What TV show have you seen recently ? Episode one

Gave Star Trek Enterprise on Netflix a shot and I'm really enjoying it, just started the final season and I really like the cast and the story telling, it's too bad this show only got 4 seasons. .
I don't remember much from the show now but that is probably the one I've seen the most out of the various Star Trek shows. Can't remember which channel used to show it but I remember watching it quite often. I've been meaning to go back and watch at least TOS, TNG, and Enterprise sometime. Discovery looks good but I'll wait until it's available elsewhere.

I was a fan of the reruns of the original series when I was a kid, never got into TNG or DS9 but loved Voyager mainly because of the cast and just the overall dynamic and I loved the ship design as well. I am almost done with Enterprise now, while I enjoyed almost every episode I'd have to say seasons 3 and 4 are awesome and it's a shame it wasn't given more time. Discovery is good and has special effects that rival that of feature films, there are areas where it could improve for sure though, hopefully given more time they'll find out how to tell a better story.

You guys are liars! I was just gaming with a friend and asked him if he watched Mindhunters on Netflix. His response...

Him: "Yeah, I watched the first episode but couldn't really get into it."

Me: "Why not? What didn't you like about it?"

Him: "I thought the main character was a really bad actor."

Me: "$%$*!!!"

I am not alone!

WTF!

So I get that they're setting up Holden to be a "good" sociopath but sociopaths are almost always highly intelligent people. This Holden character is portrayed fairly dimwitted.

He's an FBI Agent, which is an elite branch of law enforcement, but he doesn't know how to interact with regular police? "Why do they get upset when I reference obscure literary works in relation to the horrific small town murder they've been stuck on?" In other scenes, he shows an advanced form of empathy and ability to read people, yet he doesn't know when a woman shows interest? Pick one or the other. Making him a doofus in half the scenes and highly capable in others just seems inconsistent.

Oh and he's playing the naive midwestern boy but he's 29 years old and gone through some pretty crazy stuff already? It's like he's being told to act 16, even though the character is almost 30.

Go rewatch the scene where Holden meets his girlfriend at the bar. That is truly awful acting and dialogue on both actors parts. They're both complete stiffs.

And the scene where Holden tells the old cop that they can't help him on their case? The cop freaks out and his newly aquired FBI agent partner goes nuts on him in the car? Why would the old timey cop think these two seminar giving FBI agents be able to solve his case in one short evening? Why are we supposed to believe his response is natural?

It sounds like the show improves as it goes on but that is a rough first episode.

Any opinions on Altered Carbon?

Seems like reviews are lukewarm but viewers rate it highly,

Think I'll check it out.

Already like the lead actor who was in "the killing" which was a really good murder/crime-drama thing that felt kind of like the wire meets law and order or something.

My suggestion is to not listen to reviews in most things. I didn't read the book but after two episodes I absolutely love the show. If you are a fan of Blade Runner visuals/setting, detective stuff, and futuristic mind f***ery, then definitely check it out.

Have watched through first half of the first season of The Grand Tour. Never watched much of Top Gear minus clips on YouTube but I'm enjoying it. I will say their insistence on having hot women standing behind Clarkson is distracting for my juvenile brain.

I started watching this Italian mafia show on Netflix called suburra and damn what a sight Rome is shot in 4k. Easily the best looking show I've watched pure orgasm for the eyes.

Few episodes into altered carbon and am liking it more and more with each episode.

I just finished Mindhunter. Really liked the show. I still hope the actors who play Holden and Holdens girlfriend get replaced next season because they bad. The girlfriend in particular is a trainwreck of an actress .

Black Mirror is fantastic. I'm still working on the latest season.

Some of those episodes still give me chills. White Bear... omg.

I stream it later at night after my wife goes to bed and on more than one occasion I've woken her up just streaming "holy s*** at the TV".

Only have watched the first season of Black Mirror. Got Netflix for Altered Carbon and had a few days before that launched so plenty of time to go through that first season. I enjoyed it.

Rank you have to change your avatar back to Rocky. I miss seeing him.
You are absolutely right. I'm really flattered that you remembered his name. We finally did get another another dog. Tried to adopt a dane for years but with 2 than 3 little kids, all we were "qualified" for was really old ones and we would usually be 3rd or farther down on the waiting list for the younger ones. Anyhoo, meet Kaiser
