so much more... I mean we had things like Klonoa, Dead Space, Resident Evil, House of the Dead, Nights, Silent Hill, ...and goes on and on. I think Wii was fantastic on the software side, way way beyond Wii U for me for many obvious reasons. I raelly have to dig super hard to find Wii U games I want, such as... well the games I would buy without doubt would be

Donkey Kong

I'm really sad not only to see the direction of Nintendo games on Wii, but it's even worse for Wii U so far for me. I guess 3DS would suit me game wise.. but those small handhelds cramp me up pretty big.

Mario 3D World is amazing, not quite as great as Mario Galaxy 2 but still amazing.

I was expecting something on the level of a story exploring adventure for the new super mario. Along the lines of a impressive and deep Mario 64, with explorting and being in a huge world. I had a dream about that, so it kind of ruined it all for me haha. Was thinking it would be huge and have worlds sort of themed out like Mario 3. Each oen of them being huge and having sub areas for just exploring and collectibles with other areas having actual levels, castles and bosses. I think an adventure platformer would be amazing, and the mario world would fit that so perfectly. Oh well, maybe one day. Parts of the game would be set-up much like Mario 64, open big but better. Then you would have connected parts that are just for getting through, huge deep and beautiful. using a arrary of skill sets.

See I liked the Galaxy games and 3D World more than Mario 64, I thought it was great at the time but love the newer games much more.

None of those games have the explorting I'm talking about. My idea is almost like Zelda like, but with platforming and traversing as the main goal. Maybe with some mariosh city's thrown in with visuals that really fit that. I know mario has never had that, and it takes away from the pure mechanics a little, but I think if done right it could be fantastic to have that inbetween collecting.

I know those Mario games don't have the explorting you're talking about, I was just saying I like them better than 64.:tounge: A 3D Mario adventure game does sound sweet though.

yeah, it's about the art, the city's. Mushroom kingdom, and other areas from the lore. Would be the pinnacle of platforming/adventure games because of the rich history, characters and worlds. But I'd also like to see it with high end visuals, visuals that actually push us forward, near cg, something the Wii or even ps4 can't do.

Sooo attempted delivery today, but since I wasn't there, it's now available for pick-up at my local post office. It'll be closed by the time I get home. Looks like I'll be waiting till tomorrow morning.

No big deal I guess. Bruins are on.

GO WINGS!

Oh wait. On topic.

Im a bit hesitant to jump on one right now. I really want one and Mario Kart is going to be great. But Nintendo needs to make a move here soon. Their chances of being competitive with the big two this gen are pretty much gone already. But they can still be respectable.

Yeah it's fine, I mean that ps3 sale tho!

But there's nothing like killing some Helghans while taking a s***...

The option is cool. But the screen is too small for most games that have a lot of detail like next gen games. Something like Flower or Journey would be and probably is amazing.

I'm pretty tired of small text, was last gen as well. Is there realy a reason to make a menus so small and the text small? IT isn't like I'm trying to look at the s*** around what I'm trying to look at in these instances. I have a pretty hard time on my 32 inch tv trying to read the map on Infamous, Don't Starve is pretty hard as well. Do they even test this s***?

I actually have really good vision as well and can read it if it's possible. I have freinds who wear glasses, even with their glasses they have vision that is like 1/3 of what I have. I can't imagine people with vision problems trying to play these things.

If nothing else, give me an option to 3x all the text and menu's. Thank you

It comes to the point where I'm understanding and learning some games a lot less because of the size of text and I end up just ignoring it. Especially in games where reading is important for upgrading your items/weapons/character. I just end up trying to guess work it and say screw it.

I've been noticing this too. Glad it's not just me. I was worried that maybe I'm just getting old.
