House majority leader to colleagues in 2016: ‘I think Putin pays’ Trump
KIEV, Ukraine — A month before Donald Trump clinched the Republican nomination, one of his closest allies in Congress — House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy — made a politically explosive assertion in a private conversation on Capitol Hill with his fellow GOP leaders: that Trump could be the beneficiary of payments from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“There’s two people I think Putin pays: Rohrabacher and Trump,” McCarthy (R-Calif.) said, according to a recording of the June 15, 2016, exchange, which was listened to and verified by The Washington Post. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher is a Californian Republican known in Congress as a fervent defender of Putin and Russia.
House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) immediately interjected, stopping the conversation from further exploring McCarthy’s assertion, and swore the Republicans present to secrecy.
Before the conversation, McCarthy and Ryan had emerged from separate talks at the Capitol with Ukrainian Prime Minister Vladimir Groysman, who had described a Kremlin tactic of financing populist politicians to undercut Eastern European democratic institutions.

Well, I have to admit I was wrong. I kept thinking Trump was incapable of actually making any deals, just blustering about how good he was at it while he destroyed deals Obama made and failed miserably trying to make new deals of his own. And I thought the North Korea debacle confirmed that. But, apparently, he can make deals.

Although, in this case, given how much Trump's business "empire" almost surely relied upon Russian money to escape from financial ruin, I imagine it wasn't so much making a deal and simply being given a offer he couldn't refuse (literally, could not).

He reached an agreement with the soviets to hand over our military to putin.

Washington (CNN) President Donald Trump said Wednesday that Russia is no longer targeting the United States and that no other president has ever been tougher on the country.

After a Cabinet meeting in the White House, Trump was asked by a reporter if Russia was still targeting the US, and he responded, "No," directly contradicting what his director of national intelligence, Dan Coats, said Monday.

"We have been clear in our assessments of Russian meddling in the 2016 election and their ongoing, pervasive efforts to undermine our democracy," Coats said.
Trump went on to say he has been tougher on Russia than any other US president.

"We're doing very well, probably as well as anybody has ever done with Russia. There's been no president ever as tough as I have been on Russia," he said.
"I think President (Vladimir) Putin knows that better than anybody, certainly a lot better than the media," the President added. "He understands it and he's not happy about it and he shouldn't be happy about it because there's never been a President as tough on Russia as I have been."

Good reddit post.....

Before anyone else knew, the Trump campaign was aware that Russia was in possession of hacked and stolen information that belonged to US citizens.
Last Thursday, House Republicans spent hours incoherently screaming about text messages and hypocritically dragging Strzok for having an affair. They totally abused their authority by making up rules and breaking down any rule of law meant to protect citizens by threatening Strzok with contempt for abiding by his legal counsel. They tried to force him to break DoJ protocol weeks after celebrating a report that criticized people for breaking DoJ protocol (and it's worth mentioning that the IG report did not at all say what they wanted so they blatantly lie about what's in it).
On Friday, the longtime talking point of Republicans and Trump was killed when the DoJ indicted, in a very detailed complaint, 12 Russian government agents for launching cyber attacks on US citizens to sway an election in Trump's favor. This indictment highlights a particular attack on July 27th 2016 where for "the first time" the Kremlin attacked Clinton's personal systems "after hours." Nothing in this indictment is a coincidence and everything in it is provable, meaningful, and relevant to the charges. The only reason the facts that the attack was "for the first time" and "after hours" are relevant and meaningful was because it happened after Trump invoked it.
This drags Trump directly into the conspiracy.
On this same day when foreign agitators were indicted for attacking our country, Republicans began moving to impeach Rod Rosenstein.
Trump spent the entire weekend launching an assault on our closest allies and NATO.
On Monday, Trump had a totally private meeting with the man who orchestrated this attack on the United States. There will be no transcript for what was said. After this, Vladmir Putin and Donald Trump got up on stage together. During this joint presser, Trump and Putin put forth mirroring Kremlin talking points and alleged the same disproved conspiracies. During this joint presser, Trump attacked our own DoJ and intel communities, expressed his trust in Putin, and endorsed allowing the Kremlin to have access to information in the special counsel probe.
Hours later, it was announced that an agent of Russia, Maria Butina, had been arrested and charged. The affidavit reveals that she was involved in a conspiracy among several people and organizations including Alexander Torshin, a Russian oligarch and politician wanted by Spain for money laundering, the NRA, the Republican Party, and two unnamed people. Person 1 in the indictment told Butina that he had very private lines of communication with top leaders of the Republican party that the Kremlin could utilize. Butina promised that the Republican Party would have control of the government after 2016. Butina and Torshin discussed the top choice Trump was considering for SoS and whether he would be okay for "their people." The Steele Dossier notes that weeks after that discussion happened, the Kremlin intervened on that choice, and Rex Tillerson was nominated - a man who won Russia's medal of friendship and has extensive business interests there.
We now know that Butina has direct connections to Kremlin intelligence.
Later in the week we got to see an interview Trump did with Tucker Carlson after the summit. In this interview, Tucker Carlson asked Trump a curious question - he wanted to know if Trump thought we should defend Montenegro as part of NATO's Article 5. Trump said no.
This issue is one of deep concern to Russia, and it is also a recent concern to Russia. The Kremlin attempted a vast assassination in Montenegro of politicians. The fact that Trump and Carlson were propagating Kremlin talking points on regards to this nation is frightening and illuminating.
In addition to this capitulation to the Kremlin agenda, the Russian military also announced that they were going to begin actions in Syria agreed to with Trump in the private meeting. Trump announced that Putin would be aiding him in North Korea.
We have never seen such a subversion of US interests to a foreign adversary.
And now today Trump is denying that Russia is still attacking the US despite everyone other than Russia coming to the conclusion that Russia is still attacking the US.
The Republican Party, Donald Trump, the NRA, and Russia committed, and are continuing to commit, a criminal conspiracy to undermine the democracy of the United States.

Reactions: Viktor
This sums up the cult of Trump so well.

3 Trumpers were asked if they believed Russia meddled in the election.

The answers were:
-No
-We do it all the time
-Obama should have done something about it

Watching Cuomo Prime Time right now. Steve Cortes, a member of Trump's campaign, tried to equate everyone's negative reaction over Trump's Helsinki performance to brithirism. Ana Navarro was also on and he tried claiming she was a leftist. She pretty much took a dump right on him.

I’ll have to watch the YouTube clip of it tomorrow. I missed it.
