PlayStation 4 discussion v2.0

PS4 needs to give us an update that lets us upload 500KB pics to Skydrive.

And iTunes is an Apple product on Windows, and Skydrive and Skype are Microsoft products on Mac. I don't see your point.
Really? Consoles are not like PC's, you don't see this kind of interplay between competing platform holders products and services.

I was just about to post this.

Also, not sure if you already pulled the trigger, but Amazon's sale also extends to the digital code:

I forgot they did that. Pretty cool.
I pulled the trigger before you posted :( Thanks though. I will do that next time.

There's a Sony Pictures app for Xbox 360. Skype is available for PSP and Vita. Why is that?
Well for one, they are not services that the respective companies hold interest in. Microsofts cloud services in any fashion will never come to the PS4, especially after all the stink they made about it being their advantage. Besides, though probably very few know it, Sony already has a Cloud media service.

Skype hold's no interest to Microsoft? Why is that?

No interest to Sony. Microsoft wants Skype on as many devices as possible, Sony allows it on their devices because they don't have a VOIP service. Skype is differnt anyway, it may be MS owned now, but they have mostly just let it be its own thing.

So how is Skype different from Skydrive? It sounds like you are just finding any excuse you can for why a bunch of Microsoft's services are all over everyone else's devices or refuse to even properly explain Skydrive is any different. Regardless, this is just your own speculation/draw-out guessing that just fits what you think on the subject. Realistically, Skydrive uploading for pics is not outside of reason. But if Sony has there own service, that would be just as good for me as long as it is easy to access via PC.

Skydrive will never happen on PS4. With all the moves into their own cloud services (games, TV, movies, music) I don't see a world where they capitulate to MS and use their cloud for pic/vid storage (not to mention, like I already said they have a service for that). Just doesn't make any sense.

That's your opinion. But Microsoft had cloud services long before Xbox One, and all that was really touted at the Xbox One debut was "cloud-processing for graphics and AI" and "cloud-matchmaking," not much at all on Microsoft's online storage service. But I don't care to argue. Agree to disagree.

Ok, after a little more time with the PS4:

Pros:

1. Black Light Retribution Beta: SWEET ASS GAME
2. Warframe: Pretty cool game, need more time with it
3. DC Online: I haven't had a chance to play other than make a character and fly around a room and killed 2 enemies.
4. Playstation App is better than the online web access on a desktop computer. I can actually add friends. Nice. Second screen I haven't tried yet though. Using my iPhone 5S.
5. Played some KZ4 online and got my ASS kicked, but I liked it. It felt good.....ahh....ooh...yum.
6. Like the PS3, it has a battery level notification on the screen. X1 needs that.

Cons:
1. Fan cranked up on the PS4 when playing campaign in KZ4. That was pretty lame. X1 never makes a single noise.
2. Battery life of the DS4 is ass. I already had to charge it since I charged it fully when I bought it on Sunday.

That is all for today. Loving my PS4!

Glad to hear you're enjoying it. I agree, battery life is junk. It must be like 8 hours. Definitely less than the DS3. It lasts a bit on one bar, but I get anxious when it is that low. I have two controllers so I just rotate them out, but still, perhaps the light, speaker, and touchpad is too much.

I saw you playing KZ. Next time I see you online we should play a few rounds.

I will hopefully be playing today/tonight (after 330pm CDT) and then Sunday afternoon a bit before the Super Bowl.

If one could disable the lightbar and speaker, that might help. Maybe in a firmware update. As for the touchpad, seems I need that for the OWL, so it wouldn't be good to disable that.

Cool. I'll be sure to log-in.

I was just thinking in general, not KZ related. I'm not sure if the touchpad is always "on" regardless if the game uses it or not.

The LED's use very little power, the speaker and Touch pad a bit more (dependent on use of course), but that is really not the main reason the battery life is less on the DS4 compared to the DS3. The DS3 has a 1800maH battery and the DS4 has a 1000maH battery. On a plus side, I hear you can fit the DS3 batteries in the DS4 without any modding and increase your life about 6 hours.

Sony is on fire. I think its still a long way to XBOX LIVE numbers, but they seems to do no wrong recently.

PS Plus Subscriptions Triple Following PS4 Launch
http://uk.ign.com/articles/2014/01/31/ps-plus-subscriptions-triple-following-ps4-launch

The launch of the PS4 caused the number of PlayStation Plus subscriptions to triple, Sony has announced.

The news came courtesy of Sony UK boss Fergal Gara, who made the revelation at thePS Vita Slim event IGN attended yesterday.

While Gara highlighted that needing PS Plus in order to play PS4 games online undoubtedly played a part in the spike, he also expressed his confidence that the value offered by the service was a driving force behind the increased uptake.

Elsewhere in the briefing, Gara revealed that there is now 1.5 PS4 consoles in the UK for every Xbox One.

We'll have a full interview with Gara up on IGN soon. In the meantime, check out what PS Plus subscribers in Europe and North America will be getting in February.

I got PS+ for the free games, I haven't even played online in ages.
