He also claimed to personally know hundreds of people that died. That means he knew 1 in 10 people that died. He also touted how "his" building was now the tallest in lower Manhattan.

He is infuriating.

The op ed author is a coward who's posing as a savior, but in reality, they're just trying to save their party and their agenda. It's crazy to see what this person is doing, but the person is doing it so they can make abortions illegal, give more tax breaks to the rich, and destroy the environment completely.
His/her actions may be done cowardly, but if they are actually massively brave/illegal, and shaping a nation... Gah, I don't even know how to voice this at the moment. Yes I'm drunk.

People are sooooo gung ho about being upfront about stuff... Lol. American interference in an election?

...anyway, someone is preventing Trump from doing stupid s***, from a stance that both parties would not support... And all you see is Republicans covering their arse?

You should be celebrating the fact that someone is preventing that from happening! You elected him! It is no longer a party debate. It's a fight between the people, and idiots. (I think it always was that, but then they elected Trump.)

The anon may have prevented a bunch of s*** that you would hate, but because they didn't sacrifice their career in doing so, makes them lesser, is ridonk. You should be supporting someone fighting for your values.

Being right is less important than having a cause.

Your logic is flawed.

This person is like PETA. PETA is against killing animals, but they kill 75% of the animals they "rescued." This person is saying they're saving United States while trying to kill what the United States stands for.

In the post I mentioned it's crazy what this person has done. That doesn't go unnoticed, but the intentions aren't just.

The problem is this person is still putting party loyalty over the good of the country. If even a fraction of what we read is true (and I have no doubt it is), Trump needs to be removed from office.

Unfortunately a lot of Republicans just want to pretend "everything is fine" and get someone else in there by 2020.

On one hand I can appreciate that someone is there trying to hold this ship together, there needs to be consequences for this. This can't happen again.

There was just a reputable poll about the President and 60% of the people believe he's a liar. I mean, only 60? He's been caught in flat out, blatant, bold faced lies countless times. There's simply no way to argue that Trump isn't a liar.

This is a case of the emperor has no clothes. People are accepting lies as fact in the name of party loyalty. That can't happen in America.

The problem with that anonymous op-ed author is they're using that piece to absolve the Republican party of Trump and will likely use it to further their career. Odds are that person will step forward in the future. I am assuming if it happens it will be a time when Trump officials are shunned and some may be facing repercussions. They'll try to say 'I was against this'. I don't want to confuse their selfishness with someone fighting for 'my' values.

If a Democrat had done the exact same thing, would you call them clever, or a coward?

Being a member of a party has a lot shades of what they stand for.

Edit: people keep treating it like a party issue. By this point, if you can't recognise people are trying to salvage stuff...

The Atlantic, and I'm sure other publications, had a good article on why the anonymous article was bad and the author and everyone else is wrong. I agree with that stance. As much as I hate Trump, he is still the president and shouldn't be undermined by some shadow government. Even if they are "saving" us from him doing much more terrible things that he already has, there are constitutional processes of getting rid of the president if he is unfit. Telling everyone not to worry, that they have everything in control, is not the way to run government. These are not democratically elected officials and thus should not be ruling in any form.

They are cowards to hide in this way. If you truly believe he is unfit, 25th Amendment or try to get Republicans in Congress on your side to impeach. But like others have said in here, hey as long as they get their tax cuts or deregulation, it's all fine and dandy to look the other way on human rights abuses or corruption.

The person flat out said they're doing it because they want to keep republicans in power and want to continue to push republican policies. That's making abortion illegal, destroying the environment, destroying the internet, giving corporations more money, making healthcare too expensive for people to afford, etc.

If the person said they're doing it for the good of the country, there wouldn't be an issue. They didn't say that.

They know he's unfit, but since they are getting the policies they want, they won't do anything to remove him.

If a Democrat did a tiny fraction of what Trump has, there would be an angry mob outside the White House and impeachment would already be underway.

Seriously.

