What movies have you seen recently?

The only modern origin story for batman is Batman Begins, in which Thomas Wayne is presentd as a man for the people and Batman trying to save the "innocents" of Gothem from the criminals.

What Joker does is take that idea and flip it. Thomas Wayne is not a nice guy, and the "innocents" are what created one of Gotham's most menacing criminal figures. All of which culminates in the Origin of Batman.
That's been done before though, ie telltales batman. At least for me, it wasn't surprising at all that they made Thomas a dick.

Haven't played it, but if something being done before is a big deal breaker then you must not enjoy much.

Point is that he is created by the very people Batman stands for. Which is an interesting idea within the current Batman universe.

I understood your post to mean they did something new with the Waynes, I merely pointed out that it wasn't.
They have. I'm not sure how a small game that very few have played changes that. It is new for the movies. However, the point isn't that it is new, the point is how it changes the dynamics between characters , and challenges previously established ideals.

Saw Conan the Barbarian. It was meh, but with fun combat. I wish they made Conan feel like more of a barbarian.

I noticed Amazon has the old Arnold Conan films pack on blu ray for cheap thought about ordering it I haven’t seen those in many years. Never got around to the newer one.

If that was your point, okay.

Free Solo - Anxiety

I cried during the climb. It was emotion. It shouldn’t be possible. Reassessing my life. It’s just insane.

Hedon you probably won’t be able to see it.
Updating this... still great, but........... there's on a BASIC DVD release of it here in the states. Had to get a 4k from Germany which isn't truly 4K. It's all upscaled which is weird considering it was mostly shot in 4K I believe? Some scenes looked gorgeous, but others you can see the upscaling.

Personally I prefer Conan the Librarian.

I should LOVE this movie but I'm having trouble getting through it.

Maybe it's one of those ones I'll go back to on a day off and it will somehow grip me at some point. I guess I have other things I prefer watching right now.

Can't explain it because it seems really good but just not hooking me and I turn it off and try something else.

I watched The Master last night on Netflix. It’s my 2nd time seeing. The performances in that film are amazing.

That would be my favourite Joaquin Phoenix performance easily. kind of like the opening scene of Inglorious Basterds, don't necessarily think the movie is the best thing ever, but the acting is sooooo good in those opening scenes.

Last movie at a theater was 1917 which I thought was great.

Last movie at home was Doctor Sleep. Book was better but a good movie nonetheless.

Watched 1917.

Really enjoyed it simply because of camera work/view whatever you want to call it (cinematography)

Reminded me of Limbo/Inside in a way, the vibe of it, or the way it's presented was just different and made you think about things without distortion or something.

Doctor Sleep: Interesting

Movie had one very disturbing scene - kind of bold for them to include it. Otherwise felt like a fun fan-fiction sequel. Also, movie was freaking long at a 3 hour runtime.

Sonic the Hedgehog: disappointed after all the rave. Probably fun for younger audiences though.

Zombieland 2: Fell asleep during the first half of the movie. Had one memorable sequence at the end of the movie though.

Invisible Man: Nearly fell asleep watching this one. Far inferior to the Kevin Bacon version.

Resident Evil series:
Good action movies, a bit of hit and miss but overall they're good movies. Jovovich is beautiful.

Pandorum:
Same director as RE. Good, could've waited a bit longer before showing the creatures and the twist that came was pretty obvious but overall a good sci-fi movie.
I've seen it compared to Event Horizon, I'd say it got a similar vibe at the beginning but EH is a much better movie imo.

Contagion:
People shouldn't watch this atm lol
Movie was okay, great actors but honestly they could've settled for a cheaper cast, none of them shined in this movie.

1917: Good

I was very impressed with the photography and editing...perhaps distracted by them, trying to figure out how they shot and cut the film. There were some parts of the film that felt a little too slow, but overall a good film filled with some fun cameos.
