Official Thread Titanfall 2

I give Respawn the benefit of the doubt. Am I happy about slowing the game down? No. But Titanfall while brilliant was also tremendously flawed. Weapons balance for both Titan and Pilots was atrocious. Most players tended to settle into the same couple of load outs.

Titanfall 2 sounds less like a bigger and badder sequel and more like a reimagining of the game. Great games are accessible for newbies and provide enough teeth and depth to reward the experienced players. As long as the second part is there then I applaud improvements to the first part. There is nothing wrong with sign posts in a game: this is what you do...where you go....etc.

Its funny because everything I have read from impressions has led me to believe that the game play hasn't slowed at all. What they seem to have done is toned down jumping, specifically jumping height. Which in turn means the traversing of the map is a little more limited. However, this seems to have been done to make the grappling hook relevant and worth picking. Which in turn is meant to help diversify the battlefield and pilots.

I'm super intrigued by the grappling hook. With the way you can manipulate it, it sounds like it offers some super advanced, creative moves particularly when combining with the wall running and hopping.

Titanfall 2 Live Multiplayer Match to be Streamed This Month

Electronic Arts has not announced a briefing for Gamescom later this month, but one of the company's biggest upcoming games will be there. Developer Respawn has announced that Titanfall 2 will be shown off during the German event in the form of a live multiplayer match.

This will take place on August 16 and is called the Factions multiplayer event. As part of this, Respawn has recruited a number of gaming personalities to participate in multiplayer matches. The event kicks off at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET on August 16 and will be streamed live through the Titanfall Twitch channel.

Awesome!

New single player footage. I know they talked about having slowed down the gameplay, but it looks like that slow down was very minimal.

Not going to watch it. I am going to leave the single player footage and news well alone for once. I am sure we will get plenty of Multiplayer footage to keep my appetite at manageable levels

For those of you that didn't play TF, get TF 2 (assuming they don't somehow kill the game). TF was an excellent game. The main drawback was there was no real SP mode.... as it was comprised of 9-10 acts which were online matches masked as storyline stuff.

It's sci-fi with bold colours but totally different than Halo.

A good game to get if:

- You want some sci-fi
- You don't care about SP and want to just jump into MP
- You like mechs
- You like big maps
- You like games with a good mix of people using different guns
- You like fast paced shooters.... TF has unlimited sprint, which yu can default as "sprint always on", mechs can boost fast, gamers can wall jump, jet boost jump etc....
- You don't like campers. This game is hard to camp so most gamers don't bother.... trust me I've tried!!! Game plays too fast with lots of opportunity for gamers to leap rooftops, jump through windows or use mechs to shoot high explosives in your second floor window. For most gamers, it's a run and gun game. For me, it's a very stick and move game as I still try to camp a bit if I can

Scratch that about SP campaign. TF 2 is supposed to have a fleshed out traditional SP mode. So if you like SP, then TF 2 has it.

It's gonna be hell trying to kill the smaller pilots after you destroy the smaller Titans. They'll be hopping around like little fleas or Antman or some s***...

Pilot, "DON'T YOU RUN FROM ME! “

I just watched the IGN videos... It looks soooo slow by comparison to TF. Like, lethargically slow.
Oh crap. I just watched some of the new videos. Yeah, the guy runs around at Call of Duty speed now.... instead of let''s say CoD at 1.5-2.0x.

Looks like the trend to copy CoD continues. You;d think these ex-CoD guys would try to distance themselves from it. And they did with TF, but the gameplay has more CoD feel then ever before.

New multiplayer trailer!!!!

Damn good trailer. This did a better job of showing the pacing than the E3 trailer.

Looking forward to playing this weekend!

Today, Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) announced that the Titanfall® 2 Open Multiplayer Technical Test will be available across two weekends in August for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft. Fans will be able to get their hands on the fast, fluid, Pilot and Titan gameplay that is at the core of the Titanfall experience while helping the team at Respawn test the Titanfall 2 servers and backend systems prior to the games release on October 28th worldwide.

It all starts the weekend of Friday, August 19th, where fans will be able to play two exciting new Titanfall 2 multiplayer modes across two maps:

MODES
Bounty Hunt (5v5): A brand new mode that pits Pilots and their teammates against an opposing team as well as the Remnant Fleet. Earn bonuses by killing grunts and enemies, but make sure and deposit all your points at the bank between waves without getting killed.
Pilots vs. Pilots (8v:cool:: Players can be the best Pilot on the Frontier and put their combat and mobility skills to the ultimate test in this classic 8 vs 8 Pilots only mode.
MAPS
Boomtown: A secret underground IMC facility where the latest in R&D is put to the test. In this facility Pilots can use the many peaked roofs to use as cover against combatants below. With tight lanes through the middle, Titans can also be easily ambushed.
Homestead: The IMC have claimed Imminent Domain on a small commune’s plot of land. With a series of raised, rocky plateaus and a river running down the middle, Pilots are mostly safe from Titans among the rocks and trees but they also can duck into the caves and building when needed. However, the Titans control the large rolling fields.

During the second weekend of the Titanfall 2 open multiplayer technical test, all the content from the previous weekend will still be available, plus a brand new mode and map for players to enjoy:

MODE
Amped Hardpoint (6v6): A new twist on Hardpoint Domination from the original game; now defending a Hardpoint will let you amp it, giving your team double score. Team work is the key to securing victory.
MAP
Forward Base Kodai: Militia forces have taken over an IMC substation and set up a forward operating base. Pilots can find safety from Titans in the hallways and chambers of the main building, while Titans can walk over the roof to get a better view of the action.

During the open multiplayer technical test, fans will have access to two all-new Titans: Ion and Scorch, as well as a range of Pilot tactical abilities including Grapple, Holo Point, and Pulse Blade. Fans will also have access to a variety of weapons including a deadly horizontal spread shotgun known as the Masttiff and the Alternator, a dual-barrel SMG.

To me it did. It looked heavier if that makes sense.

Looked like the chained wall running was slowed down.

Maybe. I only watched it once. I was playing titanfall only about three weeks and I thought I'd be more surprised at the speed reduction but honestly it didn't look like much to me. That could turn out to completely different after I play it though

No burn cards is an interesting change, but they replaced it with one card you take in for the whole match instead.

I loved the burn cards. Lets see how this version of it works out.

I played it today on PS4...some serious controller latency going on that wasn't in Titanfall 1.

edit: Watched the Digital Foundry video and they agree, due to VSYNC now being used and inconsistent performance.

Well yeah. Downgradebox One confirmed. I think the X1 version has better frame rate though. Performance is more important so whatever.
And yet, it somehow looks better than TF 1. Showing how ps aren't everything.

TF1 was 792p

TF2 is supposedly 720p. But the game looks better, has better frame rate, and screen tearing is either zero, or so little nobody can see it.

So it shows P's aren't everything.

It's a shame that many people don't understand this. I'd much rather have frame rate and nice lighting over resolution.