Woodward: Lawyer told Trump he’s ‘disabled’ and ‘can’t tell the truth’
Veteran journalist Bob Woodward said that President Trump’s former attorney, John Dowd, concluded that the president is “disabled” and unable to “tell the truth” following a practice interview earlier this year meant to prepare Trump for a sit-down interview with the special counsel.
During an appearance on “The Late Show” on Monday night to promote his new book, “Fear: Trump in the White House,” Woodward was pressed by host Stephen Colbert about what fills him with fear.
“Not knowing,” Woodward responded, before adding that “we need to know what’s going on” in the White House.
Colbert then pointed to the final pages of Woodward’s new book, which he and the veteran journalist noted contained the “f-word.”
The late-night host also noted how Woodward had described Dowd after he finished his practice interview with the president in January, who the journalist noted had warned Trump he would be “fitted for an orange jumpsuit” if he were ever to actually sit down with Mueller’s team for a real interview.
“Trump goes ballistic, makes things up, starts screaming. Dowd thought had he been Mueller, he would have been fired right on the spot,” Woodward told Colbert.
“‘You can’t testify. You, you are disabled,’” Woodward said, repeating remarks Dowd reportedly made toward Trump after the mock interview. “I mean, imagine the lawyer, your lawyer, telling you you’re disabled. ‘And you can’t testify because you can’t tell the truth. You just make things up!’”

I think if you read the article, it's more about tricking the people into believing that their goals are being achieved.

I honestly don't get what you're against?

You don't want trumps goals thwarted?

The abortion, environment laws, internet etc... Those are party policies, and how many are mentioned?

It's like the blanket hatred that Americans have for Wikileaks. You're told to hate it, but you're totally 'freedom of information!!!' but not that...

My replies are in bold except for the bolded italic one that's a direct quote from the op ed.

I honestly don't get what you're against? If trump is as bad as this person suggests, we know he is, they should have made moves to remove him. Instead they chose not to because it's "complex." Coward.

You don't want trumps goals thwarted? Of course I do, and I mentioned it in the original post you quoted.

The abortion, environment laws, internet etc... Those are party policies, and how many are mentioned? "Don’t get me wrong. There are bright spots that the near-ceaseless negative coverage of the administration fails to capture: effective deregulation, historic tax reform, a more robust military and more."

It's like the blanket hatred that Americans have for Wikileaks. You're told to hate it, but you're totally 'freedom of information!!!' but not that... Wikileaks and julian assange is a piece of s***. Originally I was supportive of wikileaks. I liked the transparency. Now, they're a partisan piece of s*** and so is assange. They had/have republican emails, information, etc., but they refuse to release them. They had them during the election, but due to assange's hatred for Hillary, Obama, Democrats in general, they never released a damn thing. They also worked directly with the soviet union in these events.

Seriously.

Could you imagine the outrage if the black president acted like that even in the slightest? Imagine if the woman constantly lied about everything and said Benghazi/email investigation was a witch hunt? Or she would not cooperate with the Congressional investigations?

I have no doubts what you're saying would happen. I've interacted with people who acted like Obama and Clinton have already done such things. Where are they now? Silent.

Lucky for North Carolina there are a lot of white people there so they will get appropriate help from the government

