My first play through of DS2 I got the Heide Knight Sword, and used it all the way up till the final boss. Its an absolutely fantastic sword from early on till the end of the game, and I really like the quick one two strike of the fierce attack on it. Beefed up with Int and a dash of strength and dex, its a great sword that is versatile, and not overtaxing on endurance.

i am excited about using this tonight. i didn't know it was such a good sword. i am going to get that key to unlock the mansion and get the soul vessel. I need to reallocate desperately. I made a couple of bonehead decisions. I will probably have my Faith near 40 so hopefully that will make the sword pack a punch. does it have good range? i have just been using the regular mace, which is powerful, but slow and no range.

I felt too bad to kill him. He wasn't hostile to me and seemed pretty beat up - my goal is to avoid murdering anyone who doesn't attack me first. Maybe on my next playthrough I'll min-max and try to collect everything.

Well normally try avoid that me too. I remember another one of these knights there the phantoms I had summoned took care of him.

Very quick attack on Heide Knight Sword , for close combat it is one of the best weapons I have tried sow far, with a bit above 20 Endurance I can get in 2-3 hits on enemies that have weak armor before they are able to attack.

is this the sword you get from the big white knight leaning against the tree in the Fallen Giant area? I didn't know that scaled with faith, I might need to try that, my faith is at 33 right now. I am getting sick of this mace honestly.

Just your mother Razor! :)

Ha. Man I might just go get DS2 now.

Ok so, I just accidentally walked up next to the blacksmith in Majula with the Moon Butterfly armor suit on, and I forgot that it poisons anything near it. Naturally it caused him to aggro, and he proceeded to chase me around majula with his big ass club lol. I had to kill him because he just kept coming after me, and considering im near the end of the game with this character, id rather not pay 132,000 souls for forgiveness.

Just a heads up to anyone wearing that armor. Dont accidentally wear it around NPC's lol.

I think I'll be playing this game offline for the remainder of the time I play it.

Getting sick and fvcking tired of the forced PvP. If I want to PvP let me "flag" for it, otherwise leave me the hell alone. I play with 20% less health so I won't get invaded but still I have to PvP.

Why? Because I went to the grave of saints and as soon as I enter the area the screen goes to black and it says "you have invaded so and so's world". fine, let me find him so he can kill me and get it over with.

I walk like 10 yards from that spot and this asshat is sitting around a corner with a weapon he can repeatedly hit me with until I die and the whole time I'm stunlocked, can't even raise my shield, let alone cast a spell.

Sure, I wasn't going to fight anyway, but this kind of situation (where I have no chance at all to fight back, let alone win) is why I don't pvp in this game.

PvP invasions aren't a problem at all for me. In 150 hours, think I've been invaded once outside of PvP areas.

Old Iron king was very easy compared to the other bosses.
Black Gulch seems to be only place left where I now can go, except Belfry Luna (I think I will save that one for later on as full of grey phantoms invading).

Nice to be helping people in Iron Keep, gets much souls and did at least 3 times manage to regain my humanity (after defeating the area boss).

Made a new character and going for a quality build. Loving the Bastard sword! 1-2 shotting most enemies. Made it to the castle with my dark elf dual scimitar build. One problem I am noticing is that dex weapons seem to be underpowered compared to str. and quality weapons this time.

There are some nice vistas that pop up from time to time:

Is the Belfry Luna section mandatory? Because I almost threw my freaking laptop out of the window last night. I am invaded constantly on the way to the boss fight....constantly....2 vs 1. I even joined their freaking covenant because I thought they would leave me alone. I mean, damn, the forest hunters left you alone once you joined the covenant in Dark Souls 1. Not these pricks. I hate being forced into PvP. The boss fight is already going to be a hefty challenge, I don't need this s*** on the way to that challenge

It is not mandatory. Also, could try burning an effigy at the bonfire and see if that removes the human invasion for an hour or so. I am not sure it if would or not.

So many of the enemies are weak to strike (armored enemies heavy game) i think that is partly why strength builds have it easier than dex builds. With a quality build you should be ok as you can use most weapons. If you do not have have strike weapons, try a thrust weapon versus armored enemies over slash. I am currently on a dex build character run and more and more i am using thrust over slash because of that. Just remember to use the Leo Ring if you do go thrust.

You could also unplug the ethernet cable while you work though Belfry Luna - that will certainly cut down on the number of invaders you face.

