The Order: 1886 (Official Thread)

A movie here is 13 mother flipping bucks here 16 for 3-D so once I can get this game for $20 it's a good deal. Should hit that price point soon.

Yeah, I'll agree with that for the most part. It's certainly not a game to pay the full $59.99 for. But it wouldn't be a bad purchase at $30. If the game gets a sequel, I have high hopes. There's a lot of potential for this franchise.

Will there be a sequel, even if the sales are poor? Might they not move on to a different franchise?

I bought a copy for $25. I look forward to giving it a spin. I'm a story whore and am gravely tired of shooter mechanics, so I think I'll enjoy it okay.

Shouldn't have picked this game. Unless highfalutin nonsense written by illiterate blind men who wrote down the synopsis of a werewolf story they saw on TV is good enough for you.

The shooting mechanics are actually really solid in this one. One of the highlights along with visuals and presentation.
Shooting mechanics are awesome in this game. One of the better shooter mechanics I have played. But the AI is just downright horrible. Maybe Order 1887 will revamp the AI.

Well, my standards for videogame storytelling are pretty low, so we'll see...

The game was a good 6-8 hours of fun. If you didn't like it you got some pointless standards. Just enjoy a good game for what it's worth and stop comparing it to everything else.

It was a fairly standard third-person shooter in regards to gameplay, but what it did do, it did well. And it's a great starting point for a franchise. I imagine a lot of the work went into building the technology. If they get a chance to make another game, they can just work on refining it and make the game itself their focus.

Storywise, not a whole lot. But man, those graphics are bananas.

Graphics are nice, which is why i'd buy it when it reaches $5 if I owned a PS4.

And of those 6-8hrs, only 2 of them involve you shooting or actually playing, the rest of the time is you watching cutscenes to an absolutely nonsensical story then to top it off, you literally watch their budget end.

Hey, sometimes the best things in life come in short instances. You can only have sex for so long before it falls off.

I've had it fall in every orifi... I mean...

This game deserves a sequel. I haven't even played it myself, but I watched 2-3 hours worth. It was tight!

I hate qte but I wasn't playing! Now, if only there was a mudwrestling dlc..

The only difference here is that you're paying full price in cash for that game. I don't know about you but I don't pay for my sex.

Any chance I could get paid?????
I got 2 quarters.

Just started this game. Impressive graphics (duh). I like wandering the interiors and the streets of London, absorbing the atmosphere. Lots of nicely crafted models. There's not much to interact with (objects, doors, people), though, and most all actions so far have been button prompts. Not sure about the story or characters yet. The mention of "Uther Pendragon" reminded me of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, so I'll probably have that stuck in my head for a while.

I'm probably about halfway through the game (assuming it's 6 hrs long). It's an okay game. Not a bad one.

The characters and story are middle of the road for videogames, nothing special, but not terrible. The plot centers on action, and that's about it. The word "filmic" has been ridiculed, but it's a good way to describe what they're attempting. The game definitely has a very cinematic feel. The cover shooter mechanics are pretty standard but still fun. There are a lot of QTEs. I don't mind games like that, so I'm fine with that aspect. I wish there was more exploration, and that the things you were able to interact with actually contributed to your character or the story somehow, rather than just adding an environmental touch.

It's keeping me interested enough to keep playing along. That's more than some games can do. For $20 or $25, I feel just fine about the purchase. I'd probably be ticked if I paid $60.

Just finished the game. I got annoyed with it about 3/4 of the way through. The characters started making decisions and having reactions that didn't make much sense. Then we get the dramatic emotional music, telling us we should be feeling X or Y, when the story and characterization hasn't "earned it," i.e., hasn't done anything to elicit that kind of response. Then we get the small room full of 40 bad guys, all types included, thrown at you just before the final boss fight -- an exercise in frustration. Then the button-press boss fight, lots of pretentious verbiage, and an ending which didn't make a whole lot of sense or feel satisfying.

Rating would be about a 6. I had some fun playing through it. It's not a terrible game by any means, and I think some of the outright dismissals aren't fair. The cover-based shooting is mostly enjoyable (except for that last bit), there are some fun lycan encounters, and you can ogle the graphics. The story and dialog just don't work to create any sense of connection or emotional investment in what's going on though, so after a while, it just feels like a mechanical exercise.
