Official Thread Street Fighter 5

No developers got death threats and video game journalists didn't have to predict the end of the gaming industry because of exclusives today. It is a cause for the celebration of sensibility.

Sure this kind of sucks SF V won't be on the Bone, but I'll probably stick to PC with this, since I have SF4 on there as well. Smart pick-up move by Sony though, if Ultra SF doesn't stick, I'm sure this will make PS4 the go to for esports probably.
For sure. No dev needs threats. Sure, 99.99% of them is just internet talk, but all it takes in one person to go haywire. Like how some guys somehow find out other people's address and attack them because they got angry during an online game.

Good to see this SFV deal not lead (knock on wood) to silly threats. Though not really surprised. If this was flip flopped and an Xbox/PC deal, the uproar would be 10 fold.

So mad. I'm out of Kleenex though sorry.
No Kleenex needed. I don't really care about games being exclusive. There are too many games any gamer can ever play anyway.

You should pass the tissues to gamers who make a big deal, denounce developers or make threats to employee Twitter accounts. Going by some of those old GAF threads about VF,. FF13, Tekken coming to Xbox, you could have passed out a truckload of Kleenex.

You could have made a killing selling tissues during the MS/TR deal.

Console exclusive forever they said and cross-platform with PC.

lol! what a coincidence.

your post simply confirmed EXACTLY what I was trying to explain to Flynn about Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) and Sony Computer Entertainment regarding the "PC" market and their primary goal pertaining to it.

Shocked it took this long for Xbox persecution complex to show up

you do know SOE is owned by Sony, right? who do you think they mainly make games for? Sony isn't trying to kill off the PC; they're simply trying to bridge the PC and console entertainment into the livingroom. hence the name Sony Computer Entertainment.

Of course.

...but what's your point? This is in no way related to, or antithetical to my statements.

I hold no ill-will towards Sony. The industry and gamers are better off with competition. This is a great move by Sony. I'm not worried about fighter content on X1, and as much as I love Street Fighter, I never bought SF4 because it didn't seem to offer something extraordinary. Hopefully Street Fighter 5 will, and yes - the PC is a Microsoft platform, just like Xbox, so the fact that it's also coming to PC is a great thing for Microsoft fans/supporters... and we all know that the PC versions of these games are always the best. But that's not to at all detract from the fact that it's a great thing for Sony PS4 gamers that they're getting SF5 console-exclusive, and it's also unfortunate for X1-only consoles owners who may have wanted it, but that's how the industry rolls. Exclusives are meaningful for these platforms. This is a meaningful win for Sony, just as the fact that X1 has more AAA exclusives is a meaningful win for Microsoft, and this holiday Microsoft had more AAA exclusives than Sony, which (in addition to aggressive pricing) led to a clear console victory for Black Friday and likely November in the US and UK, if not December as well.

These are good times for gamers. Heavy competition, and great games all around (with broad consensus that X1 has the leading suite of AAA games).

Well done, Sony. Microsoft fans with high performing PC's are the ultimate winners here, but Sony fans have something to be excited about too, and yeah - it's a bummer for some X1 fans... but X1 fans will have plenty of fighter content. KI continues to deliver great content, and there will be plenty more fighters on the horizon coming to both consoles. Fighting fans will have plenty of goodness on both consoles... but no doubt, this is great news for Sony and Sony fans.

On a side note - the arguments among fans is really something which needs to stop. No one in the industry likes it or condones it.

Xbox fans- Sony is not an enemy, nor are their fans. They're a friendly competitor offering a different twist on something you love and enjoy.
Sony fans - Microsoft/Xbox is not an enemy, nor are their fans. They're a friendly competitor offering a different twist on something you love and enjoy.

Nintendo fans - thanks for broadly staying out of the madness. I can't recall the last time I heard/read/saw an uproar from a Nintendo fan. For those of you who have gotten caught up in the madness, same applies. Neither Sony nor Microsoft are bad/evil/enemies. They're friendly competitors in a space you love and enjoy. Vote with your wallets on who's best.

