I like to boil my spuds before roasting them in a pan with about 1cm of oil in the base, and thinly sliced butter over the top at 200C.

I hate it when people roast pumpkin in the same pan.

MR X if you don't mind me asking, what do you do for a living? Is all of that land farmable or just wooded area? Sounds like it would be a nice quiet place to live if you could essentially just live off the land.

Right now, most of my loot comes from cedar logging and cutting/splitting/selling firewood on this property. I occasionally work for a local logging company in the fall and winter when they need extra help. We used to raise cattle and horse creatures when I was younger, and also grew tobacco and sold hay. As far as jobs away from this property...mostly factory/warehouse jobs and worked at a friend's local shop installing car audio and building custom sub enclosures.

I also worked at a meat packaging/processing plant. Don't eat hotdogs...

Two words, meth lab.

No, but I used to grow bad stuff for a few years way back in the day before bad people came to my residence wanting to look around.

I loved the Justified TV show.

every now and then I get this feeling something in my life is missing. I then go and buy something expensive and I'm good for awhile.

Eh. I feel like when I buy expensive items that I don't really need (like home furnishings and stuff) I get that "something is missing feeling" even more.

When I get that feeling I try to spend more time outside, always feel better and more relaxed after a long day of hiking, running, etc.

Never heard of it before. I see that t was on FX, but I don't ever remember seeing it ever mentioned.

Alright, what's wrong with them now....

I swear I never hear anything good about hot dogs.

It probably applies to everything we eat now, but the things I saw and was told to do is beyond disgusting. I've had to spray some sort of bugs off of thousands of them one night while they're still hanging together in links...they still used them afterward. Some people didn't clean machines or equipment well and sometimes you'd find meat so old and nasty it was green. Or people wouldn't wear proper clothing like hairnets and gloves while handling things on packaging lines.

I can't imagine.

One time I delivered products to a plant that processed chickens or turkeys for Butterball. Some guy with a front end loadeer was constantly loading, moving, and dumping this massive bin filling up with bloody bones coming out of a chute at the back of the plant. It was hard to fathom how a plant carved up poultry that fast.

All the while semi truck trailers were parked right next to the chute full of caged chickens waiting their turn lol.

Hmm, I might have to avoid hot dogs for a while...

Not that I eat them very often, but on top of the fact that I hear they aren't very healthy anyway, stuff like this just makes me cringe....

Grassfed 100% beef are just fine. The CLA has a lot of health benefits so make sure you don't get any that claim "low fat." I don't think any do though. CLA is in the fat.

What do you do when you’re a hard working, clean and sober straight laced guy but literally everyone in your family is on some type of drug? Drives me crazy. And unfortunately I’m not really in a position to distance myself from it.

Maybe I’m the weird one.

I'm the same way. I had a good run at the bars one summer when I was 26 but other than that I've never been big on drinking. I may have a dozen drinks in a year on average now. Last I smoked pot was on my 23rd birthday at a concert. It just wasn't me and I never really cared much for it.
I don't like not being clear of mind.

I left a lot of friendships behind me when they started doing coke all the time. Just didnt want to be aroumd it so I know where you're coming from.

I saw a semi trailer parked at a rest area once where the trailer was completely open and you could see all of the turkeys inside. The cages they were crammed into weren't even tall enough for them to stand. Many of them looked dead already and feathers were all over the parking lot. Poor little fellas.

Did you ever make that weirdo pay for your PS4 that he pissed on?

I hated the trend of software & games turning into service. It is the 'loot box' of software, & anti-consumer way to squeeze cash from the buyers, sorry I mean subscribers.
When I have the mood, I will write an article about it.

I don't know if that is part of it, if I'm just in a lull, or if I'm getting old, but I find it harder and harder to be excited for new games or to even play them in general. There are a few games I'm playing now but after about an hour I've had enough, and there are a lot of games on my backlist or that are out already that I haven't purchased yet, that, in previous years, I would have played day one.

Was in and out of sleep on the couch before the start of game 3 nhl finals. Wasn't sure if I was dreaming but they asked Sting and Shaggy on their input on the finals? WTF?

I turned it on midway through the last song and was confused. I knew it was Sting but otherwise no clue it was Shaggy or what the hell was going on. It didn't help that Pat Sajak did introductions as well lol.