Just go offline for that section. And no, joining that covenant does not stop you getting invaded. it pulls you in as an invader instead. For every person you kill as an invader, you get a tiranite shard.

Its weird, but I just finished the game with my Cleric (great build), and im watching the end credits and just now really paying attention to the music at the end. Its a really beautiful and creepy end theme. I want to look up the soundtrack. Music is used so sparsely in this game that you don't pay close attention to it, but now that im focused on this end theme, I want to actually listen to all of it.

I was thinking of using a Cleric next. How did you build him stats wise? What weapons/spells/armor would you recommend?

VGR 20
END 20
VIT 20
ATN 17
STR 40
DEX20
ADP 4
INT 5
FTH 50

That puts him at SL 142. I got sick of using the Heide Knight Sword on every build, so given that INT also boosts fire damage, I used the Fire Longsword you get early on in that tunnel in TFOFG. I used that the majority of the game, but I just got Benharts Moonlight Greatsword so ive started using that. The mace they give you at the start is really good though, but you'll have to get strength up a bit to use it. The Cleric is a good character in terms of balance. He can use the better attack miracles like Lightning Spear, and Emit Force, but also get right into the thick of it with melee weapons. Just make sure you upgrade weapons that scale properly to faith. Overall, this guy was more OP than my Warrior, but not as OP as my Sorcerer, who I poured equal amounts of FTH and INT into so I could be more versatile with spells. There's very little in this game that stands up against any version of Lightning Spear with a good amount of faith. It especially becomes ridiculous when you find more of the spells to carry. Im running with 22 Lightning Spears, and 16 Great Lightning Spears, as well as The Sun Spear, which I cant use yet because my Faith has to be at 52.

Oh, and Clerics are also great for Pyromancy, so you can go Lightning, Fire, or a mix of both. I may actually respec him. I probably don't need that much DEX on him, but I wanted the option of using a few weapons that required higher DEX early, and I got my ATN up that high just so I could hold at least 4 spells.

If I can lock on to someone, they're dead. With the Heide Knight, he was my first victim who didn't attack first. And he appeared again two more times throughout the game. So he MUST have liked me murdering him.

I did a soul vessel and reconfigured my cleric. I have 50 faith now but I am still just using the regular lightning spears. Where can i buy the Great Lightning Spears? Also where can I buy more regular lightning spears so I can have 22 to use at any time?

Also, I unpetrified the chick that talks about pyromancy, but she doesn't sell a pyro glove...where do i get that??

The first set of LS is bought from Lycia, the second is found in Earthen Peak in a chest that's found under a low overhang. You have to fall from a ledge thats a bit tricky for me to give you the location of, so maybe look that up on youtube. Its in the same central room with all the gears that branch out to the other smaller corridors.

Great Lightning Spear is found by obtaining the Forgotten Key from Black Gulch, and having Laddersmith Gilligan build you the most expensive ladder down the well in Majula. This will give you access to a door in the side of the well with three chests in it, one of them contains the Great Lightning Spear. A second Great Lightning Spear can be bought from Straid after you've unpetrified him in Last Bastille, but he wont sell it until fairly late in the game. Sun Spear can be obtained by offering 30 Sunlight medals to the Heirs of the Sun covenenant in Harvest Valley. You need 52 Faith to use it.

The Pyromancy flame can be found after beating Flexile Sentry in No Mans Wharf, in a chest in the same room with the contraption that takes you to Last Bastille the back way. The Dark Pyromancy Flame (much better than the standard) can be found in The Gutter, in a breakable pot. Again, id look this up because the location can be tricky to explain.

So I went down to Grave of saints to get that token of Mite( or what ever). I needed it for Tichy Gren up in Undead Purgatory. Gotta say man, that Firestorm pyro spell is dope. I almost killed 3 Gargoyles just uses that a couple times. Love it, really really love it. Now I want the more powerful variants :D

Oh, and for all you prospective and current Clerics, make getting The Dragon Chime a priority. Its the best Chime in the game. You have to join the Dark Coveneant and beat the Dark Lurker (optional boss), but once you get this thing and upgrade it to the max (save all you twinkling titanite), you'll see just how worth it, it is.

I cant get enough of this game. Its almost ridiculous. Its hard to want to play anything else.

Does Godsmack drop by anymore?

thanks mome for your tips....dunno how i missed the pyro flame in the Wharf. i will go back and get it. Intelligence still does nothing for pyromancy...right? it made no difference in DS1