There's just no excuse for the bickering among fans that continues to persist, and it's not something Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo (or anyone else in the industry for that matter) want or endorse.

From what's been shown so far nah.

Chain combos instead of links
OTG
Guard break
EX moves
Supers in place of ultra, I state this going by Chun's attack on Ryu and how she followed up. It's just like her super from SF3. (Also much shorter cinematic time too thank gawd).
Seems that focus is gone (pls add parries! DO ET ONO!)

Looks much closer to SF3 than SF4.

There have been 4 different versions of SFIV. I'm not gonna rush out and buy SFV this time. The PS4 can have its timed exclusivity. I'll wait for Ultra SFV when it lands on Xbox One.

I'm not sure this is good for gaming just like I don't think tomb raider being timed exclusive for Xbox One is good for gaming either. That being said I wonder if this game would even be coming out in 2015 if it weren't for Sony paying for it? didn't capcom say not all that long ago that they weren't sure they'd be able to do another street fighter due to cost? The series has always sold better on Playstation than Xbox so if it had to be exclusive to one console PS4 makes the most sense. I still don't really like 3rd party game that have been multiplats before going exclusive, then again if your competitor is making those kinds of moves you simply can't sit still either.

That's just blasphemy.

I get recruitment letters in the mail daily from all 3 companies begging me to pick a side.

We're all warriors in this fight!

Sucks for Xbox only fans. Third party studios should really stop going exclusive to one side and just stay multiplatform so that everyone is happy.

Looks like PS4's going to become the new console for fighters in tournaments this gen, not my kind of genre though.

It does suck for X1 only fans, but I'm not sure I'd agree that 3rd parties should just always make cross play. They should do what's right for their business, and that's not always going mtiplat. The better the business decisions, the better success they have. The better success they have, the more product they build. The more product they build, the more jobs they make. Etc.

Plus, PS4 getting SFV is hardly grounds to claim a fighting esport victor. There are plenty of other fighters.

What is funny is they also announced Ultra Street fighter 4 exclusively for PS4, which has a spring 2015 release date.
SF5 for 2016 ?

Capcom, master of milking.

Street Fighter 4 development house.

There are developers that milk a franchise, but Capcom do one better, they milk a single game with multiple iterations, & there are NOT substance upgrade also, I should know, I have Super street fighter 4 for 360 & Super street fighter 4 arcade edition for PC & they are 95% same!

The messaging that SF5 will ever come to PS4 is clear.

However, you know, being capcom, there will be more iteration of SF5, i.e Super SF5, S SF5 EX & these can come to X1.

& that is where sony probably wins the generation of fighting fans since SF is like the king of the fighters - so i guess the set tournament standard is going to be playstation 4 for MK/SF/Tekken/dead or alive on and on

Most major Tournament like EVO uses PS anyway, as they are the main sponsor.

"Rise of the Tomb Raider, coming Holiday 2015, is exclusively on Xbox" made it sound like a permanent Xbox exclusive with not even a PC port. Then Eurogamer had to prod Phil Spencer until he admitted Tomb Raider's exclusivity "had a duration", but we STILL don't know what other platforms it might come to, or how long it's exclusive for. The entire thing was deliberately deceptive and handled badly.

Much of the "uproar" died down after Spencer admitted it was timed.

Compare that to the straightforward "Console exclusivity on Playstation 4" and coming to PC. Not "Street Fighter V, coming Holiday 2015, is exclusively on PS4". They handled it much better, PC is already announced, Xbox has about half the consoles sold, thus A LESSER REACTION. Amazing.

Maybe someone at Xbox or Edios should tell us whether Tomb Raider is coming to PC, at least. We STILL don't know.

Of course, these important details are lost on the hypocritical, blind fanboy trolls of the internet.

