A couple indie devs and a communications manager from remedy.
BG3 is the only big title and its simply caused a delay cause MS want the feature on both.

Plenty of bigger games running on the console just fine. Maybe MS should send some of it's devs to show them how to work it.

I believe MS did have to send some of their own devs to help Larian optimize better and quicker. And no not just indie devs , there were 4A, Id4 , Infinity Ward, Remedy to name a couple big AAA ones. Though MS themselves are also delaying some of their own legacy features because they could not implement in time for launch.

Now that we are heading into just next gen only for games, will be interesting to see where things go.

Any thoughts on the actual game?

Think this looks good and the recent preview round was very positive. Sounds like the combat is only a small step below From Soft titles, at least in terms of how it feels.
I think it is going to be another GOTY contender.

Everything I have seen and heard looks and sounds great. Yes, it is a souls like game, but it is doing plenty of its own things too. The atmosphere sounds great. The bosses look cool. I can't wait.

Just spouting names of the top your head does you no good.

4A for example, their problem was their own engine. Only they can fix that. lol.

“The RAM is not an issue for us (currently), but GPU performance presents challenges for future titles,” he said. “Our current renderer is designed for high spatial and temporal resolution (read: 4K @ 60 fps). It is stochastic by nature.

“Dropping any of those would require us to do more expensive calculations dropping performance even further. We have a compromise solution right now, but I am not satisfied with it yet.”

So you're saying they should change their whole engine just because of the XSS 😆

Unreal 5 seems like a graphically intensive engine. Matrix demo ran at 1080p-1440p / 30 fps too.

Actually it's the devs that are saying all the XSS holding them back. It's been on record dating all the way back to the launch announcement as shown multiple times. Recently now it's BG3 devs, Remedy devs that's spoken get again about how it's taking more time to get things running at where they want to for the little bro.
And devs have been saying the XSS isn’t holding them back.

Thanks for proving you were just talking out your @ss.

They cut resolution.. lol

Maybe it's not the tech. Maybe it's the devs. These devs have said moving to unreal 5 has caused issues.

The point is., a couple users on here love to put all the blame on the Series S and say its holding devs back when the supposedly much more powerful consoles also struggle.
Most games can't even keep a locked 30fps. Mid gen refresh isn't going to solve that so no, no point doing it. Focus on making sure the next consoles are better day 1.

You know what they could all choose to ignore? Ray tracing which most gamers don't notice or care about. Get rid of that and focus on the other stuff.
Resolution isn't a gameplay feature lol, again with the false equivalence. The reason BG3 isn't launching on xbox now is because they can't cut features from Series S if they aren't able to get it to run, it would be launching day and date with the PS5 version if they were allowed to cut that.

Those of you who keep wanting to believe that the S can do everything the series X can do at a lower resolution don't know more than game developers, you just want to believe the MS PR spin. That console was said to be able to run Series X games at 1440p, most games on the S are 1080p and a lot of other graphical features are reduced too.

As far as framerate, most games do keep a locked 30fps on PS5 and Series X, just about every PS5 first party game also offers a 60fps performance mode, yes those at times aren't locked and a pro console would solve that.

Making a mid gen refresh now wouldn't impact how good the next gen machines would be at all, those aren't going to be coming out for 5 more years, the consoles we have now are going to struggle with UE5 as it becomes more common. They are also going to run at reduced internal resolutions so 1080p/1440p upscaled will probably be something that happens more often, wouldn't be surprised to see some even lower.

The PS5 pro started development at the beginning of last year and will launch next year, 4 years before a new gen machine is expected, it will have ZERO negative impact on the development of those consoles, the tech that will be featured in those machines isn't even available yet.

Game looks so good.

SkillUp was a fan but did mention several times the combat does not feel great. Has me a little worried I’ll bounce off.

Brehs, this looks so good. Probably setting up for disappointment. I know the previews were positive but I noticed a few of them stated the combat is good but feels a step behind From games. Has me wary.

But everything else looks amazing.

From games should better. They have been tweaking and polishing it for 14 years.

Publisher CI Games recently revealed some interesting information about Lords of the Fallen, which will be officially released in two days.. Among the details we even have the development time and how many people worked on it.

According to a post made on social media, (which was removed), Lords of the Fallen was developed over 4 years with around 400 employees in total.

Additionally, the game will introduce players to 13 different classes, four of which are mentioned as "secret", as well as 192 weapons and shields, 76 types of spells and 339 pieces of armor.

It is believed that the original publication was removed because this image reveals the exact number of bosses you will face during your game, and this small detail could be considered a spoiler, which are 30, as well as three unique endings.

In typical 2023 fashion looks like reviews are all over the place for this, which makes it very difficult to decide whether or not to drop $70.

Both metacritic and opencritic has this around 71

might wait for sale/patches. Seems like lots of small annoyances that add up.
