Xbox One HDD full @ 362GB / 500GB

Xbox One has so many awesome exclusive games, people will be hard to keep them all on the HDD. DR3, Ryse, KI, F5, Peggle 2, even Powerstar Golf and Zoo Tycoon and the Kinect Sports Rival demo.

But good to know. I'll keep eyes peeled for any HDD announcements, especially if I ever go over 20 games. Makes sense IGN gives gamers a warning. Since PS4 only has a handful of PS4 exclusive games worth getting (one is called Flower, the other Resogun) PS4 gamers have nothing to worry about yet.

Too many games for X1!

We haven't even begun with all the new games. There's going to be hundreds of games out, if not more and it's going to be tricky with just the 500GB HDD. Not to mention the games out in a few years might be a lot more in terms of GB than they are now.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the 20 games was an overstatement since the big name games usually take up 40-60GB of space. Hopefully MS will come out with the update soon otherwise Xbox One owners will start complaining in the next 1/2 year about the lack of space.

I have a 1 TB SSHD in my PS4 so I'm not worried. :p

And I used to think that 8gb was HUGE on original Xbox. Dang.

It's probably a mix of full games and downloads. Peggle 2 is less than 2 gb. And I doubt Powerstar Golf is large. KI is a small download too.

Looking at this list, there aren't many that are 40gb+ anyway. Only a handful are 30gb+

Wtf is on my HDD?

That is nuts. There is no way the OS is that big, it has to be reserved space or something.

It's not necessarily some accurate number.

It appears they are just adding up what is under the uninstall option. They mention things like "not THAT many game clips."

But the thing runs Windows 8 basically, as well as the XBO game os... It reserves space for dumping ram to the hard drive, built in apps, etc.

That's a bloated OS. To think the 360 at launch had the arcade version with no hard drive lol.

These guys already broke it down and came up with 391.9....I think they did it a better way.

If this is correct then it's actually pretty close to what PS4 has reserved. Which is about 91GB with 409GB free.

This says there is 391 available to the user, plus 80 GB's that are unused reserved partitions.

Aka, nothing to see here, but MS needs to get the external drive support out ASAP.

So nothing is concrete and this is more guesses and speculation then? I see.

Either way, even if we had a full 500GB before too long that won't be enough anyway.

And I used to think that 8gb was HUGE on original Xbox. Dang.

When I want to remind myself how old I am, I just think that the 16 GB SD card I put in my phone has 250 times the capacity of the 40MB hard drive on the computer I got as a high school graduation present. And that I thought was pretty decent.

The OS probably holds a bunch of space in reserve for in game dvr and who knows what else.

I'm sure we'll see an update to the OS that actually shows us what's on the drive. External HD support will be needed sooner rather than later, otherwise we'll be forced to uninstall games all the time as we run out of space.

We also have unlimited cloud saving. All these game clips I upload to the cloud aren't stored on my X1.

Now that you mention it, thats probably why MS decided not to include the ability to manage your HDD. People would begin having massive anxiety attacks every time they downloaded a game. Its like taking a final exam with the professor standing in front of you holding a clock:

Professor: "Is he gonna make it? Hmm? tick-tock-tick-tock! Better hurry up, better hurry! Derp!"

I have no idea where that came from.... Felt good though.

What are the chances that edge magazine uses this next for the sky is falling on xb1 to grab some more clicks?

If true, that would be a very anti-consumer oriented decision that was made.

Did MS ever say why they didn't allow that option anyways?

What was the size of the last thing they tried to install? Just wondering. Because maybe they were trying to install another 40 gig disc & it was saying it was full at 362, but there might be a bit more, it just wouldn't let them install another 40 gig disc because it knew it would be over the limit?

3 GB they said.

They didnt want users to have to worry about how much HD was being used so they created it to manage space automatically. I still would like the ability to do so manually however....

Indeed. Very useful and convenient feature to have.

Lol at mandatory installs and not letting me manage my space.

This is an added feature that makes downloading games more adventurous. Seems like an upgrade to me. o_O

I wonder many games do people play at a time where they always need access to it? I'm probably an outer edge case since I only play one game at a time, finish it, then move on to the next game without going back to the last game I just finished, since I mainly play single player campaign games, so replay factor isn't huge for me. Therefore, for me, I would never need 20 games installed at once anyways as I wouldn't be going back to play most of those games I already beat again.

However, if I have the space I would just leave games installed even if I beat them already like on my comp where my steam folder is 700 gigs right now, but space isn't an issue on my comp.
