Who’s this guy? Everytime I see those X’s I assume it’s Mister X’s alt account. Still waiting for the OG Xbox One’s hidden GPU.

I think Booty takes his acquisition Guy with him wherever he goes. Like a lady with her purse. Never know when he’s going to see something he just has to have.

Yep! Though I'm hoping they arent thinking of an acquisition of Capcom Vancouver. Dead Rising could use a hiatus. A long one...

Right there with ya m8. But if they were to be bought I doubt they’d get the license/IP with said purchase. But what if they’d make some variant to or along side undeadlabs on state of decay?

Some rumors now floating about Turtle Rock. Not as strong as the Obsidian rumors.

After seeing how well Warhammer was received on Game Pass, I think a studio like Turtle Rock has a chance to do well there. They are a talented studio.

I'm kind of surprised they didn't get shut down after Evolve.

They also made Left for Dead. Evolve was a well made game with a terrible monitization model due to 2K. That’s the primary reason it failed. This would be a good relationship IMO. Warhammer was a poor man’s Left for Dead and was well received on Game Pass.

In an interview, Turtle Rock talked about a pitch their studio was excited about that never was greenlit. Evolve was what 2K wanted to make. I’m consistently curious what types of games these talented AA studios could make with creative freedom and knowing an instant install base will be there due to Game Pass.

As much as I’m happy for Microsoft’s attempts to grab single player studios, the potential for multiplayer (and specifically co-op) games in Game Pass is something that also needs to keep being explored.

If Microsoft purchases Obsidian and Turtle Rock, what’s everyone’s thoughts of them as a publisher? Do they have enough talent to drive Game Pass subscriptions to the 40 mil plus mark in the next 5 years (assuming its on everything outside of PlayStation by then)? Or do they need a lot more to approach that Netflix of gaming respect?

They may need more, some to take risk and others to keep the status quo...which could allow devs to freely move amongst themselves to keep things fresh, well in an ideal world/environment

They definitely need more than Obsidian and Turtle Rock added to achieve that.

I believe the reason Microsoft is suddenly so super aggressive is because they feel they need to hit critical mass in terms of mindshare as the “Netflix of gaming” before 5G hits critical mass. Whoever has a major mindshare lead at that moment in time should cash in nicely.

5G critical mass is scheduled to hit in about 5 years. Basically one console generation. I agree that Microsoft doesn’t have enough for that yet. They have enough to end the 1st party memes and present a strong value next gen but not enough to drive that kind of marketshare.

Nadella warned investors that Microsoft may be adding a major expense to their balance sheet soon. No telling whether it’s gaming related or not. Looking at the landscape, their goals and the fact that investors are expecting a major purchase that will make waves to their short term bottom line, time to up the speculation I think.

I’m predicting either the purchase of Discord, a more significant wave of developers or a major publisher. Something big is coming.

No insider info. Just speculation. Let’s see how this one goes.

I’d probably pick Ryse as well. But that setting has been done multiple times since Ryse came out.
Maybe another historical/fantasy setting?

Pretty random choice of games. I don't know that I would greenlight any of those if I was him.
