Saw a bunch of people complaining about this announcement, and several others saying their not as hyped anymore after recent videos.
My question is what in the actual hell is going on lol?? Feel like I missed something because game looks amazing and I like knowing the DLC release schedule.
People want the DLC included with the games. They all say it is held back and should have been included day one. I never understood why that is a blanket statement. There are budgets for games, and they release those games at those budgets. There are budgets for DLC and they release the DLC as an option. Sure, there might be some that hold back content, but I don't think any of us can prove that. I tend to trust more than distrust.
I think Insomniac would've done better to hold off on talking about DLC until at least a couple weeks after the game comes out. You're going to get these sorts of reactions, if you talk about add-on content before the game is even out. People are wondering whether to spend $60, and you're already talking about what else they can buy. Slow down, pace it out.
As far as the hype falling off a bit, I think maybe the game has been somewhat overexposed. There's a hype curve, and you've got to time it right. Give people too many trailers, too much info, too much marketing, and you cause their hype levels to peak too early, and then they fall off. The game will sell well, though, because we're just talking about people on forums who've been immersed in the videos/previews/etc. more than most.

Agreed, especially when it comes to Insomniac. The DLC for Sunset Overdrive was pretty good.
Well, we know that the final games seem to never match up to the E3 demos. But I know what you mean about being skeptical. I remember that one Tomb Raider shot where on the X1X, Lara had all this mud on her face, and the Pro version was missing it. Some fans found out that Lara hadn't been in the mud prior to the screenshot taken with the Pro.
Yeah they said after that trailer that they were going to change the suit because it looked too shiny/rubbery. The other things are artistic changes not quality changes.
I also don't get this narrative that some xbox fans keep pushing that the game was downgraded at E3, everyone I know that saw it (and played it) thought it looked and played great.

We already knew there was more content coming, there has been a deluxe version on offer since pre-orders began that included additional missions and storylines so people complaining about it now are just being willfully ignorant to that fact.
That's part of why I don't trust it; I usually smell a console war agenda. Or maybe that's the old hot dog I dropped behind the couch a month ago. I should probably clean more often.
Honestly, I just don't care. Visuals get dialed back a little sometimes for a variety of different reasons, or artistic changes are made as JinCA said. I assume Insomniac will they'll give us the best-looking game they can. There's no reason they wouldn't. I'm concerned about combat, story, animation flow, characters, general gameplay, etc., not whether visuals match an E3 demo. That's a big 'meh' to me.

Ribeye and Top Sirloin for me, I know Sirloin isn't always the most tender but damn does it have good flavor lol. I grill steak almost every night so yeah I'm with you on this lol.

Some parts of the gaming community will never be happy. You could give them a perfect game with no flaws, and they'd ask why it wasn't out sooner. James is a champ to answer all of these questions. I could never work in PR. After I answer the question once sufficiently, I'm moving on or referring you to my answer.
September the 4th and 7th cannot come soon enough so people can stop droning on about this downgrade. I have no doubt this game will be great and it's salty xbox games pestering Insomniac. If I see any PS4 gamer do it on twitter I will be having words.Seriously people need to get a life.

Having read through alot of the thread on Resetera, I see both sides. The beginning of the thread starts off with everyone obviously defending the developers and basically calling everyone petty for calling out the differences or "downgrade." However, as the thread goes on and people start posting more comparison pics of the game from different areas it becomes more and more apparent its way more than just puddles. Even on Resetera, the mood is changing and less people are defending the developers.
I think alot of it is overreacting, but from what I saw there are effects and lighting changes that are for the worse, especially the suit doesn't have the polished look anymore. It still looks great of course.
I think there are two extremes going on. You have the overly dramatic crybabies but you also have the other group that acts like nothing has changed, like they can't see any changes other than puddles. lol, it's not a huge deal for me, but it's definitely noticeable.
Maybe it's just an artisic evolution as the game has progressed during development, not necessarily a "let's pull the wool over their eyes" performance cover up?

It's clear that the change from the shadows is because the light is coming from a different spot, as they said they changed the position of the sun, if you look at the buildings on the outside they are now lit up which they weren't before. That was purely an artistic change not a downgrade, they changed some of the objects around the walls too. The puddles likely aren't showing real time reflections anyway so I'm sure they weren't causing any problems. People just see something change and call it a downgrade, it's idiotic.
Lol at the downgrade. Anything to try and derail the hype i guess. At least there wasn't an entire feature removed from the game and it wasn't delayed 4 times like some games.

I wouldn't know if he's lying. I would hope not. Maybe the people under him and to cut a few things on OG ps4 to get a smooth framerate. But also, I can't imagine a developer coming out and saying they made a few cuts right before release lol.
Maybe this is just lighting and the game looks way better under certain conditions and maybe the effects screens I saw were just cherry picked. Idk.
I really like the way the suit looks in the old one though(bottom screen). Its not bad in new one.

Like I’ve said, GordoSan and I both watched the E3 demo being played live.
The graphics looked a bit meh compared to the trailer, which was a little surprising. However, during combat (which is very similar to Batman in how it moves), it seemed to look a lot better. It was a little like when you run in Gears; it suddenly looks like it’s from a movie. So I think only certain parts may appear ‘downgraded.’
Either way, the demo and the game looked like a lot of fun. I’ll pick it up during a Black Friday sale most likely.

I just hope it’s more action than cutscenes. I’m finally finishing UC4, and I love it with the exception that it’s like content-wise the cutscenes>>gameplay.
