Hey all,

I was wondering how updates are coming along for the PS4. Being that I sold mine (edit: traded it in), and I've been focused on Xbox One - I haven't heard/seen anything much about PS4 updates.

My impression is that we're doing a much better job getting updates out, improving existing functionality, and adding more features - but that impression could be totally based on my lack of knowledge... so I figured I'd make a thread about it, and see what people bring to it. :)

Anyone have both consoles who can comment on the updating experiences for both? I'd be really interested/curious to hear impressions...

Thanks!

They are fixing everything they broke that worked just fine on the 360.

It's great that they are working fast though to fix everything they broke that worked great on the 360.

There's not much they needed to fix on the PS4 OS since it does what it needs to do, just stability issues. The Xbox One needed a lot more fixes to get it up to par with the basics and so far so good for rolling in the updates for the Xbox One.

Now they just need to improve on what it's offering and we're good.

Why did you sell your ps4?
No games?
I have both they are both great consoles

Actually, I tried to sell it - but no one would bite - so I ended up trading it in at a Gamestop... and now I have ungodly amounts of credit there.

As for why, after Killzone, there was nothing interesting to play on it... and even Killzone wasn't great. I had way more fun with cross platform and Xbox One exclusives. The system and its accessories felt cheap to me (in terms of industrial construction - especially compared to X1), and I didn't have the patience to sit on a $400 investment for months on end for there to be something quality to play on it.

So they're not really rolling out updates for PS4?

They are. 1.62 just came out today.
The PS4 updates so far are still very disappointing. All they are are just "stability patches." It's been uneventful. I don't see a reason at all for comparing updates when no new features have yet to come of them. And it's just plain weird to compare updates of all things.

fair enough,Killzone was a huge let down for me.The updates for the console seem to be improve since launch. But there missing the one killer feature for me that xbox had since to launch dlna support. Dead rising and ryse are easily my fav launch games! I'm still trying to get some time in for titanfall. Been working late hours lately.Whats your gamertag?

PS4 still HDMI color space issues and no dolby digital plus unless you change the sound settings.
Xbox One has the same sound issues and the party chat sux.

Agreed. I'd like to see some more improvements instead of stability patches.

While Microsoft has been great with the updates most of it is giving back stuff that should have been there from day one. I still can't fathom how in the hell they didn't have a battery indicator.

Yea I guess Xbox can have a win on this one since the updates were to put in things that should have been there at launch. Congrats!

I really wanted to play more of Dead Rising, but I could tell it would be a big time-suck for me if I let myself get into it... and I was already into AC4 (which took something like 60 hours of my time) - and that's a lot for me... I usually can't invest that much into a game, unless it's spread out over time... but yeah, totally loved Ryse. Best looking current gen game for sure.

As for gamertag, I don't give out my gamertag to online folk... I like having some anonymity, and giving away my gamertag would be giving away too much. One guy on these forums wanted to draw attention to me, and get me fired... so I gotta' be careful... I like my job too much... but I also like coming here and talking shop with folks. Most seem to be pretty decent, but you get a few who are just jerks... most of which I can ignore, but not if they're a mod... ;-)

I just wish Sony would put in an update that lets me turn off the console by pushing the button. You know, like every other console on Earth either besides their own?

What button, the one on the controller or on the console?

I'm just being tongue-in-cheek'ish. But yeah on the console.

Like if someone turns the system off using the console button, I always get that annoying message about the system not being turned off properly. It's very PC like.

Really? I never get that. I just press it until I hear 2 beeps and it turns off automatically.

So it's just user error on my part.

Have you ever had issues with the eject button? Sometimes I have to go into the options of a game and eject the game that was since the eject button on the system isn't responding.

Can I ask a genuine question. What exactly is your job? Care to give a little details? If its ok

For instance, I am a senior developer in a major automotive supplier, sometimes football & movie critics, & recently, part time game developer. :)

Yes, once when I turned it on and it wouldn't eject a game through both physical or software means. I had to restart the console, then it would work.
