That Pure Leaf is awesome. I get the unsweetened black tea and put some Splenda in it.

I don't even both with Splenda.

Sometimes in these southern states I go into stores and they have no unsweet tea at all just Sweet or Extra Sweet. Or for some reason a Diet Tea. I gave one of those a try and it turned out to be full of so much artificial sweetener it tasted weird to me.

Yeah, they're terrible. I do bout with and without Splenda. I HATE lemon in my ice tea. Pure Leaf in the only brand I can regularly find undweetened and without lemon.

Drive an 08 Scion TC and currently at 195k miles so it's getting close to the time to look for a new car. I'd like to stick with a manual but the options are really limited. I'm liking the 2020 Mazda 3 hatchback but the only package with the manual is the most expensive one at $28k, which is way more than what I would want to spend on a car like that. The other option if I don't go manual would be a hybrid of some sort, either regular or even a plug-in.

how bout a corolla hatch xse 6spd in two tone black on bronze?

The corolla hatchback looks nice. If your going to pay 28k for a car, at that point a WRX (if you don't mind losing the hatch) or Veloster N will be more fun for the money.

I Wish there was still a hatch WRX/STI.

Yea I've always been interested in the WRX but lack of hatchback kind of kills it. But that does remind me that I haven't really thought much of anything from Subaru, even if just the regular Impreza.

28k out the door? The Corolla I spec’d was 24.2k and I’m rounding up, because TRD 😝

I'm looking at the Recession deals for cars. I wondered if anyone had opinions on Domestic vs. Foreign? People tell me don't buy foreign because repairs are always more expensive.

I'm curious about Toyota vehicles. What kind of caught my eye on them was the Toyota FJ Cruiser, but I also hear comments on Toyota for reliability.

Shopping for a car is strange when I spend so much time in a giant truck and look for something that doesn't look to tiny.

Maybe from being in a big truck, functional things appeal such as FJ Cruiser or Jeep Wrangler. I have to honestly ask myself when the fvck am I going to use a 4WD feature though.

ok, first what are you gonna use it for primarily? Maybe a list.... When most refer to foreign it’s usually associated with European cars.

Here is the mind set that people in general have:

  • European: Expensive to fix, higher quality feeling interiors, expensive and not as reliable as Asian cars
  • Toyota/Nissan/Honda: Average to fix, highest quality, average interiors, average price and the most reliable cars
  • American cars: Cheap to fix, lowest quality feeling interiors, average price, and the least reliable cars
  • Korean cars (Hyundai/Kia): Average to fix, average quality feeling interiors, average price and about as reliable as European cars
But in reality...from my perspective....American cars are just as reliable as the Toyota/Nissan/Honda cars now....finally after nearly 30 years of pure crap. They have reverse engineered what the Asian car makers have done. Took their cars, took them apart and copied them. American cars now enter the most reliable cars list pretty often.

Kia/Hyundai have drastically improved and are right up there with the Asian cars.

European cars, while improving in quality, are still expensive to repair, but need repairs much less often than before.

Asian cars are Asian cars. They have a quality control that seems to set the bar, with exceptions of course. Some will argue that Toyota isn't like they used to be as far as quality goes. I can't confirm that, but I haven't seen an mass media downplaying Toyota.

I am an American, and I bleed American cars all my life. However, I just bought a new 2019 Toyota 4Runner last year. I wanted a truck based SUV, body on frame, midsize, that is reliable, and was still in a current gen where the bugs were worked out. None of my American manufacturers seemed to hit the sweetspot for me, with the Jeep Grand Cherokee being one of the runners....but it wasn't as capable as the 4Runner.

I guess what I am saying, this day and age with safety, reverse engineering, competition, you really can't go wrong with European, Korean, Asian or American vehicles. They are all producing solid vehicles these days.

Please note that my comments here are purely my opinion and perception and are NOT being projected as fact.

You can't go wrong with Toyota. They are HIGHLY reliable. Not sure if you heard different? They have some good deals on RAV4's. Jeep will run you dry in repairs. Their quality has gone to s*** and they're a MASSIVE pain in the ass to repair and work on for mechanics. I believe the FJ has been discontinued?

I would see FJ around and I liked the style of them, but yeah I think they're discontinued.

Anyway, people keep saying Toyota as a foreign brand would have more expensive repairs or something, but I'm not sure it's really more or less than American cars.

I'm thinking what I need is something to commute to work, go shopping, or sometimes head across the bay to Mobile. Eventually, I would like to go on longer weekend trips.

I'm leaning toward the Corolla.

Today I came home with a Rav4.

I still debated the Corolla, but I'm happy with choosing the Rav4. I really like how it sits and rides. The interior console and seats are nice with plenty of room in the back.
