Titanfall: The Official Thread v3.0 (Xbox One & Xbox 360)

I think it's safe to say Titanfall is the greatest shooter of all time. It's not even up for debate.
Got that right TD! ;)

Exaggerations aside (from both of us), no doubt TF is the best and most fresh playing game in years. And will be unless the next Halo, CoD, BF, KZ, Sunset or new IPs come out and out do it.

Unless something awesome comes out this fall, TF will probably be the most fun and fresh shooter going into 2015.

The only game I can think of that may out do it is Evolve.

I would agree that Titanfall is an incredibly fresh shooter, and a shot in the arm that the genre desperately needed. Its the lack of depth that Titanfall falls short in though. This can be remedied through future updates and DLC no doubt, but it is surprising that it lacks so much out of the gate.

The game play is absolutely outstanding though, so I have no complaints there. Its what surrounds it that needs to be fleshed out. I haven't played it in a few days, so I look forward to getting some games in tonight. No doubt Titanfall 2 will be outstanding.

I have only played Titanfall for a few sessions. But there is tearing. Plus framerate issues and stuttering through cinematics.

It really is.

I think that getting into other shooters will be hard after playing TF...
*WTF no wall running???* *WTF no double jump???* *WTF where is my Titan???*

The only thing that really hurts is... I so much want to play that game in LAN-mode! :/

there wont be a performance boost, even if they said they might do it. it is very stupid as a developer to go back on a launched product to change things that may/will effect the core of the game, which will need to go through all the testing again

its just not wise and its not worth it.

I tend to agree with you on this.

Performance boosts happen pretty often in gaming. They seldom effect the core of the game. Take Titanfalls slight dips in FPS in hectic moments, they could asily be tweaked via slight optimization progress or better drivers via patch. Perhaps the issues here are not local and are due to cloud usage ? which would be even less work. since it could all be done server side.

Not sure what you mean by "Going back" though in regards to Titanfall ? you speaking of the talked about Resolution increase ?

yeah my comment included resolution.

btw can you give me an example of a game getting a performance/visual boost on console after launch? cause i sure as hell have never seen it

i work as a software developer and after QA is done its a real downer to do that stuff all over again. so unless its a drastic improvement (i am talking SOLID 60fps and/or 900p) i dont see it happening

How drastic will vary game by game, dev by dev. Also I'm not saying this happens all the time on consoles, but it does happen, and gaming in general it happens more so.

The most recent game that I can think of to get a patch that increased performance was COD:Ghosts on the 360.

I do not know what software you develop, but if it is a big mass market product then you will know that the general masses find issues that QA miss. These things can directly effect performance, in normal software it may be booting up time, or responsiveness, in games, it can be FPS.

BF1942 and BF2 laugh at you :D

Also, was this posted ?

UK Titanfall sales spike 220 percent after Xbox 360 launch

Titanfall has leapt back to the top of the UK games chart following the launch of the Xbox 360 version last week. The well-received last-gen version accounted for 71 percent of sales for the game, with 27 percent going to Xbox One and a single percent of sales on PC.

All in all, Titanfall's sales jumped 220 percent from the previous week.

resolution and FPS improvements? i doubt it. if they are network issues then ofcourse they can/will fix it.

but i have NEVER seen a resolution or frames improvement after a console game has launched. its just not smart or logical or makes business sense. aslong as the game is playable they will not improve it, not to mention the resolution/frames they achieved is the best they can do at that time. future games will improve it as they optimise better but they will not put man hours on improving THE CORE of the game that is already released and playable

i work on data management software that requires alot of data processing and multiple variables so any fix made needs to be done with care and end with a QA process, i work at a small company so i know the QA team well and they sure ashell dont appreciate it lol QA does miss stuff (not a lot mind you) but they are usually small things that are fixed instantly. games are the same, bugs arent game breaking and they can/will be fixed quickly.. but they wont mess with the core unless its BROKEN

Point is, Respawn probably wouldn't have said anything about a future resolution increase if they weren't sure of their capability to implement it. Im sure its coming. Might be a matter of old SDK vs new SDK.

Resolution, no. We can drop discussion on that as I am in agreement with you there. I have never seen it in a game.

As for increase in FPS, not so much. More like stabilizing to get more consistency.

Assassins Creed 4 on the PS4 got a resolution upgrade via a patch

Ubisoft recently revealed that the PS4 version of Assassin's Creed 4 would gain an update shortly after the game's release, bumping up the rendering resolution from 900p to 1080p, along with some improved visual effects and a new anti-aliasing solution, with all of this possible via further optimisation work carried out after core development was completed.

yeah, day one patch

i am guessing they KNEW ps4 would handle it and just didnt have the time, once it went gold they had time to apply it. from a case like Titanfall they need to be using tricks and new SDKs and stuff to allow the X1 to improve the performance

The patch was three weeks after the game released.

well depends on when PS4 launched in your area. i am sure it was day one for UK (Nov29th). cause i remember it being Day one. but i guess that doesnt matter since they just worked on it after it went gold anyway
