Something i really noticed after watching Sony's E3

I'll go as far to say Killzone still looks better graphically than Halo 5 and that is sad to me. Killzone is a launch game.

It does I think too, I'm not worried about it though, KZ sucked. I usually get over the visuals of any game in the first 3 hours, then you are left with just the game.

Idk judging by what they said, scale and smoothness are there two keypoints visually, they said some of their maps are 4x any of the other halo games so running at 60fps with more scale, slightly better visuals has to be taxing as hell.

I've heard that too but every time I heard it they were referencing multiplayer map size for their War zone game type.

Even crazier if that's the case. I will love the campaign myself, it reminds me of republican commando, but multiplayer is where its at.

Yea the only xb1 game I've ever actually bought is Ki lol. Halo 5 is going to be added to the short list. I would just rent it and be done with it but I actually had a lot of fun in the beta. I tried to go play halo 4 after and it just wasn't the same at all. I ended up quitting after 1 match.

Yea I thought Cuphead looked awesome. Will definitely be picking it up.

I see.

I hate that art style but I've always hated those old types of cartoons, the work they've done though is VERY impressive it's just not for me. Nobody can deny that it takes a lot of work and talent to make a game look that much like a cartoon.

Too lazy to find the article, but a good thing about this game is that the devs realize that shooter that is boss based can be short on length (assuming someone is decent at side shooters).

So what they've done is adjust the boss attack algorithms so they will attack you in different patterns so it's not as predictable as classic side scrolling games.

So Recore is coming out in Q1 2016. That's, at most, eight months away from release. You'd think that they would have shown gameplay at E3. I'm wondering why that didn't happen.

It's a bit long, but if you don't mind that, read it and tell me what you think.

Now you guys know me as someone who highly prefers Xbox One and how Microsoft handles things. I still don't have a PS4, that will happen next year. I really enjoyed Microsoft's show, but unexpectedly Sony's show for me, was far better. I also noticed something, it's nothing new, but it slightly saddens me.

When i buy a new console, i expect to be blown the f*** away by graphics. Ryse definitely did that, not its gameplay, but graphically for damn sure too. Also what i've seen of Killzone SF and Infamous SS looked really goddamn good. I am a big graphics fan, even though i DO realize that....gameplay>graphics. But i can never agree when some people say...''who cares about graphics, even if this game had 360 graphics i'd be ok with that.'' Sorry...but no, just no.

So i was hoping to be blown away by some graphics in new and/or already announced MS games. Halo 5 looked good, but didn't exactly do it for me, and i have to be honest, i did not like the shimmering/aliasing one bit. Not when Halo 4 looks soooooooooooo clean. How will that be when it launches? We will see then. That said...nothing blew me away. Nothing that made me say'''oooooooh shiiiiiiieeeet, this looks too good!''. Rare's collection is awesome, but the new IP? Errr....i don't know yet. I would have gone wild if they had had a proper Banjo 3. :(

I am not even going to talk about the surprises from Sony too much..(The last guardian and Shenmue 3 kickstarter) but when they showed Guerilla's Horizon (i can be proud when a developer like that is from my country) and i saw the environments, i thought to myself...''damn if this is in-game, it already looks prettier than Witcher 3.'' Then they showed gameplay and my jaw dropped to the floor. That is truly something you'd call a real next gen/current gen game, something that in no way would be possible on PS3. The other time my jaw again dropped was during Uncharted 4. I was not a big fan of the previous demo, not too impressed at all. But this was crazy, just too f***ing good. How exactly can they make worlds like this , looking so damn good with little/no aliasing to be seen and this smooth? ND are truly wizards.

So in a few words...it actually pains me to say this as a big Xbox dude, but Sony is bringing the true state of the art graphics and Microsoft was not....not yet at least. I don't believe it's all because of the hardware difference, it's part of the reason, but i also believe Microsoft sadly just lacks the developers with that kind of talent. I also like how Sony actually shows gameplay of games that are not even close to release (Horizon), true gameplay, why did MS not do the same with Recore? A game that is apparently releasing Spring 2016.........

Maybe Scalebound and Crackdown are truly going to impress, but no way on Guerilla and ND levels. I've seen some pretty crazy comments on other forums, after Sony's show was over, things like..Xbox is dead, go pack your things Microsoft and all that bulls***. No way that's how it's for me, but i AM a bit disappointed that my console of choice is not yet getting games with really jawdropping graphics, but i am positive that the system is capable of it.

I'd almost forget Gears 4. Mixed feelings about that demo. I had truly expected a first Gears 4 reveal to be jawdropping, like it was with the first one back in the day. That's not to say it looked bad, no, the moving foliage was great, really helped bring a nice atmosphere and the creatures at the end were great too. But it missed a whole lot of graphical punch. It was way too...flat. No bumpmapping on ground/walls, no real impressive lighting yet, except for cool flashlight in the beginning of the video. I DID really dig the destruction part though. Now the game is 1.5 years away from release,so a lot is no doubt going to happen, i expect it to look a lot better next E3, this is Gears man. I assume they just wanted to show something and not another CG trailer.

