Reactions: DLC
AHHH, somebody stop me from creating new characters on this game lol. I always wanted to go Depraved. It just seemed kind of cool to start at SL1 and have all starting stats at 6. You can go in any direction you choose. Not to mention I decided to join the Company of Champions to make it more challenging from the get go.

Does Godsmack drop by anymore?

thanks mome for your tips....dunno how i missed the pyro flame in the Wharf. i will go back and get it. Intelligence still does nothing for pyromancy...right? it made no difference in DS1

INT and FTH increase fire damage in DS2, hence the improvement in pyro abilities, and fire infused weapons when increasing either stat. There is a balance to this though. You will see faster diminishing returns on fire damage if you keep pouring souls into both FTH and INT, whereas you will keep seeing a steady increase to magic and miracles.

Damn...I didn't know this. I figured Pyro power was fire seeds only . Looks like a little Soul Grinding might be in order.

I did a soul vessel and reconfigured my cleric. I have 50 faith now but I am still just using the regular lightning spears. Where can i buy the Great Lightning Spears? Also where can I buy more regular lightning spears so I can have 22 to use at any time?

Also, I unpetrified the chick that talks about pyromancy, but she doesn't sell a pyro glove...where do i get that??

Increasing attenuation not only gives you more spell slots but it also increases cast speed and number of uses.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. When I hit a wall (where the difficulty outweighs my desire to progress) I roll a new toon. ATM I have a level 50-something warrior, level 30-something bandit and level 80-something Sorcerer. My next toon is going to be a cleric. I found an amazing guide for the class that talks about stats, gear and spells. It all sounds very interesting so I wanna try it out.

So, I realized I had a branch of yore. I went back to Lost Bastille and freed Straid of Olaphis, and traded for some boss weapons. I got Toxic mist ( pyro spell) with the Rat Vanguard souls. I got the Bone Scyth with the Covetous demon soul. I also got My Arced sword-Flexile sentry souls, and Dragonrider Great Shield with the Dragonrider soul :D The Pic below is the Dragonrider Shield with Arced sword:D

How heavy are you?!

I'm having a blast helping people beat the s*** out of the smelter demon. Because it's a great boss to farm. And f*** that guy.

Normally it would pain me to link to ign, as thats just giving them traffic, but someone on another board I go to had this link up, and it pertains to the lore of DS2. Its an interesting read. Ive been able to put a lot of this stuff together on my own, but there are some easter eggs brought up here that I never noticed in the game. DS2 really does have an interesting, creepy, and mysterious story when all its threads are woven together.

(SPOILER WARNING).

Yo gone done hurt my feelings :(

Seriously though, with that shield, armour, and sword I was like 115% of my weight capacity :surprise:

Do you even roll, bruh?!

I didn't even know you could get up that high. I always keep it below 70% to have decent rolling distance.

Not really. I have found in this game that rolling isn't as effective for me as it was in DS1. I have found that basic circling works great, couple that with a great shield and rolling is rather pointless, IMO. If I go dual wielding, then rolling is much much more important.

i was going to grind some souls in co-op last night but i kept getting Dark Souls servers offline on the PC version. I have got to increase my VGR and END, I am having too many survival issues. I concentrated so much on trying to build up my damage. Hey I am real good a Dark Souls 1, I shouldn't have issues surviving in DS2....right....wrong. My VGR is still at 12 and END is at 12 I think. i am having trouble :) My Faith is at 50! However, it make little difference if you are getting one shotted by bosses

Hmm, might try that. I just get spidey senses whenever I see attacks coming and if I don't dodge I feel like I'm going to die, lol.

I am with you there. Every time I go up against a boss and it swings/ or what ever, I'm thinking ' please be blockable, please please please be blockable'

I noticed here that everything that wields a sword here can be dodged by rolling forward.

I have zero problem dodging in this game. I use rolling more than my shield. When I was fighting that Scorpion boss, she only landed a magic hit on me once.

Weird today have much trouble with connecting online, and when do I often gets disconnected after some time, but all seems fine with steam and network is all working here.

i play on Steam too. I couldn't connect to the Dark Souls 2 server any last night. I have not tried today.

70%? Jinkies, I rarely go over 35% if I can help it.

That and high adapt make it so I'm rarely hit if I dodge in the right direction and in time.

Could this be due to the fact that you lost 20(binding)-50% of your health pool when fully hollowed? I never played DaSo 1 because it kinda sucked on PC without modding it and when it was relevant they had GFWL mucking it all up but it's my understanding you didn't lose HP like that when hollowed.

i have noticed that dodging does not work as well in this game.

adding to what D-V and Histone said, I've noticed that there are many bosses and trash mobs that track you as they attack. So if they are at the top of their swing and you roll, they'll track you through it and hit you. Some attacks need to be dodged with almost the same timing as parrying needs to be done.

Yes and No.

Like others said, you would need to pump soul levels into ADP to help with Agility, which helps with rolling. I have read ATT also adds to agility but just not as quickly.

Much of whether someone should add points into ADP is dependent on your build and skill level. If you are mainly a shield block and sword guy then its not that important. If you are a roll heavy player then of course it matters more. Around 20-25 ADP i tend to find is a good first breakdown to try. Also, equipment weight factors into roll distance. If you get to 20 ADP and keep your equipment weight under 50% you should notice its a little easier to roll thru swings than before. 38 ADP is about the cap for agility gain.

ADP is the rating with the most debate going on of any rating. Many feel its the least useful rating as the speeds are not dramatic with each soul level spent. Others feel is a must have. I think it should be noted that it also fairly minor investment (38 soft cap) compared to everything else. If you are a heavy rolling character, then the other i-frames would likely be a big deal to you. Since the game lets us respec, I suggest trying it out for a few sections and see how it feels.

Lower than 70% ;)

I'm really usually around 48%. I rock a Heide Knight Chainmail +8, Flying Cat Boots +8, Black Hold and Scaled Gauntlets or whatever they're called. Don't know how much END/VIT I have.

You?

So many of the enemies are weak to strike (armored enemies heavy game) i think that is partly why strength builds have it easier than dex builds. With a quality build you should be ok as you can use most weapons. If you do not have have strike weapons, try a thrust weapon versus armored enemies over slash. I am currently on a dex build character run and more and more i am using thrust over slash because of that. Just remember to use the Leo Ring if you do go thrust.

Yeah, I have a backup mace for Drizzt(my dark elf character), I just hate using it because I am trying to use dual scimitars like he wields in the books. Mace plus scimitar looks lame lol.

Dodging requires more finesse I think. Everything is a little delayed. You press a button and the character reacts more realistically for example raising your shield. Spam the block button in Dark Souls 1 and your characters raising and lowers shield in a comical quickness. It adds to the games difficulty. I like the change. I think if it were not for that Dark Souls 2 may have been too easy from the get go/
