Polygon: CoD: Ghosts. Say X1>PS4 version. VG PS4>X1.

There is a huge benefit/difference to analyzing actual footage instead of peeping still shots, especially at 60 FPS. Mosaic patterns and jaggies are far more noticable because they shift and crawl across the screen. You don't see a huge difference in those BF4 Digital Foundry still shots, but watch the 2GB 60 FPS footage files and it's much more noticeable. It's completely wrong to say there's "no benefit" to watching the game in motion, especially when it comes to framerates.

In that IGN comparison vid the guy said the PS4 version was "locked at a smooth 60 FPS with the odd minor hiccup", "if you demand the highest fidelity the PS4 version is the one to buy". Doesn't sound like a major framerate issue to me.

So why are impressions varying so much? Some people just can't tell framerate or resolution that easily, or the viewing distance might be an issue, etc. I'm not accusing anyone at Polygon of bias, I just think their impressions are out of whack.

People really seem to love the PS4 controller. It's sad how excited I am to try out both systems' new controllers.

That has been the case because that has seen the WAY more drastic change. Both controllers have been getting great reviews. People just want to use the one that has been changed the most.

I will say however that it will take years to find out which was is truly better. Millions need to get them in their hands and play all different types of games.

GAF has a thread up about the rubber on the thumb sticks for the PS4 having issues. Not sure if it is a bad batch or not.

“I don’t know if it’s possible to be honest. It’s not something we’re going to look at right away because we have higher priority items we have to hit first. Launching, especially with a whole new backend and so many different changes to our networking etcetera – there’s a lot for our engineers to do post-launch but I don’t know if they’ve even thought about where we could go with a patch like that. I actually don’t even know if it’s possible.” - about resolution patching

Of course it's possible, the question is will it run afterwords.

Has any console game ever had a resolution upgrade via a patch before?

Not that I recall. I'm not even sure where the rumor started tbh, so I really can't answer your previous question.

I seriously almost bought one today, just to try out and play games on my PC until I searched online and saw there weren't adequate drivers yet. It looks a lot smaller in person.

This is pretty much how I feel about comparing the game on the two systems. And the movie as well actually.

Not that this will fix the issues we are having now with comparing but i think they should have done/do something like i have below.
I believe they should have skipped a proper CoD title this year and just did a best of MP from MW1 up to BO2. The best maps, weapons, modes , etc. That would have given the teams extra time to make a new engine and start fresh. Plus switch to bringing a new title every other year giving each team even more time to refine there game.

"The early reviews of Call of Duty: Ghosts--including mine--mentioned that the PlayStation 4 version of the game suffers from occasional frame rate issues. For me, it usually showed up whenever there were a lot of particle effects on screen, but it'd pop up at random, too. I'm told that Infinity Ward is working on a patch to correct the performance issues."

It seems like devs are putting contrast/sharpening/brightness filters on the xbox one games to make up somewhat for the lower resolution. I think BF4 is also doing it. You know, even though you can do the same thing by fiddling with your TV settings.. but apparently it's impressive to some people.

You know, I expected the differences in fidelity/IQ to be much larger then they are in the comparison vids, and with the PC/PS4 framerate issues I expected the X1 to have issues too.

I can't believe how worked up people get over which console performs better on this VERY dated engine. :p

So the Activision devs are lazier than I thought. Why is the PS4 version also not 720p if they couldn't get a stable framerate? What terrible oversight.

Yeah! How dare they try to make the users think the game looks better by doing stuff that makes the game look better, when they should instead delight everyone who really knows to trust the spec sheets over their eyes. What a ripoff!

I bet when its discovered that the ps4 version is using listen servers(essentially p2p) for its mp, we will see a definite favor for the X1 version.

What BS?
We have people who are saying the PS4 version has an ustable framerate.

We have people saying it does not.
Either it is true or not. I don't have a stake in this because I'm not a fanboy, but I'm not going to call either claim BS until it is proven.
Just try to understand, I know you get all worked up when something negitive is said about your baby PS4 in relation to the Xb1.

Because there are actually more sources stating the opposite AND the best version(pc) also suffers from fps issues.
Are you saying because a couple sources ( which is still less then the one's saying the opposite) say the XBO has a better fps its better then the PS4 version and the pc version as both of them share the same issues?

One has to wonder if the PS4 version was forced 1080p due to the inferior upscaling capabilities of the PS4...