Flynn, introllovision, etc. spread lies, ignorance, and trolling out of fear, jealousy, and blind hatred. Out comes the massively hypocritical "book of grudges" to bring up things Sony did 10-15 years ago to fuel that plastic hate.

PS4 still outselling 2:1 in global sales over the holidays, a constant stream of PS4 announcements, Xbox exclusives (except Halo) falling flat in sales, Halo Collection's weeks long online issues, Xbox Live being DDOSed repeatedly, and another ~10-11 months of waiting until Fall 2015 for the big AAA Xbox games. You can start to see why they're acting so nasty these past few days.

They hate the fact that people are enjoying themselves at PS Experience and want to do anything possible to make everyone as miserable as they are. Sad.

Can you go a week without name dropping people and inciting flame wars?
I'm being serious.
:meh:

Just try it. You might find your experience in these forums more joyful.

what's my point? my point is Sony is not trying to eliminate the PC market from the PlayStation console market; they are and have been, since they first entered the console war, trying to merge the two but in a way where the user isn't off to the side in a room with a PC. in other words, they are trying to put computer entertainment in the livingroom and beyond. this is why they formed Sony Online Entertainment; they deal with the PC side while Sony Computer Entertainment deals with the console side. once both grounds are established, a bridge is constructed to form one big ecosystem. this SFV deal is no different from their Planet Side 2.

having said that, it was no mistake that SFV showed up on the PC. it was planned as it was always apart of their insidious plot to get the PC in the livingroom and beyond.

That is true to a certain extent. Business is business, just sucks for single platform gamers.

Btw, why did you get banned? lol.

I feel bad for anyone who loved playing this game on 360 because it seem to be the ideal place to play it online - I wonder if this means MS is going to go berserk with their wallet now. It seems strange that the backlash isn't as huge as it was for TR but i guess that is different? not sure.

I know I mentioned this earlier, but the TR announcement was s***. When the next TR was originally announced, there was no mention of it being exclusive, be it true or timed, so if you had interest, you could (rightfully) assume it was coming to PS4, so if that was your console of choice, you weren't getting screwed.

But then, you did get screwed, because between its announcement and e3, it became a timed exclusive. We still don't even know how long.

It's different than TitanFall, because if you bought a PS4 to play Titanfall, you knew you had to wait a long time (which ended up being "forever," since it went from timed to a true consule exclusive--and even that was more speculation than anything else.) There was also the fact TF more than likely would not have happened without MS's involvement.

Same goes for Bayonetta 2. People were bitching about that as well, but it was clear from the beginning: Wii U exclusive; it wouldn't be happening without Nintendo.

SFV was just announced for the first time--PC and PS4 only, wouldn't be happening without Sony's involvement.

Now, you can be cynical, and think that when a company says "this game wouldn't have happened without their involvement" is some disingenuous bulls***, but it is what it is.

The good news for X1 fans is this is f***ing Street Fighter. You damn well know there is going to be another version of SFV arriving a year or so after the vanilla version.

When it comes down to it, and this is with most things in life, transparency goes a long way. Just be up front about your s***. People will be angry, accept, and move on.

So basically there can be a Street Fighter 5 "turbo" edition on XB1 later, just not Street Fighter 5.

I believe Sony is also working on the game along with capcom so I'm not sure that any version of SF5 will appear on another console if that's the case. We'll see though, stranger things have happened.

Why are people trying to guess what's been written in the contracts between Sony and Capcom?

I just watched that Angry Joe rant about how Street Fighter V going exclusive was dumb for Capcom.

It's like none of you realize that Capcom has their own best interest in mind. Whatever Sony is offering sounded good and preferable to releasing SFV on the Bone as well.

Super Street Fighter V may come out on the Bone, no one knows. It seems strange to me to speculate on what happened during meetings between two large and successful companies. There are just so many unknown variables for us fans.

TLDR: I'm smarter than all of you.

PS: Why did Flynn get banned? I quite liked Flynn.
