Xbox Rumors and Speculation

Streaming reference...?

S GPU? Does this mean the possibility of Xbox games being played locally on the next iPad? That would be pretty bad ass and give me a reason to purchase an iPad for the first time since gen 1. 720P will be just fine on an iPad screen.

My Switch is fine but an iPad that plays Xbox games is better on the go.

I’m putting money on Microsoft acquiring at least 1 more studio before E3 2019, possibly 2.

They are bulking up for gamepass.

I hope they get these smaller devs and bolsters their teams:

  • Mistwalker
  • Ghost Story Games
  • Moon Studios
And I still want them to get Remedy or SEGA.

One of the latter would be a nice surprise on stage at E3.

There's some kind of announcement coming up later today by a reliable insider. Doesn't sound like its a game. According g to other sources its, "a little bigger than that."

I don't get why people want them to get someone like Sega. They have a bunch of studios that have limited value to Microsoft and it doesn't seem like a great thing for the industry unless Microsoft is going to keep some games multiplatform. Better that they keep to their strategy of getting solid studios that they can build up. They don't need "megatons".

It's because SEGA can deliver the Japanese games on the platform without us having to wait years as Japanese developers twiddle their thumbs before jumping in and deliver random occasional Xbox ports.

That is the biggest reason why it doesn't make sense. Those games wouldn't be successful without also releasing them on PS too.

What if getting SEGA wouldn't have to mean not releasing on Sony's platforms. Minecraft seems fine the way it is being handled. Minceraft is Microsoft owned now yet not Microsoft-exclusive.

That is why I mentioned before about keeping games mulitplatform but that doesn't really fit in with the other studios they purchased. They are getting studios to make exclusives so they aren't going to buy Sega so 10 people on Xbox can buy Yakuza.

Xbox has always lacked a steady stream of wellknown Japanese games in their portfolio. Buying SEGA would be a way to solve this. Is SEGA the same as these small AA's being bought? Of course not. Is there value in getting them? Yes. Hell yes. I think we'll see a Japanese get eventually if they're serious about their portfolio.

Japan will never get interested in Xbox and the traditional console market is shrinking so there is less reason for them to try and change that.

Wait, I thought they already bought moon studios?

Pardon the Google translation:

Xbox Opens A Team In Asia To Bring Japanese Games And Gain Presence

Ink rivers have rained with respect to the abandonment of Microsoft in Japanese territory. Japan and Asia in general have been markets that have resisted Microsoft and perhaps part of the blame the Americans have not managed to manage the idiosyncrasies of these territories. What is clear is that this Achilles heel of the company, translates into a growing market that added, can surpass the American market as a whole without much trouble, leaving behind China and Korea could be a headache in the future .

The fact is that both Sony and Microsoft have tried to enter the Asian market, without excessive success. Now that the doors of a new jump are just around the corner, there are not a few companies that want to enter here. The team of Phil Spencer has complicated in Japan, despite their efforts, is still a machine that is not well seen in this territory. But all this could change or at least, the Redmond have plans to do so and this is precisely what we tell you today exclusively. Xbox launches to capture Japan

The Microsoft Global Gaming Partnership & Development or GGPD is a division dependent on the branch of Xbox that seeks precisely strategic alliances. Thanks to a recent job offer we have learned that Microsoft is organizing a small team of people designed to win these territories, or at least increase their presence there that is still anecdotal. There are several points that indicate the importance of this position and the strategy to be followed, including:
  • The place of residence is not fixed, it requires Tokyo, South Korea or Shanghai. Also Redmond.
  • The purpose of this regional team should be to close agreements with potential partners.
  • The candidate will be the representative of Xbox in the territory.
  • You should deal with studios and developers to detect opportunities.
  • He will be in charge of several people.

For the description of this offer, the GGPD team destined for Asia, should start as soon as possible and streamline the processes, so it follows that Microsoft is in a hurry to advance work there. At present it is Cris Charla or Phil Spencer who has to close deals there, now there will be a team and a more dedicated figure.

It would be suicidal to not release Minecraft on non MS platforms.
That's why MC is multiplat.

I know. I simply meant to use it as an example for a way to handle SEGA as well.

it's good to see the Xbox is assembling a team to focus on increasing their presence in Asia. I know people think it's a lost cause, but we might get some cool games out of this.

Sega games are kinda niche these days so MS could buy them and make the games exclusive.
