The Xbox One Thread v4.0

Given what I've seen and the timing of games, it's really a classic case of history repeating itself, where Sony has a meh launch and tries to fill the void with trash talk.

- Sony launches a system with a mediocre launch library. Knack and KZ bombed. I can understand Knack as it was a kiddie platformer from the beginning, but KZ is Sony's flagship game

- To kill time and keep themselves busy, many Sony gamers spend time bashing the competition. And it can be seen with sales. PS4 has sold more consoles, yet despite all these supposedly better PS4 games, the attach rate of X1 is actually higher. You'd think with PS4 being $100 cheaper (let's you buy an extra game or two), and better games that the attach rates would be reversed. All talk

- The whole 60 fps debacle is a farce. Don't get me wrong, I love 60 fps myself. Yet perhaps only a handful of PS4 games run at a noticeably superior frame rate with Tomb Raider: Def Version being the poster child. Yet Forza 5 is still the only key exclusive on either system running at 1080p/60 fps consistently which is constantly ignored.

EA Sports, BF, CoD are all 60 fps on both systems. And the remaining key exclusives on PS4 (Knack and KZ) are a 30 fps platformer and a shooter that is 30 fps in SP and a wildly fluctuating "up to 60 fps" in MP. The Tomb Raider frame rate for PS4 is a big fluctuator too. I saw the DF YT video and it maxes at 60 fps but has so many roller coaster dips to 40-50 while X1 holds 30 fps 99% of the time. This can be seen with simple math as shown by DF as the avg frame rate for X1 was something like 29.8 while PS4 was about 50.

And going forward, PS4's key games coming Infamous and Drive Club are also 30 fps games. So with exception of Sony's unlocked frame rate in KZ MP, Sony's first party studios can't even get 60 fps themselves.

You were good until here. If people wanted to they could say the same thing about the XB1 and exclusives, considering it only has 1 that is 1080P and thats a racing games featuring a number of last generation hold ons.

No he's good as that's the point. All the talk about PS4 superiority when they are both "you could say the same thing".

But the problem with that is he is addressing the problem of 'no 1080P/60fps on XB1' not Ps4 superiority, there is no even arguing the second point its clear as day to any rational person. Whilst it is clear that neither console is really doing 1080/60fps locked games it is also clear which console should be able to do them easier.

Yeah, X1 is doing it easier. Forza 5 is the only key first party game doing it. Granted I have no idea (on an exact game for game basis) what all the indie/XBL/PSN quality games are like, but for each system I know it's hit and miss for 1080/60. Crimson Dragon is 1080/30 I think but Peggle 2 is 1080/60.

As for 1080/60, the only games which seem to be consistently hitting that on both systems is sports games from EA and 2k. FIFA, Madden and Live, and then 2k basketball are all 1080/60

Its really clear the Turn 10 (?) targeted 60FPS out of the gate, there were obviously sacrifices made to get there (and they are very visible) to say that means the XB1 can get to 1080P/60FPS easier is a bit of a stretch IMO they just had different goals in mind. Every single exclusive for the PS4 so far sans that game with a weird reso is 1080P afaik, it should tell you which console is having less trouble, it really should.

Oh, and KI is 60 fps too.

and 720P, we are chasing the elusive 1080P/60FPS monster remember. As I said I don't really think either console is targeting majorly atm and both can obviously get there, the real discussion should be about what kind of sacrifices need to be make on both sides to make it.

Especially considering even the 360 could do 1080p and 60 fps. Games might not look that great though lol.

And that monster is Forza 5. But hey, if you want to pretend it doesn't exist go ahead.

I don't want sacrifices for something I can't even tell the difference.

When have I pretended it doesn't exist?, aside from Forza there isn't really any 1080P let alone 1080P/60fps games are there?. To be hitching your opinion that the XB1 is better at 1080P/60FPS to a single game and single developer is not drawing anywhere near a large enough same size.

All the EA Sports and NBA 2k14 are 1080p/60 as well.

And without Googling all the disc based games, I'm pretty sure all those Zumba/Dance games, NFS, Lego, Tomb Raider are 1080p with frame rate being 30 or 60 depending on the game.

I'm pretty sure Plants Zombies Garden Warfare is 1080/60 too.

Those games aren't doing much to push the hardware lol. Something you keep skipping over.

I'm talking about exclusives, games that really push the console, of course the sports games are going to be 1080P/60.

Tomb Raider actually drops down to 900P during some of the cutscenes, but I ignore that for now. Zumba
/Dance games are kinda a joke man, if you need to goto them to demonstrate 1080P :/

You didn't state so, as it seemed you were curtailing into any game. But if you are focused on exclusives only then as I said Forza 5 is the only 1080p/60 game right now. You don't like that, but too bad.

Thats not what I'm saying you need to stop and think about what I'm saying. The number of 1080P gams on the XB1 is dwarfed by the number on the PS4, from that alone its obvious which one hits 1080P easier, at least for now, to try and say that the XB1 can hit 1080P/60FPS easier because 1 game does, and the only game really on either console that does, is a bit strange.

So make up your mind, are you talking exclusives or any game? You are going back and forth.

Since you are now back to exclusives, then PS4 has Knack and KZ. (Knack is 30 fps and KZ flip flops between 30 and 60). X1 has one 1080p exclusive game running at 60 fps. Yeah, 2-1 is dwarfing. I'd rather have the 1080p/60 fps Forza 5, which is the only 1080p/60 key exclusive on either system.

Now if you are going to flip flop again and talk about any game, then see my list above about X1 games doing 1080p/30 or 1080p/60.

Why is this argument even going on? anyone with a brain knows ps4>xb1 in terms of console power.

You guys are Making me head hurt:confused:

I just wanted to say- just escaped the shanty town about half way through Tomb Raider, and I've got to say that the graphics are some if the best I've seen this gen. All the lighting, shadows, physics, and particles! Quite amaze-balls! Full 1080p smooth with all that stuff going on:bang:

Really, really impressive. s*** looks pre- rendered sometimes, damn.

Resogun is a great 1080P/60FPS exclusive and there are plenty of others. My point is that Forza is an exception, which has obvious sacrifices to make it, and based on what we have seen I do not think the XB1 is as capable of 1080P/60FPS as the PS4 based off current games and having some insight to both the architectures.

It was always the game I bought I up in threads about graphics. Granted that was for the PC version, but this console version is equal or better than for the most part. I know people harp on about crysis 3, but for me, Tomb Raider and Metro Last light were the true kings of graphics, cause they did so within a decent game. They weren't all show and no substance.

Seriously....my expression every time I enter this thread...

...will we ever get back on topic and stay there? Vince doesn't even know...

I thought this was the v4. this is no different from the 1, 2, or 3.

It's a side scroller lol.
