Star Wars: Battlefront beta impressions

My biggest complaint is I keep running into games where nobody does the objectives in Walker assault. The rebels can win but when the entire team is camping and only I am going for objectives it can be trying.
I am definitely buying this but if come November folks are not playing the modes right I will probably play more offline. I get way more annoyed then I should, just a pet peeve. :)

That's my worry about the game. I am afraid the game is going to attract a lot of the COD type crowd who think that kill/death ratio is everything and ignore objectives.

I am hoping that they stay with COD. :) My wife says that this is a beta, hopefully none of them will buy the full game. I found a few good games this morning. Just by doing my objectives I was able to get top spot at the end for all three things. (kills, objectives, objectives defended). It really isn't rocket science.
I love when I am in a group of Rebels that "get it" and we have an at at walker down at the first marker. We have lost from there but at least the entire team is trying.

Something I love is Vaders voice. It's not the smooth baritone of every other portrayal today, it's wracked and labored sounding like it came right out of the dated tech of the 70's.

I've played a few rounds of it, graphics look great and I can see how some people will like it, but the gunplay and guns just aren't doing a whole lot for me. The verdict is out whether or not I will buy.

I know I will. I've been a star wars fan forever, I have a few points of contention but it's the first star wars game in years that isn't lego. Plus I can't necessarily find anything I hate. Just a "meh" concept or two.

I probably won't get it new, but I'll get it eventually.

After a few expansions...

Graphics are good and it feels like Star Wars. Trudging through the snow feels pretty realistic. The massive battles are massive. It has a lot going for it. As for me, I have not given it a lot of time but generally speaking I find it boring as well.

Every time I play I get even more blown away by the graphics. They are so good.

Drop Zone is more KOTH or Headquarters

The game needs a Conquest mode. There is going to be a point capture game mode but it sounds more like Chainlink from BF4 than Conquest
exactly

Oh and I played both PS4 and the XBO versions....not liking it so far.
EDIT: Oh and if my opinion changes or not on the game one thing I know for sure is this doesn't hold a candle to sw bf2 in gameplay/feeling like the movies.

Played this afternoon. Not bad. Honestly, it made me want to play Titanfall. Is that weird?
If you feel like giving Titanfall a try again feel free to add me. Haven't played in a while but feeling like it as well, especially co-op.

I went ahead and preordered it. I liked it but I can understand some of the negative feedback. Still though this is beta and we're seeing just a slice of the content. I'm really curious to try the other modes and to see some map rotations on walker assault and dropzone. Particularly interested to see what Endor is like and how the speederbikes are used. Overall it feels like a game I should have in my stable whether I play it 50 hours or 500.

with a death position like that youre just asking to be tea bagged by a gang of stormtroopers. just how it is

Kind of a bummer the troopers interfered with the fight, although I'm guessing the saber attacks in this game are just simple one button attacks.

Also lol $50 season pass

I preordered on XB1, but over the last day or so I've been playing on PC and now I'm conflicted. The PC version is far superior graphically - I'm running on Ultra with 1.5x supersampling, 2570xwhatever resolution, and it's smooth as butter. This is on an Aurora R4 with a gtx 970 installed. Not the highest end PC by any stretch. It's just sooo much smoother and prettier, plus with my hifi headset the sound is just ...

But I can't help but feel like the console communities will have longer legs ... what to do??

The pc community will have long legs. Look at BF4 on pc. On average, there are more pc players than all PS3, XB1 and Xbox 360 (only PS4 usually outmatches in terms of more players).

The bigger question should be, how do you feel playing against all the pc pros? I play console shooters more than pc shooters, because those pc gamers spank me left and right.

Good lord, I decided to try the pc version, and in just one match, I see the built in anti cheat program ban 3 people for cheating. Hacks out already on pc? No thanks, I'll stick to console for this one.

I would definitely get the PC version i'm not sold on the visuals on XB1. The game will have long legs on any platform no doubt, theres still a TON of games going on BF4 on XB1 and that games ancient now.

I keep reading about hackers even on consoles...not sure if they're real though.

I don't think you would find many, if any, hackers on games that use dedicated gameplay servers. They would have to hack the actual game server provided by the dev/publisher, as opposed to manipulating a game when they are the server on a P2P or listen server connection.

Yeah, if it's "legs" that anyone is concerned over, I wouldn't be, especially not on pc. Heck, I still play World at War on pc, there's quite a few people still playing.

That's just really sad.

Tried the beta last night. As expected I didn't care for it much, but then again I don't really like the feel of the newer Battlefield games. Wasn't going to buy it anyways but good to validate that issue so it wasn't always in the back of my head. Have fun.

If you want to play the game in HD, get it for the PC no question. Sub-HD on the Xbox One and PS4 will not satisfy your graphical desires. However, if you are looking at community, you can indeed pick up the Xbox One version. The Xbox Live community is indeed the way to go.
