Official Thread Sunset Overdrive

I do not see the game anywhere near top of chart, so it certainly ain't a big seller, how well it did is not clear. I certainly hope it does well, as I like good games to sell well (regardless if I like it or not, or on a platform I do not own).

SUnset going Mulitplatform is good news for gamers, but if MS wanted to keep the next game exclusive, it means they see potential in the game & developer, & also the game must be doing decently. EIther way is fine by me.

Couple of things to keep in mind with looking at popularity charts....

1) The game had an official bundle ( wonder how many of those were in that million+ November)
2) Digital Distribution.

Even if those only equated to 300k in sales, that could be the difference between top 3 on a popularity chart or not even top 20.

not only bundled but bundled with a hugely in demand exclusive white xbox one

Game is fantastic, deserves great sales. Dragon Age is my GOTY but SO is the runner up.

How are people liking the new DLC?

Fair point on the bundle, but digital distribution apply to just about every game on the chart as well, so it pretty much even out.

Not when most on the list are multiplatform games. Plus, saying it evens out implies that all sell same via digital, which obviously will not be the case.

But how do you know which games sell well digitally and which don't? You don't so, like starseeker said, it evens out because you just have to nullify those sales.

I suppose for some games like FH2 for example, you could use the leaderboards and take the difference, but not every game lends itself to that.

but now you nullify a large portion of the popularity any game has, which once again makes retail popularity charts kind of worthless, not totally, but they are far from the analytical cornerstone they once were.

Without a doubt, I agree. Still though, without the actual data we can't pick and choose which games we think did well digitally.

Well, no. But that was not what I was trying to do. I was simply saying that popularity charts are not the accurate source they once were and that there are multiple reasons why it may not have charted.

still hope to pick this up soon, playing dragon age right now and i have ac unity to play as well, wished i could have got the SO x1 bundle but i am happy with what i got

I'm loving Mooil Rig so far! I got the season pass somewhere for $12, and if the next addition is like this it's well worth it.

And I have to agree....don't give up on the game after a few hours. The better stuff happens later.

Overall SO has been my favorite game of the year. I realize it's *somewhat* repetitive (although you can make that argument for any game, really), but the game presentation overall feels very fresh and new, and once you get the traversal down it flows well. The music, art, and humor are all fantastic, and I can't wait for a sequel.

I can't wait to get my hands on Sunset Overdrive. I wish it came out earlier instead of during prime time of the gaming season. The game sounds great and you just reassured me of that.

Game is good, but does have a whole lot of repetition. Some really awesome set pieces/missions, but I ended up skipping most the fetch quests and ubi-side content. Hope they actually make the sequel, if there is one, more focused and less open world. That aspect didn't help the game any imo.

@videogamedeals: Sunset Overdrive (X1) Digital Download $30 via Xbox Live. May need to be a Gold member. http://t.co/vF3iLu0hv1

Yeah, this game is a steal at $30. Like others have said though, it eventually runs it course & it is repetitive. Still, I think it's the best new franchise on Xbox One & we have very few of those. Some short DLC came out recently too.

Fixed.

We have no numbers and yet people are still happy to claim it's a flop.

just recently got this and its a pretty cool game, going to get gold soon so i can play the chaos squad which seems like it will be pretty good.

Every game is basically repetition. I haven't played it that much by any means but don't see how people can play this game and complain about repetitiveness and then go play a game like destiny. Which I have like 300+ hours on that lol. It's basically the same stuff over and over. Open world is cool don't know how that hurts the game either. I am worried about what I'm going to do after I beat the campaign though. I like the side quests but chaos squad isn't godd enough to keep majority of people around. Need more add ons and like a true horde like game mode with waves. Or PvP . We will see I hope they do more with multiplayer because the game is fun

Yeah, I'm curious, does anybody who bought the game at/near launch still play regularly? I loved it when it came out, but now I only play it once in a while and never for longer than a half hour.

Been playing other stuff but there dlc will bring me back to this.

Well just beat the campaign we will see how long chaos squad and the exclusive clothes and stuff for it keeps me interested. Working towards the pimp hat right now though. 700K is a lot to save up. If insomniac doesn't abandond the game which I don't think they will they can easily make people want to still play it day after day. It's still fun to jump in right now and destroy things and work up leaderboards and stuff but soon more multiplayer stuff needs to be added in

For real. Even the deepest games are repetitive in the end. What are you really doing that's any different from what you've been doing once you're at a certain point in a game? Not a whole lot. It always kills me when people bash a game for being repetitive and then turn around and log 8 hours a day into something like CoD/BF multiplayer, and i'm a big fan of shooters.

Got this finally as a nice surprise for Christmas :D Haven't had time to do much other than install it but can't wait to fire it up when things calm down.

Got this game this weekend, and so looking forward to playing it. My son beat the game in one sitting (13 hours), and then the next day did all the side missions. And now we have already bought the season pass. I can't wait to start it on my profile. I launched it up this morning and started my character development and will start the campaign tonight.

My son gives it a 10 out of 10 review.

i havent played chaos squad on this yet so if anyone wants to coop sometime just let me know. The game is awesome and the weapons are pretty crazy, i had a combo of at least 144 last night when i completed a challenge.
