What the deuce is this dude smoking?

I respect Forbes for what it is... But calling the console sexy? Saying that the controls look sexy?

And then you see the hand that is calling these controllers sexy, and it makes me want to get sick all over his tea stained mahogany desk (Of which he has piles of s*** stacked up in a corner, next to his dirty coffee mug, and a laptop that still has the stickers on it. More importantly, why does a tech reviewer have a $10 mouse?! That's just silly.)

And then, he insists on taking photos of the joycons in his hands, I can only assume to compare the size after boasting about his "Large hands" while keeping a fish-eye filter on the camera!

No sir, you have fat hands, with a manicure sponsored by diabetes and blind orphans that don't understand where your nail beds should finish.

And to top it all off, THE MAN LEAVES HIS VACUUM IN THE LOUNGE?!

What kind of animal does that?!

It's amazing how much more detail you get out of reviews than I do.

Who wants to bet the system will still flop?

Even if it did, Nintendo would still use the general design and library for their base handheld once they can double the battery life. It should do better than Wii U easily, but probably more as a handheld than a console and probaby not better than the 3DS

I wholeheartedly think it'll do a lot better than the Wii U, 3DS numbers, no way.

It looks like a cool system, though I'm disheartened by the fact that this close to launch and early reviewers still don't have access to many system features. It's all well and good that it has "Apple" build quality an' all, but, it should it least have functionality.

I don't I only want the online part to Flop so that it'll stay free. Other than that I want it to be a success. I mean where else can you find couch multiplayer gaming but on Nintendo these days?

Most of the other companies have shunned it.

I'm also a bit worried about the news that the Joycons seem to loose connection.

This time next week we'll all be posting about how great Zelda is.

Actually, no, we'll all just be too busy playing Zelda to post about how great Zelda is.

Opinion piece, but seems a lot of people are excited for it.

I can't wait for Zelda, but I still can't justify the purchase of a system for one game. Arggghh.

There is nothing about the switch that even indicates it will be a runaway success. They are going nowhere till they substantial third party support.

this isn't true..
Nintendo won last gen with its exclusives and its gimmick being its main attraction.

If anything kills switch...it would likely be its specs vs the ps4/pro.

I don't know if I should run from you or 2 you

And yet it could not muster more than 15 million sold? If anything will kill switch is by the time this thing gets momentum in the fall you will be able to buy a PS4 with RDR2, Destiny 2, Battlefront 2, a new AC game etc for around $200. It's portability is its unique function and even that is not great when you can only get 2 hours 30 minutes out of Zelda. Nintendo have learnt nothing.

Nintendo have learnt nothing.
I don't think it's about learning nothing. I'm sure Ninty knows exactly what they are doing.

Their focus for the past 3 gens is low cost shovelware systems, whose catch are Mario, Zelda and some kind of gameplay gimmick. As low a price as possible. And whatever sales and profit it reaps is good enough for them. Little focus on specs, third party, online, DLC etc...

It doesn't even make sense. Switch is supposed to be some kind of grab and go portable system that promotes party play, taking it on buses and airplanes, yet the battery lasts only about three hours, and can't even do any basic apps like watching Netflix or surfing the net when someone wants to do something else. Without even checking, I'm positive the iPad 2 my sister in law has better mobility and battery.

The last time they went toe to toe with a nicely powered system was N64 and GC and they failed miserably against the opposition, so they don't want to do that again.

However, if they really want to strive for top dog like the old NES and SNES days, it's actually easy. Gamers are fickle. All they have to do is make a top system that competes with the MS and Sony systems.

Just to show how fickle gamers are, NES/SNES ruled. Then PS1/PS2 rules. Wii came back, but suddenly 360 did great after a meh Xbox OG. Now PS4 is back on top and Wii U had terrible sales. So it shows any gen can shift user base.

They have the right family oriented franchises as a lock. Nice powered systems will lead to more third party games, will lead to better online, and gives Ninty the opportunity to make some new IPs that caters to an older core crowd. But Ninty doesn't want that.

Ninty prefers a bronze medal and that's fine I guess. Some people put in the time and effort and gun for gold. Ninty prefers to take a less strenuous approach and is happy being third.

It will be interesting to see what they do in the next 10 years. 3DS sales are falling, and it seems there is no other dedicated handheld that was the equivalent of gold coffers. The reason why Ninty has done so well the past 30 years is heavily skewed to handheld devices. If Switch fails and 3DS sales continue to fall, there is no safety net..... unless they have some back up plans:

- A successor to 3DS.... like a 4DS sells 50-100+ million units like all their handhelds seem to
- A big shift to PC/mobile games (which they already stated will be 2-3 a year, and it takes off)
- Ninty goes third party
