Polygon has updated it's review of Call of Duty: Ghosts to reflect the lifting of the Xbox One version embargo. It might surprise some.....

Call of Duty: Ghosts review update: Xbox One
While the Xbox One version of Call of Duty: Ghosts has been confirmed by Activision to run at a lower resolution than its PS4 counterpart (720p upscaled to 1080p native, respectively), that numerical difference is less meaningful than you might imagine.

The two versions look nearly identical. Viewing the Xbox One release next to the PS4 , I had difficulty telling them apart. It's possible that the PS4 version looked somewhat sharper, but that may have just been my imagination after confirming the hard resolution difference. The next-gen releases of Call of Duty: Ghosts are so close together that gun to my head, I'd have no confidence in being able to discern which version was which — at least, while the two are standing still.

The Xbox One release's framerate was far more noticeable. As mentioned in the initial review, Call of Duty: Ghosts suffers from consistent framerate drops on the PS4, especially during multiplayer when action got especially hectic. The Xbox One version suffered no such drops, maintaining a steady 60 frames per second throughout.

For a multiplayer shooter, framerate consistency is paramount. Given its relative visual parity with the PS4 release, Call of Duty: Ghosts is a more playable, slightly superior (albeit disappointing) game on Xbox One.

I suspect a GAF outrage and a subsequent boycott from some people of Polygon with claims of moneyhatting and bias....

It got a .5 higher score than everything else, but still a 7 for COD is low..

In the end, not a big deal....performance was always behind on sony platform for CoD games.

The game blows anyway.

IGN review said the PS4 res difference is def noticeable. Also I still have only heard the SP is smoother on XB1 nothing about how the mp runs.

World explodes!
I will wait for more sources as the opposite has been said as well.
The pc and ps4 have issues that should be addressed via a update.

This is some good positive news for the X1!

Might buy it on X1 if more reviews say the same thing.

I think it will probably bounce back and forth and just be a wash in the end. The PS4 is going to of course be sharper as it is native 1080p, but if the X1 doesn't suffer from fps drops then that is definitely a plus for the X1 version. Either way...Acti should wake up and stop milking this franchise after getting a 7 or less lol

They also need to fix the PC version which runs @ 60fps when you have 2-3 Titans in SLI lol

Did they play the mp though and comment on how the framerate is on the 2. Everytime I see a article about it they always compare sp.

Yeah...that's f***ed, IW really s*** the bed IMO with this game this time around..there should be no reason the PC version is suffering like that on 2 Titans, or that it cant be both 1080p and 60fps on PS4/X1 with its old ass engine. To think, they apparently didn't have full access to 100% of the X1.

Xbox One Comparison

The one they label as PS4 looks a 'lil better to me with less jagged edges and some sharpness but this video is badly rendered and pixelates, that's not just a YT issue, that's a rendering issue.

I hope Vonderhaar is working on a new engine the prick!

Edit: Sadly YT does not allow anything above 30fps for their vids so we aren't really going to notice the frame rate drops that Poly is saying the Quad has.

I'm tired of hearing about crap ass sp. I want to hear how mp runs on the next gen systems.

It's not that X1 is better than we thought, it's actually that PS4 version is a LOT worse than we thought. With such gap in resolution it really has to look way clearer and better, but the difference - especially in SP - is nearly negligible that when Polygon writer states that there's no difference you can't say he's lying. And just look at those jaggies in PS4 version in comparison videos and shots, I'm like... wait, what is going on with PS4 version?

I'm just assuming since there's a keyboard and a mouse it will be solid 120fps. I haven't read any PC reviews. Qbert may have more info on that.

Um, I'm not Qbert, but CODG on PC has been a disaster. Using two pieces of one of the fastest graphics card, the game scored only 45~70fps on highest setting. With this kind of graphical fidelity, it should have hit somewhere around 150.

Then master race is your only choice.

I have PC but like I said, GPU's on PC which should be doing 1080p/120fps can't even do 60fps with 2 x GTX Titans in Ghosts.

Respawn Entertainment must be laughing at Infinity Ward right now! lol
