Do we know this is a console exclusive for sure or just next gen only? Either way sign me up.

This looked great, the true game probably won't look quite as good but it looked very nice. Still not a fan of their animation though.

Katsuhiro Harada confirmed that the footage shown was not pre-rendered specifically for the trailer, but was instead real-time rendered footage from the game's story mode running on PlayStation 5. That means on a visual level, this is what the team is striving for with the final product. Of course, the game is still in development and we don't even have a release date, so things can change and it was probably enhanced to be more cinematic than it would be if you were actually playing. Harada also noted that there's a lot of dynamic weather effects and a ship breaking apart in the background which is something fans can expect with the game's various stages when it releases. Harada also stated that the game "will focus on the father and son showdown between Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama."

Graphics look great. Never liked Tekken though. Bland characters, bad animations, and poor sound. Never could get into this or Bloody Roar.

More from the PlayStation blog. I had read something earlier that said it was basically a target render but this debunks that.

https://blog.playstation.com/2022/09/13/tekken-8-breaks-into-a-new-generation/

This trailer was actually taken directly from a certain part in the current work-in-progress Tekken 8’s story mode, played on PlayStation 5. In other words, all the character models, backgrounds, and effects are the same ones that are used in-game. Although this was captured from the story mode, it is not a pre-rendered movie made for the trailer but rather real-time rendered footage, running at 60 frames per second, similar to how you would experience the game in versus battle modes. (Of course, some of the effects, dialogue as well as the camera angle is currently being updated and may change when the game launches)

In the trailer, you can see this level of quality in the newly created playable character models that completely sets itself apart from the current Tekken 7, and in little details like how water droplets run down the character’s skin. This is not footage created solely for trailer purposes, but an actual real-time rendering of what is happening on the game screen.

Also, if you pay attention to the background during the battle, you can see dynamic waves and tornadoes, a huge tanker gradually breaking apart, storm rendering so realistic that you can feel the wind pressure, the density of the rain.

These are all battle stage effects to be used in this title. We are of course working hard to enhance the quality even further. In the latest version of the work-in-progress build, the quality is dynamically improving each day, with the giant tanker moving closer to the shore in the background and large flames flare up near where the character is standing. We hope you look forward to seeing them in-game!

It looks much better than T7 for sure.
Looks like a slightly higher resolution version of T7 imo, still looks fine imo.
I'm still a bit saddened that Namco never updated T7 for Xbox, it's still a 720p game which looks horrendous at this point.... but T7 is the best tekken to date, it's awesomely packed with content and characters, pretty much a Tag Tournament 3 in that regard.

I bought the Ultimate Edition on sale last month for $18 and knew it was 720p before buying it. It doesn't look as bad as I thought it would, but it's definitely noticeable compared to playing on the Pro.
