Mine is a surprising one, The Witcher 3.

Was going through my gaming library recently and saw that game, then I remembered that I preordered it digitally and though I have played about 10-20 hours it was a game that never really clicked with me.

I found several side quests and characters boring, hated having to repair my armor, and it had some of the goofiest outfits and clothing options. The starting outfit was easily 10x better than anything else I came across.

Add to that I’ve put a lot of time into the recent AC games that are heavily influenced by The Witcher but have much smoother gameplay, and I don’t think I’ll ever go back. But it’s digital, so we are stuck together lol!

Do consoles count? If so, without a doubt it's the Xbox One.

Games? Way too many to name over the years. Ones from this gen are:

- Killzone: Shadow Fall
- Dirt 4
- Forza Horizon 4 (much of the game doesn't come on the disc and I couldn't download it)
- NFS: Rivals
- Thi4f

Don’t buy to many at full price so I’m usually 100% on those. My biggest regret this gen so far is easily Final Fantasy. Got it for like 15 but absolutely hated it. Could even finish the intro area.

Divinity Original Sin 2. The game is a too difficult for me to have fun (feels like work) . Also a bit slow & chorey. If you swap a side character, you need to go where you find them the first time to rehired them again,

I'm surprised at some of you guys choices. None of those would have made my top 5 of bad full price purchases.

My worst full price purchase in this gen is Extinction. The game is TREMENDOUSLY bad. And certain outlets hyped it to the moon and back before its release. Bought it digitally too, so no returning this stinker.

Last gen my worst full price purchase was a toss up between Enchanted Arms and Samurai Showdown Sen. Both are all time crap games that somehow appealed to me enough to buy Day one.

Fallout 4 by a mile.
I was thinking this, but I also put like 60+ hours into it before I gave up on it. Can't really say I didn't get some time out of it, so I wouldn't say it was a bad purchase.

Can only really go with recency bias, as I don't remember the 100's of games I"ve bought, so I'll go with Far Cry 5. Really liked it, but once I put it down the first time I never picked it back up. Could have waited and got it for way cheap later on.

No offense, but I'm just going to pretend I never saw this post. :meh:

No Man's Sky. However, I was in the thick of it and could relate, so there's that.

Runner up is Sea of Thieves. I liked the concept and had a few good moments with some other players, but it only lasted a week or so for me.

Destiny 1 and 2 are distant 3rd and 4th. However, I really enjoyed what I played and the company I played with. The first Raid is a moment I won't forget. There's something there, but again, I quickly fell off. Destiny 2 way quicker.

Fatal fury on Sega Megadrive, had been playing street fighter 2 on SNES at a friend's house and thought FF would be comparable. Put in the cart, chose Terry and started first fight... remember holding back my tears, barely. I prob was about 10 years old at the time.

Also, you guys are either very young, bought extremely few games or have strange af taste.

Yep. That’s us alright, a big bunch of kids living in moms basement, and barely buy anything but Call of Duty.

Terminator 2 for the megadrive.

Super Mario sunshine on GameCube

Sonic 2006 Xbox 360

I don't remember too many bad ones from decades ago. Hence I'd say something far more recent.

Fallout 4, which continually confounds me. By all accounts I should love the game. The wildly varied nature of its combat (in that one has very many options to use on a single enemy), the world, and its setting should mean I would have played for years same as new vegas, which is a much smaller game.

Yet it never holds me for very long. Maybe I'll start new one of these days. I know it's not terrible, but I paid too much for a game I barely play.

I could list nearly 100 games going back to the Atari 2600, but I stuck to recent games that I wasted money on.

Most recently State of Decay 2. Its ok but I just can't handle how dark it is at night.

I'll raise you 1 and say the One X. I don't know, i love that the console is powerful but $499 mid gen? Not sure it was really worth it considering the lack of exclusives. If Crackdown 3 had come out at launch of the X with the full scale destruction that was promised then maybe it would have been worth it. As it stands, i've played only a handful of games on my One X and i still use my PS4 Pro more for multiplats.. Ya, it was a waste.

Here is what I’m talking about.

THIS is a bad purchase.

Mine is MUSCLE for the NES. That sh*t was still $60 back in the day. That was like 3 months of chores.

I know I've bought some really bad ones in 25+ years of buying my own games but ive forgotten them all.
The one game that stands out as just a massive disappointment for me personally thougj in recent years though is Final Fantasy 15.

Confused..your reasoning for it being a bad purchase is no exclusives? Something MS went to great lengths to tell people would never happen...or do you just mean Xbox exclusives in general? An issue MS had for a decade before X1X launched.

Also, battletoads on nes was a pretty bad experience. Haven't played it in a while but remember punching my sofa as a kid trying to get through the first level. Prob played about 2h total time. RE7 was the latest first person game to give me severe motion sickness (played until you meet your gf than had to lay down for an hour), not sure why I don't learn to be more cautious when buying these games.
