Microsoft at Gamescom, Aug 22 - 26

I said publishing, not publishing video games. Just to be clear.

So you're knowlege of publishing is not at all related to videogames?

But as i said, whatever, believe what you want....

Well in fairness i dont think music or video relates to consoles in the same way given you can watch Disney movies on a Sony Blu Ray player and Sony Artists on Apple hardware.

No. Digital content. web applications mostly. But the concept of first/third party is exactly the same. Something developed in house on our platform is first party. Something hosted on our platform and published by us, but not developed by us is third party, even if we're the only place you can get it. These are legal references you see in contracts as well so it's not just a term thrown around with a loose meaning.

Do you exclusively manufacture the hardware that runs the software? Because if not your situation would be akin to EA with Battlefield (built internally, EA owned) Battlefront (built internally, licensed IP) and Titanfall(built externally,IP not owned) ...yet Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo would consider them 3rd party as EA is the publisher on all

Don't really pay much attention to gaming on the weekend but i watched Gamescom last night. I can see why people are disappointed but at the same time it's nothing we didn't already know. Not sure what people were expecting. Wasn't even really aware that people treated it like an E3 show, lol. Acting like there should have been some big new game reveal or something.

That Project Scorpio day one edition console looks cool. Along with the Minecraft Xbox One S, that should sell well to the casuals. Saw the Eurogamer article saying Microsoft is all done and this was their last chance to sell the Xbox One X. Give me a break, it's going to sell just for the fact that it's going to have the best third party games.

Eurogamer took cheapshots with that article. I'm sure their base audience was pleased.

Well they really shouldn't have had a show for gamescom. They were just inviting criticism. Should have just put out some kind of montage and announced preorders were available.

True. And I don't even disagree with their opinion. Just the snarky levels they stooped to. Talking about 4k Disney games for the discerning 12 year old or whatever they stated is just unnecessary.

Well if Sony spends 90 minutes showing old trailers at Paris Games Week they deserve the same criticism.

That's why Sony isn't there, the show is too close to E3 and there really won't be anything new to show 2 months after E3. They really should have just put out a press release on social media and a youtube video, it was just a pre-order date there was nothing else new really other than that so it didn't need a 90 minute show.

They are doing a show at Paris Games Week soon too.

I didn't even watch the show because I didn't expect anything other than pre order info. Lol

I don't see anything wrong with the casual presentation they had though. It seemed (from what I gather) like a Nintendo Direct without the new content.

It's real bad because I am starved for new footage! Hopefully Gamescom will net us some gameplay!

As well the PlayStation Experience in December which I will be attending again.

I'm still debating, last year I bought my ticket for Saturday the day they went on sale, went and picked up my goodie bag and badge the day before the event and then had an a****** family member make up a fake "emergency" that ended up keeping me from going. How long were the lines to play games? how long did you have to wait?

Went on Saturday and it was so freaking crowded. Lines were long as hell but expect to wait at least an hour or so for popular booths. My only advice is to wait in line that gives free things (plush dolls, tshirts, keychain, collectible items, etc.) that is if you're going to wait that long. That's what I did and I ended up selling most of them on eBay which pretty much paid for my ticket and my roomate's ticket. I'm going on Sunday this time because of Capcom Cup 2017.

People don't expect that...not here atleast. But I don't think people expected them to just show all the same trailers and info as E3. People also expected a C3 MP demo. Why aren't they showing off this hyped up part of the game?

I think I have an idea why but if I say what it is I'll be called a troll lol.

Well Phil Spencer told us already that they were not debuting any new games at Games-com, so I wasn't anticipating any.

Well if you aren't going to debut any at E3 then obviously you aren't at gamescom but I think its more about them doing in 90 minutes what they could have done in under 30. They would have been better served going the Nintendo Direct route and just focusing on a couple games like PUBG and Forza.

I agree. But honestly, what does it hurt though? Isn't it really kind of a non issue?

My only issue was having to sit through 90 minutes of mostly recycled footage to get my preorder info. 30 minutes? Ok. 60? That's pushing it. 90? Come on. All for the same damn Forza 7 video we've already seen?

At least do the preorder info at the start or the middle or something.

But they know that is the reason many are watching.

I have to sit through an entire season of the bachelor to see who gets the final rose (because my wife makes me). SO f***ING DEAL WITH IT.
