I had a more expensive laptop from 10 years ago that had some pcmcia port or something on the side, but my more recent cheaper laptop has nothing. I was wondering if higher end laptops still have those expansion ports of some kind for that sort of thing.
I almost stepped on a possum tonight while walking up my lane to see wtf people were doing up there. They've been huffing gold paint lately and killing deer leaving them in the lane where I can't get around them. I thought I was walking up on a small dead dog or something because it wasn't moving and I didn't want to use any light at the time. I kicked it to see if it was alive and sure enough it was.

Previously PCMCIA or Express Card was used, but apparently modern USB 3 Thunderbolt can handle this without bottlenecking
Yeah I'm trying to paint a mental picture of Mr X's environment and I think I'm leaning towards
Kentucky. No landline phone service. 1X/2G mobile phone service. Expensive satellite broadband to communicate with my UVGF pals. No neighbors for over a mile in any direction. I live down a 1/4 mile driveway off the "main road". Single lane roads to get to the nearest town of 500 humans. 7 mile drive to get my mail in the local town. No UPS deliveries to my home. No local mail delivery. No city water (pumping water from wells or cisterns). No sewer systems (septic tanks or waste drains that empty into the woods). 35+ miles to any store that sells games or anything other than basic necessities. 40+ minute wait for emergency service. 1 hour drive to the nearest hospital. Hours of assault rifle fire and explosions on a daily basis.
That sort of area.

Ok So why do you choose to live in the sticks?
Sounds wonderful if you play this the right way, sounds horrific if played wrong.
That would be terrible and worse than where I am now. I didn't choose it, I was born into it and can't start over after living here this long and dedicating my entire life to this property and sinking so much money into it. Basically, I inherit this land after my mother and uncle die and it can't be sold until then. I maintain the 2 houses, 100+ acres of land, shoot at people when necessary (seriously) and that sort of stuff.
Idk where that is. I live in the northern part of the state. People around here shoot down telephone and power lines, bridge supports, and other destructive things. I've seen an abandoned car down the road with several thousand bullet holes in it a few years ago.
There's nothing but heroin and meth around these parts. Unless you're poor and have to huff paint...
I definitely played it wrong. Very wrong.
I'm not a primitive like the humans that live in the south and southeast that would use such instruments.
I had four days off but otherwise yea. A lot of times I take multiple days of just to have a longer weekend it gets kind of boring, but we had great weather this weekend so I got a lot done and spent a lot of time outside. Was going great until late afternoon when the dread started to set in. At least it's only a four day week at least.
Looking ahead to July 4 being on a Wednesday, so that will be nice to take that Monday and Tuesday off and have a long ass vacation.
4 days, nice. I still have over a week of vacation time left but I’m saving it. Played golf today with some buddies, felt like it was a 100 degrees outside. Feel drained so really not feeling it tomorrow lol.
One of my company's customers wanted freight unloaded, so I had to come to work for just 2 hours to move only 5 trailers. This s*** seriously couldn't wait till Tuesday?

Nothing that important. Our second customer recycles shredded scrap paper. Some of it is shredded documents, some of it is from companies who f-ed up and did a big run of misprints or had a color calibration wrong, some of it is shredded junk mail or old magazines. They somehow 'clean' all the ink out of the paper and resell it as huge bricks of paper pulp. It's kind of amazing to me how much paper we still use in the computer information age we live in.
Each 53' trailer can contain over 20 Tons or 18143 Kg. In 5 trailers I moved about 100 Tons or 200,000 Pounds to be unloaded.
It's my job to move the trailers to the docks to be unloaded by the forklift guys then move the empty trailers back to the drop lot.
It boring AF but pays okay I guess.
I always wonder why anyone would buy a sunblock lotion that is not the highest number, supposedly more protection, usually 50 or something when they cost the same. I always buy the highest number.
Also interestingly, in Japan i heard you can buy canned drinks of different size that cost the same amount of same type. & people will buy the smaller one. The logic they said is, they can’t finish the bigger one.

Same goes for McDonald’s coffee. I think it’s McDonald’s. All coffee sizes are same price.
