Microsoft at Gamescom, Aug 22 - 26

Its a first party game. Big Philly Style aint going out of his way to make a ps4 version of this years biggest new ip
IIt's not first party...it's not even second parity. It is 3rd party...and why on earth would the dev make it full exclusive on a platforrm with a 3rd of the consumer base as the leading console.

It is a ttimed at best right now. Unless MS buys the studio, which they wont, or buys the IP, this game will come to PS4.

I'm a little confused by this one. Are Microsoft publishing the game or not ?

Hopefully this deal they have done with PUBG means the game will get supported in the Preview Program and they won't have to wait 5 to 8 for certification with any update or patch they release.

I'm looking at you, Conan Exiles!!

They are publlishing.

Well, if they are publishing it won't come to Sony as long as that deal holds. That's a bit more than a timed exclusive. It does mean proper support while it's in preview though which is great.

They did the samething with Tombraider.

They haven't said it is full on exclusive despite them constantly being asked. Which is the same as Tombraider aswell.

It will come to PS4.

Microsoft games on Microsoft hardware are first party

No. It relates to a publishers relationship to the hardware.
lol.

1st party: Forza, horizon, Halo, Gears 4. A game made by a MS owned studio or from a MS owned IP(Forza Horizon).

2nd party: Gears 1-3, Sunsetoverdrive, Ryse. A game made by third party exclusively for a platform.

3rd parrty: Everything else, incdluding timed exclusives.

1st party = Game published by platform manufacturer
2nd Party = non existant
3rd party = everything else

No it does not. I was involved with publishing and publishing deals for a few years. You're completely wrong here.

But whatever, you can think what you want.

Quoting for accuracy.

Im not, but im surprised that someone -allegedly - involved with publishing video games doesn't know the difference between a third party studio and a first party game.

But if you insist that Microsoft releasing games on Microsoft hardware makes Microsoft a third party publisher on their own consoles, thats some real spin right there.

Quoting for accuracy.

If thats accurate, can you list 25 2nd party studios?

Microsoft is a third party publisher, publishing Minecraft for other platforms, such as Switch and IPhone :p

Correct. Microsofts relationship with Switch and Apple hardware is different because they make neither one, thus supporting the nature of a first party is relative to the publishers relationship to the hardware.

Oddly enough, even though Microsoft owns Minecraft, I think Sony is the one that publishes Minecraft for the PS4. So Sony is publishing a Microsoft game. Microsoft is using Sony as a publisher. Oh snap.

A second party studio is potentially all of them. A second party studio is an independant studio contracted to make a game. Examples this gen would be Crytek(Rhyse), Playground Games( Forza Horizon),Insomniac (Sunset Overdrive). All those games are exclusive but only one is a first party MS game.

Because it is good business.

1st party is the one that you go to when you're not actually close to the people who invited you, but it would be rude to not show up and it may be tempting to return later if there are any hotties.

2nd party is the one you Goto that you're pretty sure has the best booze and company.

3rd party (if you aren't returning to the first) is the one where they won't care if you throw up in their laundry sink, and the host wouldn't care if you double dipped a chip into the salsa, but you don't want to because there's a cigarette butt in it already and someone named Kylie is trying to tell you how dolphins are her spirit animal.

I always saw 3rd Party as the One you left the Second Party for, only to realize it sucks and you should never have left in the first place, but you already drove across town and it would take too long to get back, so you are stuck at the crappy one and no one is happy...

No s*** sherlock.

You know what a contract is and how they work, right?

Well no, since every contracts terms and conditions vary from contract to contract they can all work differently.

Plus as you agree all are third party studios, you state only one game is first party. So i guess those 2 of those contracts are not like the other.

Hom can you not understand the basics of how a contract works.

Then again you do think a game not owned by first party is a first party game.

I said publishing, not publishing video games. Just to be clear. I know exactly what first v third party publishing is when it comes to digital content. And yes, you are 100% wrong. But as i said, whatever, believe what you want....
