Which 4K HDR TV are you planning to buy for Scorpio or One s?

I'm thinking of doing it all in one big upgrade a year from now. Holiday deals will ensure I get good value on the TV. I fully expect to be blown away. I have never upgraded console and TV at one time much less a generational jump to 4K. I still have memories of attaching the box with a butter knife to the back of a color!!!! 19 inch set. Gaming has come so far.

totes agree with this :) my other half wasn't happy but the retailer had a 10% off deal on the set that got it down to £971 and at the 'till' he said the 'other' offer was still valid so walked out with a LG SH2 sound bar for free :) Sold my 4 year old Panny to a family member and I feel like I made out like a bandit today. :)

I'm a bit surprised to see people speak highly of Vizios. Forgive my ignorance but I always viewed Vizios as the "welfare" models of TV. I just don't trust them and see them as having cheap circuitry. Maybe I should give them a try but my eyes are set on LG OLED.....specifically the 2016 Enthusiast model. Really wanted the 77' Signature model but that price is out of reach. I've been researching the LG OLED models and these sets are damn near perfect. Can't see myself without one at some point before Scorpio is released.

The OLED's are stunning. I would love to have one. I can't justify the current price differences for inky blacks though. Hopefully in a year they come down in price.

Yeah I hear ya... my plan is to pick up the 2016 LG "E" model in holiday 2017 and hopefully by then the price will come down. Right now it's priced at 6,000.00 at Best Buy. Hopefully the price will come down to at least the mid-4k range by next Holiday season.

It's all relative when you think about the fact that only 20 or so years ago, Samsung had that very same image... way less than that for LG, which was known as Goldstar, selling $20 VHS players at Wal-Mart. Just food for thought.

I hear Visio is so popular now because they are delivering performance and features at a price nobody can touch. It may not compare to Sony or Samsung in quality, but Visio may have Dolby Vision, when those don't, and yet for a lot less $....etc.

Skimming reviews, Vizio's get decent reviews. But it's sometimes a hit and miss kind of affair, while a brand like Panny and Samsung have consistent ratings.

And for sure, 20 years ago Samsung and LG (Lucky Dorky Goldstar) were the pits. Right beside other bottom feeders like RCA, Magnavox and Zenith.

But give those Korean brands credit. Out of nowhere they perked up and are leading electronic brands right up there with the best of them. And also expanded into home appliances and phones too.

Impressive, since a few decades ago they were bargain brands.

Right, and all three of those bottom feeders you mentioned were originally US-owned, and also originally state of the art in the 60s-80s. It's kinda interesting that the torch was passed from USA>Japan>S.Korea for tech leaders in the TV industry. A generalization, sure, but it's also a pretty solid summarization, IMO.

put it this way if they have their TVs in Bestbuy then its not a cheap company. But then again you have Samsung in walmart as well.

I don't understand, the 65" LG OLED TV (C60LED) goes for $6,000 and the 55" LG OLED TV (B60LED) is half that at $3,000. The only difference I see other than size is that the smaller version doesn't do 3D which is no big deal.

Obviously I'd much rather have the larger version, but not at double the cost.

I saw in the reviews the say game mode on these run at 34MS, not bad.

It's probably because the technology behind OLED is a little iffy. My understanding is all the kinks to be worked are really not quite there.

The Samsung KS8500 that I just bought has an input lag of 23ms in game mode, which is very nice. Out of game mode is like 130ms with interpolation (horrible) and 123 without interpolation.

The best I see out there is the Visio D series @ ~13ms, but it's ratings are lower. It is only 1200 for the 65" (the 40" is only $500!!!) and it's full-array backlit, but it's local dimming is worse than the one I have, which I find interesting as mine is not full-array.

Here is a great comparative site that covers a ton of different aspects of the different TVs

http://www.rtings.com/tv/tests/video-games/input-lag

The highest rated there is the LG E6, but the 65 in set is Six GRAND!!

The one I've got has everything but Dolby HDR and 3D (which is a bummer, but I never used it all that much on my last TV, so I will live, lol).

Preordered my S and getting this one at weekend.

http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-and...d-4k-ultra-hd-hdr-49-led-tv-10144245-pdt.html

Does both versions of HDR. HDR10 and Dolby Vision.
I'm told HDR TV's can't do Dolby, but Dolby does HDR10. So a bit of win win if one becomes the standard.

I got the same set :) It's freaking huge and I love it to death already. Can't wait now for my One S and have pre-ordered Batman v Superman as my first ever 4K UHD Blu Ray

Man, I just started watching Marco Polo on nexflix UHD! Great show, and looks amazing! My connection is holding up well. I'm watching a 4k stream in one room and the kids are streaming 1080 in the other!

If you haven't yet check out Stranger Things, possibly the best show on Netflix.

OLED still concerns me for gaming, they always have a beautiful picture but image retention isn't something I want to worry about when I spend that kind of money on a tv.

http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/b6

The LG B6 is not the best TV for hardcore gamer who need fast reflex. The input lag is average and it does not support 1080p resolution at 120Hz. The casual gamer should still be okay, since the TV can accept a wide range of resolutions and has a low amount of motion blur. But gamers be aware, as with all other OLED TVs tested so far, the image retention is still problematic with this set.

I have decided to buy a 4k Samsung TV when the time is right. So like, maybe 2018 or something. I don't know. But i figured you'd guys would like to know. In case you wanted to be like TD. You're welcome.

Have you had any image retention issues as others have mentioned above? Interestingly at this link below the LG E6 OLED model is ranked the best at a 9.1 for video games so is the image retention really that bad?

http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/by-usage/video-gaming/best

None what so ever. Games, movies, everything's incredible. No motion blur, no having to sit in the center for the sweet spot. Amazing TV, I bought the C6 since the image is pretty much identical to the E and G series and I didn't need the soundbar.
