Xbox One X

Ryse looks nice although they go VERY heavy on the depth of field during combat don't they? it's also 900p while God of War is 1080p and has a lot more particles and things like that going on as well as just being better looking all around. No games make Ryse look bad but as a whole package it's not God of War.

If Ryse is ever on sale on the Xbox store for around $10 I would consider picking it up just to see how it looks all the way through, as it stands now you have to buy it in a $30 bundle and I'm not spending $30 on it.
That's the PC version in that video so its above 900p and not a equal comparison yet GOW still wins.

I do want them to enhance the X version and revisit the franchise with a sequel but this time make it actually play as good as it looks.

Quick question for those of you that use the One X as a 4K Blu ray player, is your disc drive really noisy when watching a movie? I started using it instead of my dedicated 4K player because my TV only has two inputs that do 4K and HDR and damn the drive is loud, I can hear it spinning the entire time even with the volume on my sound bar at a fairly high level.

Looking around online it seems to be a fairly common complaint, anyone else here notice it? I was going to just plug my dedicated player into the One X input but that's only an HDMI 1.4 and I've read that wouldn't be a good fit for connecting a dedicated 4K blu ray player, anyone here know if that'd be a good option?
I had freezes and all kind of mess with it.
To top it off I was wondering why 4K movies seems off in PQ so I took another player I boxed away (ASSUMING X's player would be good enough) and after testing both.... the X is much worse than the standalone.

Is using the HDMI input on the One X as a passthrough for a dedicated 4K player viable? You can do 4K and HDR at 24fps through HDMI 1.4 right? isn't that all movies are at this point anyway is 24fps? You know more about this stuff than I do :)

Edit: Just read that HDMI 1.4 can only do 8-bit color so there goes that option :(

I’m sorry but Ryse in that video looked better in almost every way. Granted it’s the PC version but to me personally Ryse looks graphically superior.

The 4K Blu-ray player on my X1X is whisper quiet and it looks amazing on my new Sony TV. We have a stand alone player in our bedroom and the picture quality is pretty much identical.

I personally want another Fable and don’t understand the direction MS went with this franchise.

It is the only thing MS has right now that could be a “God of War” type franchise......if that’s even possible at this point.

I'm with you on that. I don't get why they went the " Evolve" route with Fable but hopefully MS is seeing the success the other console makers are having with their single player games and go back to making a single player Fable game.

I wouldn't lose hope yet because I still think Fable is a marquee Xbox IP.

It's kind of funny how much s*** Ryse got for it's combat considering it was pretty much exactly the same as the Arkham/Shadow of Mordor games, and was lambasted for QTEs even though it has essentially the same finisher QTE set-up as the new God of War (Not a peep in that regard).

Graphics still hold up well and considering it was a rush job launch title, it's kind of wild in that regard. If it had HDR and 4k, it would stand toe to toe with some of these later gen games.

Someone mentioned DoF during combat; it has really high quality motion blur, as good as the stuff Unreal Engine is just now adding 5 years later.

It's because MS didn't do the smart thing that Sony did and use shapes for their button names. #sarcasmfont

GoW combat system is so much deeper than Ryse though. If they ever do a sequel all I would change gameplay wise was a deeper combat system. The QTEs were fine imo.

That's what I said before, people are just HATE because its the new fad on MS and Ryse paid the price for it.

Everything in the background is blurred so the characters involved are the only clear thing, I thought motion blur just blurred everything that moved so it gave it a more filmic look and hid animation blending etc.

Hint...

NPD doesn't have the Recore sales....

Hint 2.....

Phil Spencer does...right @philspencer?
Fact , Recore is not in the top 10 for the month.
That should be simple enough for even you to understand sales.

Yeah. Fable was a massive waste of an IP that really could have cemented itself as a new series.

followup games are greenlit on how they sell on release, not on how they are selling for cheap 12 months later. i'd like to think even YOU aren't stupid enough to understand that. but perhaps i'm wrong on that count.

wake up and smell the roses, Recore just did not cut it and MS don't usually fund games that fail to make sales expectations

I wish I could smell the roses. But since we don't have access to Recore worldwide sales, I will stick with smelling dandelions for now.

Recore #2 is coming. You're making a mistake, bruh. I'll be the first to post your response when its announced.

That cancelled Fable game looked like it was coming along pretty well and the team working on it really seemed enthusiastic about the product. I was surprised it got canned at that stage.

yeah because I was playing it and love how that game was going to be put together

The background blurring is Depth of Field. Motion blur is simulating the way your brain can't fully resolve fast moving objects (as well as persistent motion). Different things for sure. God of War does both much the same way Ryse does. I'm a fan, personally, but I know some people don't like it.

It just wasn't Fable IMO, it was a fantasy MP game using the fable name and I think that put a lot of people off.

I agree. But it was basically done.

Wasn't it supposed to be a free to play game that ended up costing far more to make than they thought? I forget but I think that's one of the lines that was floated out there.
