In addition to reliving these golden WWE memories, you'll finally have a true, discreet career mode for your created wrestlers in MyCareer. This mode has been lifted from NBA 2K14 and adapted to the WWE environment. While I didn't think the mode had the right synergy with the NBA, the WWE seems like a logical place to apply it. Imagine replacing all those cheese-ball, amateur hour characters and cutscenes with authentically voiced and mo-capped WWE Superstars. You get the picture. Exact details of the mode are still forthcoming, but we do know that it will be on the current-gen version only. Sorry, 360/PS3 stalwarts.
No matter what version you play, though, you'll get to enjoy the fruits of Visual Concepts' involvement. Over 50 days worth of motion capture sessions went on at 2K's state-of-the-art mo-cap facility, where WWE Superstars spent hours getting their signature moves digitally recreated. All told, WWE 2K15 features five times (FIVE TIMES! FIVE TIMES!) the animation data of 2K14. Thankfully, just as much effort has gone into improving the way the game sounds, the color commentary in particular. Over four times as many lines were recorded this time around, which should go a long way towards spicing up what has consistently been one of the franchise's presentational low points.
Hopefully that's a gameplay screen and not some cutscene.
To clarify a couple of points:
- Yes, that is an actual, in-game screenshot using developer screenshot tools (just like all the 2K14 screenshots you see us post on Twitter/FB). It was taken during gameplay, so it's not during an entrance or cut-scene or anything like that. The lighting, the depth-of-field, the light reflecting off the ropes.. it's 100% legit in-game.
- The really cool thing? It gets better. While this screenshot is impressive, it also doesn't get into the insane details of the character models. The advantage of both facial and body scans really comes through when you start noticing details about these people that you ordinarily take for granted, from bone structure to pigment variation to moles.. It's super nuts and it'll be a lot of fun to dissect each coming screenshot for these types of details.
- To that end, one detail that stands out to me here is John's veins. They're always very clear during a match, especially that squiggly one that goes down his right arm. You can see those here and rendered accurately, where in the past its always just been little highlights here and there. It's crazy.
Have it pre-ordered for my son...
Looks amazing hopefully it FINALLY plays right.
The controls especially in comparison to games like WWE Day of Reckoning and WWE Day of Reckoning 2 and the AI as you mentioned in comparison to The Fire Pro Wrestling series.I never had much of a problem with the gameplay, it was things like AI, hit detection and animations that needed most of the work IMO.
Graphics look real good, but unless they have a mode similar to 30 Years of Wrestlemania or the Attitude Era mode in WWE '13, then I'm content to wait for the next installment.
According to the community manager on the 2k15 official forums it is an in game photo.
Yeah, I saw that on gamefaqs soon after I posted that comment. I can't wait to see this game in motion.
Whoah dope graphics. Too bad I stopped taking wrestling serious after I discovered hair on my sack..
I grew up.
But if you still like the wrestling entertainment thing then enjoy the game.
Randy Orton is not that thick. I just googled him and he's a very lean ripped. But the screens do look rather good.
I think the pics are giving him a bit too much credit too, lol.
I don't watch wrestling so all I did was Google him after Eric made the comment, but I'm judging by the top left photo and the top right photo. In both his arms look a lot meatier than any of the pics that come up for him in a Google search. But like I said, I don't watch wrestling so I am really not the best person to be judging. Just weighing in.How can you really tell how "thick" he is though? they haven't put out a profile pic of him yet.
