ya'll do know that the ps4 can use tiled resources also right?

from GDC Europe last year

Starts on Pg29

The GPU in both the PS4 and Xbox One are DX11.2 capable but only the Xbox One has the custom DX11.2 API. The PS4 will use OpenGL and its equivalent PRT APIs. That said, it will see very little benefit for the PS4 as it already has a large enough bandwidth (though less than ESRAM) for its entire pool of GDDR5 memory.

i hope all this title resources, esram, cloud talk comes true just to see the meltdowns. Can see it now Halo 5 1080p/60fps making killzone look avg hahaha.

serious enough to get close to parody would be a good start.

The problem is that people assume that things like tiled resources aren't available to the competition when the hardware in both regarding that is most likely identical, now eSRAM is good sure, but unfortunately we know that very few workloads in the GPU are bandwidth bound and far more are ALU / TEX bound so if your expecting some huge performance increase form the eSRAM your in for a sore disappointment.

The eSRAM is 109GB/s and can reach ~150GB/s in some work loads, neither is faster then the GDDR5.

This is actually Old news. We have known about tiled resources since before or at launch, and we have known about the SDK update for weeks now too. All that is left is too wait a bit and see how games are effected.
Shoot I just went on a rant a couple of days ago talking about how MS needs to start doing stuff with it.

Where is the cloud making xbox one 4 times more powerful :hehe: If they can come through on that then that would be impressive
give it time because they are testing the water. Look how long it took xbox live to come out after the first xbox came out, that was a whole year and look how it changed the game for online gaming for consoles. They will do it again with their cloud system.

We've seen the Xbox One dash and the media functions are pretty cool, but first and foremost, it's all about the games. It's safe to say that there are two major areas of controversy surrounding the Xbox One design - specifically the areas in which it is considered weaker than the PlayStation 4: the memory set-up and the amount of GPU power on tap. Both systems have 8GB of RAM, but Sony chose 8GB of wide, fast GDDR5 with 176GB/s of peak throughput while Microsoft opted for DDR3, with a maximum rated bandwidth of just 68GB/s - clearly significantly lower. However, this is supplemented by on-chip ESRAM, which tops out at 204GB/s. In theory then, while marshalling and dividing resources between the two memory pools will be a factor, Xbox One clearly has its own approach for ensuring adequate bandwidth across the system.

I hate to cross-post, but I figured most people wouldn't catch this rumor.....I've never heard of OR needing a camera, so why would these...? Or is this plausible? From some random guy on another forum:
I'm posting this here because I don't want to get banned at neogaf or downvoted to hell on reddit.

Rumor: Both Xbox One and PS4 will require a camera for their virtual reality headsets to do body tracking (position in the room).

Xbox One: Already comes with the kinect camera that has infrared cameras on it and the controllers also have infrared lights.

PS4: Camera does not have these capabilities but they can track the controllers with the lights on them, that's why they refuse to turn off the controllers on the lights with firmware because they need them in the near future. So you will either need to buy the current ps4 camera (if it works with the VR headset) or buy a new upgraded more expensive model just to do the same thing the kinect camera already does.

These headsets are slated to cost anywhere from $199-$299 for both systems and for the PS4 you will still need to buy a camera since most don't already own one and there is a chance the current camera won't work with the VR headset so you would need to buy the more expensive model so in the end with the PS4 you would be spending more money (Headset + Camera) $300-$400

For MS's and every Xbox One owners' sake, I hope it's true.
Not saying your a troll at all let me be clear on that.
I think that when all this comes together its gonna be a great day on this forum because trolls won't be coming on X1 threads to talk smack.
I really hope that X1 fans will keep it in house, unlike a some 4 players.
I don't own a 4 so I don't get on their threads,so I don't know if PS threads get trolled by X1 fans.

"Theoretical peak performance is one thing, but in real-life scenarios it's believed that 133GB/s throughput has been achieved with alpha transparency blending operations (FP16 x4)."

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-xbox-one-memory-better-in-production-hardware

By the way if using DDR3 for your graphics memory and then weakening your GPU by taking up over a billion transistors of it with 32 megabytes of ESRAM resulted in better performance, why doesn't a single advanced graphics card now or planned in the future do it?

They cant utilize it like the X1 though. be like I phone to a windows pbone. Wether you admit it or not window phones are better.

Both have tiled resources. And PS4 actually has DX 11.2+. Let the games do the talking instead of hopes and dreams, and if you must speculate about the future at least stick to reading Beyond3D rather than Puresoul's (aka misterxmedia's) blog.

Man your going to be stuffed with crow when everything is said and done.
I doubt you will even show up on another X1 thread again.
Take that back you will, just under a different name saying how great a console it is.

yeah after reading that, it doesn't seem like ps4 is setup as well to do tiled resources

I hope you're right! But it probably won't happen because I've looked at the specs. Listen, if Xbox One multiplatform games ever surpass PS4 ones I will be first in line to get one, as the best versions of multiplatform games is the #1 most important issue to me and why I went with Xbox and 360 as my console the last 11 years. But until then there is a long road ahead as there is not a single example of this.