Investigators looking at suspicious money transfers after Trump Tower meeting, election: report
Federal investigators are reportedly looking into a pair of suspicious money transfers from some of the planners and participants in a 2016 Trump Tower meeting between Trump campaign officials and a Kremlin-connected lawyer who promised "dirt" on Hillary Clinton.
BuzzFeed News reported on Wednesday that secret documents it evaluated show that a complex web of financial transactions may play a role in special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russia's election interference.
They involve money from Russia and Switzerland being moved to places such as the British Virgin Islands, Bangkok and New Jersey, according to BuzzFeed.
Four federal law enforcement officers told the news outlet that investigators are specifically looking into two bursts of transactions that bank examiners found suspicious.
One of the bursts occurred 11 days after the Trump Tower meeting in June 2016, while the other happened right after President Trump’s election.
In the first, an offshore company controlled by Aras Agalarov, a billionaire real estate developer with close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin and Trump, wired almost $20 million to his own account at a New York bank, according to BuzzFeed.
The second burst happened when Agalarov transferred $1.2 million from the Agalarov family bank in Russia to an account in New Jersey controlled by his son, Emin Agalarov.
BuzzFeed noted that the account had been dormant since 2015 and that bankers found it unusual that Emin Agalarov’s checking account grew after Trump’s election.
The New Jersey account reportedly also sent money to a company controlled by Irakly Kaveladze. Kaveladze is a longtime associate of theirs and represented the family at the Trump Tower meeting, BuzzFeed reported.
It additionally noted that Kaveladze’s company funded a music business launched by Rob Goldstone, Emin Agalarov’s British publicist, who first pitched the Trump Tower meeting.
“I’m actually perplexed why anybody is interested in this or why anybody in their right mind would treat this as suspicious,” Scott Balber, an attorney representing the Agalarovs and Kaveladze, told BuzzFeed. “These are all transactions either between one of Mr. Agalarov’s accounts and another of Mr. Agalarov’s accounts or one of Mr. Agalarov’s accounts and an account in the name of one of his employees.”
The news outlet noted that the transactions were discovered after law enforcement officials told financial institutions to sift through records of people connected to the Russia probe. Bankers then reported the “suspicious activity reports” to the Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network.
A suspicious activity report does not mean there is any evidence of criminal activity. But BuzzFeed notes that federal prosecutors have used those reports to charge people such as Trump’s former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort.
Manafort was convicted in August for several charges related to bank and tax fraud. Prosecutors have not charged the Agalarovs, Goldstone and Kaveladze.

Republican Congressman and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes has been covering up the Russia/Trump scandal, he preemptively shut down the House Intelligence Investigation. Representative Nunes and other leaders of the Republican party have been complicit in allowing a foreign adversary attack the United States of America. In fact they are openly inviting further interference.

President Trump and the Republican party leadership have been complicit in refusing to address Russian aggression, in fact they are inviting more interference. Russia is taking full advantage of America's biggest weakness - their division on what to do about Russia as many GOP lawmakers refuse to admit that Russia is actively attacking American institutions and infrastructure. For example a recording of Republican Congressman Devin Nunes talking at a GOP fundraiser was leaked recently, he implored the guests to support him and the Republican party so that they could protect President Trump from the Russia probe.[1]

Representative Nunes is the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, he led a vote in the committee to shut down their Russia probe investigation several months ago.[2]

Devin Nunes put an end to the investigation when we know of at least 70 contacts between the Trump team and Russia-linked operatives, the committee obtained either no or incomplete information about 81% of known contacts between Trump officials and Russians.[3]

4th of July, 2018 A group of Republican Senators travel to Moscow and meet Foreign Minister Lavrov.[4]

Russian state propaganda brazenly asserted that “Trump is ours,” and joke that the U.S. lawmakers traveled to Russia *“to make deals with our hackers, so they can rig the midterms in favor of Trump’s team."*[5]

18th of July, 2018 House Republicans refuse to renew election security funding.[6]

1st of August, 2018 Republican Senators block $250 million amendment for election security.[7]

1st of August, 2018 In a joint press conference top Trump administration officials Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen, Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats, FBI Director Chris Wray, National Security Advisor John Bolton, and NSA Director General Paul Nakasone accuse Russia of continuing their information warfare and election meddling against the United States of America.[8]

6th of August, 2018 Republican Senator Rand Paul invites Russian politicians to Washington.[9]

8th of August, 2018 Republican Senator Rand Paul visits Moscow and delivers a letter from President Trump to President Vladimir Putin.[10]

  1. PBS - Secret recording highlights Nunes’ concern with protecting Trump in Russia probe
  2. Reuters - Republicans shut down House Russia probe over Democratic objections
  3. NBC - House probe overlooked most Trump-Russia contacts, report claims
  4. Roll Call - Senate Republicans Meet Lavrov in Moscow Ahead of Trump-Putin Summit
  5. Washington Post - On Russian state TV, Putin has already won the summit with Trump
