Battlefield V

What does this even mean? Like reviving time?

How quickly you die based on your health and the gun damage that’s hitting you. That’s Time to Kill. It’s a critical part of a shooter.

Time to kill is basically how long it takes to kill someone. Essentially, how much damage do bullets do.

A realistic game like Rainbow 6 Siege where a short burst can kill has a very low time to kill. Contrast that with Destiny (or Halo) where people have shields and it takes multiple shots to kill someone. That has a much longer time to kill. You can dance around another player in Destiny/Halo for a bit before someone dies.

For anyone who played BF1, it had a much longer TTK. You could shoot people in the chest and see 19 damage. It takes 100 to kill, so you need at least a couple more shots to take someone down. In BF1, you could run around and take damage, then go hide and heal with a medic.

BF V the TTK got shorter. Bullets do more damage and it takes less time to kill someone. Also you tend to die a lot quicker. Early on, Dice decreased the damage the bullets did, so now it took more shots to kill, so therefore more time to kill.

TTK varies for body shots vs head shots in games where there's a headshot multiplier (most of them). It is very common to see TTK charts for games broken down like this. If there are 10 guns for a class and you know the TTK for all of them, the one with the lowest TTK is probably the best (unless other strange factors come in).

In Rainbow 6, if I am behind you and shoot you in the head, you're dead. In Halo, I shoot you from behind and I just knock down your shield some.

I thought they switched the TTK back to when the game released. It sure doesn't feel like they did.

I've enjoyed the little I've played of this particular battlefield. I've gotta say, the air combat is top notch...they really captured(what I imagine) the visceral thrill of being in a dogfight with stunning visuals, audio, and good controls. So glad they added rudder control which was lacking in the previous installment. I've lost a number of engagements by simply gawking at the Spitfire I was piloting, such a beautiful warbird.

Speaking of the Spitfire, Amazon recently released an excellent documentary titled "Spitfire: The Plane That Saved The World". Definitely worth a watch if you're a fan of aviation or history in general.

My neighbor has three P-51 mustangs along with the last airworthy p-63 Aircobra. He had a Hawker Sea Fury that he raced in the Reno Air Races for years. He felt that one was going to put him in the grave so he sold it. I feel pretty fortunate to have flown in his prize possession, "Ole Yeller". It was Bob Hoovers old Mustang and is without a doubt the most famous P-51D Mustang flying today. Flying in a Spitfire would complete me...lol. Sorry for rambling on.

It is the same as launch, but yeah, they could actually adjust it to be even faster. That's why it was so crazy that they adjusted it in the first place.

I think there's some hit detection issues going on too. I shoot people and they seem to run through bullets and just keep going.

It means more than that.
Somestimes. Like in Destiny there are many layers, health, armour, shields, powerlevel, etc.

But in BF5 it really is just bullet damage, since everybody starts with exactly the same health.

Its roughly bullet damage?

I was talking about the variables like individual weapon damage, effective range, recoil, accuracy, etc. All of that is part of the TTK.

Played a bunch this morning. I was doing fine with Medic and the first gun you start with even on bigger maps. I just worked the trigger at range.

Played all Grand Operations had some good teammates for the most part. Mode is fun.

Sitting at over a 1.20 KD and over a 300 spm. I forget the exact numbers. Loving this game!

I'm putting some more time into the medic. Is the medic crate still bugged? It seems better just to toss the individual pouches to people (easy points too).

So far my favorite weapons are the STG for assault, Sten for medic, Model 8 for recon and KE7 for support.

That is more like DPS.

TTK is alot simpler. It based on the premise that you hit all shots at effective range. So, 3 bullets = death, which is all bullet damage. More recoil, etc doesn't effect it at all , as it is always 3 bullets to kill.

As far as crate falling through the floor? No, it's still bugged.

I'm kinda at an impasse here. I'm maxed on both normal ranking and TOW ranking. Got the guns and Ratburner helmet. I've been ranking up the weapons but find myself bored silly. I hear the next patch and round of TOW could be coming this month but Dice has been mum on it as far as I know.

There's supposedly some good quality of life fixes coming this month too. Supposedly medic SMGs are getting another buff. I still think they should get a rifle option, but that helps.

I agree. Maybe once they bring in more famous WW2 battles i.e. Battle of Stalingrad it will feel like a WW2 game.
They really missed the boat on the authenticity. I was playing Battlefield 3 The other night and really was struck by how they nailed the feel, behavior, dialogue, and atmosphere.

It wasn't completely accurate, but it felt believable. I even a couple mild PTSD moments playing it.

BF 4 had some issues in that regard as well, but I thought BF1 did a decent job.

Yeah Battlefield 1 did a great job. At least you felt like you were playing a game set during WW1.

I'm not quite understanding what Dice is doing with BF5. Are they moving things along in sequence with WW2?

BF4 is better then BF1 imo. BFV is a improvement over BF1 by quite a bit though.
