Ones making Gears games, they're basically what Epic games used to be before 10 cent bought their stock.

The other makes the 2nd best selling video game of all time, which this time next year will be The best selling videogame of all time.

If viewed in a vacuum acquiring the two biggest new first party IPs of last generation (and in Minecrafts case, this generation as well) would be considered 'above average'.

If viewed in comparison to Nintendo and Sony...we have seen no acquisitions. We have seen no AAA studios built. Sony made a VR studio that has released no games thus far and they made Pixelopus who made a poorly reviewed twinstick shooter.

Those are 2 things that Microsoft should not be chasing. VR because its a dud and Indie games because theres 1000+ indie games releasing on Xbox every year....a vast majority are exclusive already. They shouldn't be building studios to make budget games.

It should be blockbusters or nothing.

Agree on most accounts, but many posts here reeks of bias.
MS needs more exclusives to compete with Sony and Nintendo's exclusive lineups... But do they really need to? If we are being honest the reason why they have sold less consoles are what happened with the f***up that was the announcement and release of the Xbox one, we all know why consumers went Sony then, exclusives didn't play that big a part in that. MS doing there thing now which seems to be bring consoles and Windows PCs to a common ecosystem, you can think what you want about that. They're doing right with the game pass thing imo, I feel it's good for us gamers. I do feel it's a bit strange that they haven't shown a real investment in first party games though, but still, multiplatform games are plenty. Also honestly, you could just buy a switch (which I have) or/and a PS4 (which I had) and have plenty of games to cover your gaming time for years (depending on if you have work and family).

Also, Forza, Halo and gears are top exclusives, if you don't like them and don't feel you prefer the Xbox controller and haven't got friends on Live, I do feel you shouldn't buy an Xbox console, that would be stupid.

Sony are opening a new AAA studio in San Diego to collaborate with VASG and a major Sony studio.

They don't need to match Sony and Nintendo but they do need to be better what they are now. I always say don't compare them to Sony compare them to themselves of the days of the original Xbox or early days of 360.

Its true but that is one of their problems. It is the same thing that would have been said 10 years ago. They need to expand beyond that.
 
You guys should take that discussion over to the PS4 General thread. We were talking about that there.

Look at the games released: Sea of Thieves is a shell. Gears of War is basically a carbon copy. Ryse was a massively delayed X360 Kinect game. Titanfall was a third party game and was never meant to exclusive. Forza Horizon was just the same old in a new place. Forza Motorsport is just getting worse.

If they aren't prepared to invest in new studios then nothing is really gunna change.

They actually did a better job of pumping out 1st party games with their debut console. Sure not all of those games were great. But they were there and were pretty varied. Microsoft has been going backwards ever since.

They don't need to match Sony or Nintendo. But there's no reason why they shouldn't match EA, Ubi and Activision.
 
As an Xbox owner, why do you NEED to have 1P titles? For me, I just want more and more AAA experiences. 3P games are satiating that need for now, and the One X is giving new life to old titles like Red Dead. But more experiences are better, and Xbox should be delivering more content.

What I love about Sony's 1P is that they have that Sony je ne sais quoi to them.

Well actually they are both fact. Horizon point has no argument. If you don't think Motorsport is getting worse then you are extremely ignorant.

Ori was good, but is just an Indie game.

State of Decay was last gen, is an indie game, and the the sequel is very much the same but with co-op.

Don't get wrong, Indies are fine as an addition too, but they are not a replacement for the AAA game and AAA games are what I am talking about.

Yes, they are.

Take Forza 7...Rivals mode wrecked. Added cars that have no business in the game. A terrible laggy lobby system. Online "racing" that is more akin to destruction derby, and too many people abusing some of those vehicles that don't belong. No new tracks. credit acruing hidden behind pointless loot boxes. Tried to force homologation. Destroyed the slipstreaming.

In short, it is a s***show.
 
I only play Forza 7 in career mode. I’ve enjoyed it a lot. I also skipped Forza 6, so I’m not as burned out.

If they want to grow their business and be more successful in markets that they haven't been able really crack yet than they need to do more than the same old thing, they've lost people by not offering more. Halo is on the decline, it's still a big title but it's not what it was and Gears will be following the same path, you won't bring in new fans with Forza so what's left? If they want the business to grow they don't need to just match what Sony does they need to exceed what Sony does.

Really? lolz. Everything I stated there is a fact. You might be silly enough to think that no slipstreaming is good, or destruction derby racing is good, but they aren't, obviously. There is a reason why so few people do Rivals mode. There is a reason why the community was in uproar over the no class specific hoppers.

Ignorance isn't working for you, or for T10. They continue to stagnate while the competition progresses.
 
I don't know what to say, you're wrong and prob will never admit this to your inner being. There's hope though, I've seen people do different things to get better, yoga being one but there's lots other too.