This stuff has been known for months. Its just that now developers are stating to get easier dev kits that we are hearing

That's where we are different X1 has exclusives that are top notch, and almost every category. I can deal with mutiplats being a little less than the 4 versions. Mainly because I don't see the difference, though I'm sure there is.
More than welcome to respond, but I'm dropping this. This is an Pro X1 thread after all. I see know point in discussing a console I have no intention of getting.
Plus I have been very vocal about keeping this thread to X1 thread. I don't want to be a hypocrite.

It's not trolling, I genuinely hope that is the case because it can push me further to get one. Right now, I have no incentives to.

When the day comes where Xbox one has significantly narrowed the gap and enough interesting exclusives are out for it, I will be getting one. Need to drop that price first though and still unsure about the Kinect.

Seriously. You guys need to go somewhere with the negatives. There are multi platform threads and even PS threads for this. Kind of pathetic some of you guys have a problem following directions. You were asked to chill out with this crap numerous times. Especially Yo. All things being equal, most members on this forum dont visit the PS forums and half of us can hardly stand the multi threads anymore, so we simply keep it on the Xbox side. If we did this on the PS forums, all hell would break loose. Stay out of the threads if you cant follow direction or stay on topic.

I said you weren't trolling chill, I even went as far to point that out, lol. Chill man

Man, you guys are too sensitive. Chill out. It's just plastic. I'm loving my Xbox one but I'd really like to dig my claws into other consoles. Heck I can't seem to let go of my 3DS.

Everyone here is chill. But same as the 4 gamers hardly hear from any X1 gamers in the PS forums, we should expect the same. No need to just accept this lopsided exercise of being equal when things are not. This is clearly a pro Xbox forum and for all intents and purposes, most of us would like it to stay that way. If there are opposing opinions, then there is a thread for that. But it gets tiring having every thread over run by the typical trolls posts by the same trolls who hail the 4 as the end all be all. And thats fine if they want to believe that. But those who want to speak about Xbox in a positive light and have civilized discussions, would like the same thing. I dont think we're asking too much at all-especially if you consider the general rules of the Union forums to be begin with. On can hardly call it "trolling" if we have a negative comment about the 4, but still in the Xbox forums. You're still in the zone... (so to speak)

I never go into the PS threads myself as I have nothing there to discuss, and if I do, its always, always, positive comments or threads. I dont troll and thats because I respect the fact that PS owners have every right to speak positively about the 4 and enjoy a discussion without the trolling. We should not have to lower our standards in Xbox forums, and should fully expect the same in return. I do. Thats all Im sayin...

Its not about "defending plastic" ( No offense but I hate that expression as it comes off as fake and someone who's attempting NOT to show their fanboyism as we are all fanboys to some degree....) Its about principles and having a certain level of expectation, especially when one side of the forums pretty much have the same respect-at least from myself and a few others.

Again with this spec stuff? :smash: Can we stop the system comparisons? That goes for both "sides". I swear this is the exact s*** people have been saying all last friggin' year.

Also, let's temper our enthusiasm until these resources start actually getting used. I don't think we understand half of what we think we do. ..

Your mistaken there, Rage is 60fps on both consoles and has a variable resolution of between 640x720 and 1280x720

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-rage-face-off
Now I can't remember what article, but another one said what I said. I didn't look at the date maybe a rumour b4 release bt didn't say anything of being a rumour.

Why do you have a need to make crap up? First you say how eSRAM is bottleneck and when there's a solution all the sudden that's not a prob but something else is.
So all the sudden eSRAM is 109GB/s and GDDR5 is 176GB/s well if you are going to use theoretically possible max then use it for both. 109GB/s is actually bare minimum for eSRAM and you would need to try to just get that low bandwidth. eSRAM is 204GB/s with combined 272GB/s and sustained test of 200GB/s. You sound so rediculous saying eSRAM is slower than GDDR5 when any place in the world will tell you otherwise. Except neogaf because according to them bandwidth can't be added up even though doing dual channel on PC results in double ram bandwidth.

And if I remember correctly the "resolution gate" is because you can't fit entire 1080p frame into eSRAM

I am chill, you're the one taking offense and telling me to go somewhere else when all I'm talking about is how I want the new SDK to benefit the Xbox One as it would give me even more incentive to get one. I never mentioned the 4 at all in this regard. Just sit back and relax, not everyone's going to be saying "love my xbox" in the Xbox thread. There is room for criticisms too.

I said you weren't trolling chill, I even went as far to point that out, lol. Chill man

Yeah, I know. Just wanted to state things from my perspective.

Ryse is so freaking sweet! I don't know why it received such low reviews. The only thing I really didn't like were some of the boss battles. They were kind of lame, and the campaign was short. Also I didn't realize that when the symbol popped up over peoples head that was how you did an execution till like chapter 6,LOL.
The game deserved a lot higher score than what it received.
