Who's upgrading their PS4 harddrive right away?

there is no mandatory full game installs for ps4 games.its an option Sony said this months ago.
It's a shame for xbone 1 owners that can't upgrade there hard drive unless ms changed that

I've still got 32GB free on my launch day 60GB PS3 console. Just goes to show how much gaming I actually do. I won't be installing any games on my console and will be going 'disk' only for the entire generation minus any PS+ purchases, naturally.

I think some games at least have mandatory installs on the PS4, the COD Ghost box says a minimum of 49GB is needed for example.

No, they didn't change that and since they're using a hybrid HD with an 8GB flash portion that is either going to be for suspend/restore or OS most likely, it actually makes sense. Still would have preferred they got that on the system somehow to allow for drive replacement, but with support for external drives it's not terrible.

I'm going with a 1TB SSHD because I want full game installs but it's awesome news!

It looks like I'll be replacing the PS4's hard drive with an SSD at launch. The performance/load time boost I got with an SSD on my PC was nothing short of dramatic.

Anyone else going SSD besides A7mad?

Probably not at launch. I want to wait for some feedback from others who do.

Internal hard drive limited according to this:
PlayStation 4 will not allow users to use external hard drives, according to a Q&A on the PlayStation Blog. Storage on PS4s will be limited to the next-gen machine's 500GB. Even replacing the internal hard drive limits space -- installing another 9.5mm SATA II HDD is possible, but only so long as its space exceeds 160GB.
We've contacted Sony about how this will affect the transfer of data between PlayStation 4 systems.

Why is there a limit? Kind of defeats the purpose for a lot of people.

That was worded horribly.. you are "limited to a MINIMUM".. confusing as hell.

It means PS4 requires 160GB of hard drive space is what it means.

Lack of external kind of sucks. And that "caching" news isn't really all that amazing.. caching means the files have to be re-copied every single time the cache is cleared.. which.. takes time as it's being read from the Blu-Ray.

I'm going DD only anyways so caching is sort of pointless.. hopefully the system is smart enough not to need to make double copies of data because of the caching design.. but I'm worried that 160GB is reserved..

With my 480GB SSD I plan on throwing in the PS4 that doesn't leave much room for downloaded games.

If. I do upgrade I just hope its like upgrading the launch phat ps3 hard drive all I did was swap it and the ps3 formatted we did not need to put the few on a USB like the slims.i heard Sony took out the built in flash drive inside the slims

Is there a certain limit on the capacity? 2 terabytes hardrive is the max isn't it?

so we can't go above 500gb!?

I haven't been following hard drive upgrading on ps4 too much (i did it with ps3). So has sony confirmed whether you can replace the 500 gig 5400 rpm default drive with a 7200 rpm sata 3 or with a ssd? And what is the max size limitation?