With all that said, i am looking very forward to the holidays with games like Halo 5(hope they can improve things some more, i just despise shimmering), Rise of the Tomb Raider, maybe Fable Legends and of course my favorite Fallout 4.

Sony's E3 events are historically notorious for the old bait and switch.

ND rarely delivers something which looks as good as what they show at E3. UC4 looks great, but it's a clear downgrade from what they originally showed, and until the game's out, I wouldn't count on it looking as good as it does at the show.

Horizon, same thing. Guerilla Games did the worst lie in all of games showcases. The E32005 showcase of KZ2 will never be erased.

Don't fall for it. Wait until the games come out, then do your own evaluation... until then, don't buy what you see on Sony's stage. It's usually a clear exaggeration.

Ooooooh! Thats RIGHT!!!!

:yspooked:

Nothing rendered in real-time in UC4 will ever resemble what ND first showed off. It was a hoax. A lie. A deceit. The game they showed off at E3 2015 runs at half the frame rate, and significant steps back in image quality. The first showing was a typical sizzle trailer meant to woo the gullible. It worked. But it's still a farse.

Horizon looks great, but Sony's track record for lies on the E3 stage is poignant, and needs to be considered. They always over-promise on tech and visuals. It's par for the very long course Sony's been on for years.

I'm pretty sure the original UC4 trailer was more a demonstration of what the engine was capable of rather than gameplay. Which makes sense because no gameplay was actually shown in that original reveal.
I mean things like that even happen on the PC. It is a demonstration of what the engine can do in lieu of things like A.I. scripts, physics, etc that would take up extra resources and not deliver all that the engine can render.
This simple 'Kite' demonstration was rendered using a Titan X (which has 8 billion transistors) and as of yet we haven't seen a game on the PC that looks that smooth and CGI-like in game.

My point is companies do this all the time. To hold Sony solely accountable for this is a little disingenuous. As for your quip about Sony having a track record for lies....well thank God they weren't using a bunch of high end PCs to run their demo kiosks.

Nope.

Look back. Sony sold it as if it was real-time, representative of what players would see in the game. I'm not being disingenuous, you're being naive. Sony and ND meant to lie. They meant to mislead... And it worked.

Also, using PC dev kits to demo games is totally normal prior to launch, and notice what was shown was no better than what was launched. It *WAS* representative of the final product... The UC4 trailer wasn't even close to that. It was nothing more than a sham.

Flynn you do know other companies have done this right? Not just Sony & ND.

Take a look at my post history. Yes, I know, and I don't approve.

One of the first (and worst) offenders was Halo 2. The reveal trailer was EXACTLY like what ND notoriously does... it was rendered on an Xbox alright, it was "in-engine", it was using all in-game assets, and it was rendered "in real-time", but it was rendered at a couple frames a second, then recorded and played back at 30 FPS. It's (by definition) pre-rendered... but you can use nearly every term in the book to imply it's representative of actual in-game visuals... sucks.

Exactly the same thing with ND's UC4 trailer. It was false/fake.

The difference is, Sony/ND/Guerilla are *MUCH* more common offenders than Microsoft. Tragically, MS higher-ups are seeing how effective it is with Sony to essentially lie about the visual quality, so I'm hearing about and seeing more and more examples of us doing it, and it sickens me. The tragic part is that it's only still being done because it works. People fall for it every time... and then the ones who see through it are labeled as "douches". Tragic.

To menace-uk-: I know we haven't always seen eye to eye, but God damn it if I'm going to hold a grudge against you now. To my friend...

I love it when the diehard Xbox fanatics feel they have to prevent the TC from joining the other side at all costs with long-winded nonsense that all gaming companies have done at some point. I'm not sure if the TC was just posting his personal opinion, or he was seeking out someone to talk him out of potentially buying a PS4. Either way, it's really funny reading some of the posts trying to pursuade him not to.

What a vivid imagination you have...

There was no attempt to convince anyone to buy or not buy anything. That's just silly.

Guys, if you really want to offend Flynn, buy him a PS4.

Buying PS4's, Sony wining on sales, or even fans flipping doesn't offend me... it inspires me. It motivates me.

...if you want to offend me, tell me UC4's original trailer was rendered in real-time at 60fps on a PS4. That would offend me. I know that to be false.

...in case I haven't already made that completely obvious. :)

I've put some thought into this. I wonder about the nature of groups made up of people who associate strongly with that group. Political parties, religious circles, club fans, and obviously fanboys. And I wonder what happens to those groups when their base becomes diminished or smaller.

I think what happens, and I think I see it here, is that the people in that group, up to a certain point, becomes even more crazed/attached to said group. They will more vehemently defend their organization. They will attack competitors at a higher rate. They basically become more enraged and steadfast that their falling organization holds the true key.

I definitely saw it with Nintendo fanboys during the GameCube years and I wonder if I'm starting to see it with this group right here.

This site already feels pretty dead, banning active posters for calling a spade a spade is hilarious imo even more so because the banned party is heavily on the green team.. Anyway, what I truly don't understand is all this UC downgrade talk. The game looked better than anything MS showed. I mean literally it was graphically more impressive than every single thing at MS conference.

All this downgrade talk is bonkers.
