Project CARS Franchise is dead

Apparently nobody from the community even knew this was coming, they've created this game completely under the radar. Meanwhile AC had a very long PC beta with tons of feedback from the community.

My only wonder about the new AC is how it plays for offline players as I've sort of given up on online racing. I always preferred the physics in Pcars2 for some reason.

I don't want to be salty at them for no reason, but the whole thing smells funny. I won't touch it until I read reviews.

That’s what it felt like upon seeing the thread title for me. I was kinda expecting it to be in development for the next gen platforms, guess this gives them time to learn and get their feet wet.

Is this all crowdsourced (models/environments)like the first one, was the second one as well?

I was totally surprised too. How did they learn how to prevent leaks and yet Sony and MS can’t 😂

I don't remember how it worked in 1, but one of the sim racing youtubers said how originally CARS was an acronym for "community assisted racing sim" or something like that.

To me it feels like they are rushing something out before AC hits consoles.

Both Pc1 and 2 were crowed funded by tghe community. Anybody who donated got access to the dev version of the game. The feedback given throughout was instrumental to the end product.

PC3 has had none of that.

AC is worrying me. They seem very reluctant to talk about the console specific version, and we havr yet to see console gameplay. Only2 weeks until release aswell.

Atleast you can turn off the horriible motion blur. Camera shake and hud can be turned off too.

I want to hear your feedback ASAP! I might buy it if you like it.
So, some impressoions.

1. Playing with controller is playable, but still abit twitchy.
2. Virtually no rumble.
3. Pretty much zero feedback of what the car is doing on controller.
4. Game has some performance issue at night in the rain.
5. The 30 FPS isn't an issue. After a lap or two you don't really notice.
6. Physics are top notch. Best on console.
7 Audio is awesome.
8 graphics are OK.

It seems to be priced right, so based on your feedback, I will pick it up. I don't have a wheel, so I am not to concerned about using a controller. I had twitch issues in PC2, but I think you helped me with some menu settings in the game that helped, including oversteer/understeer with the controller.

Edit: Installing now.

Sounds like the AI is good. Hearing that the fps isn't steady would probably turn me off. I'd rather just play on PC, but the problem is I don't have space on my PC desk for a wheel (especially now that my gaming desk is now "work" too).

I would have advised against that. But I hope you enjoy.

If you would have said, it's a pile of s*** in every aspect, I would have skipped it. But I am content with your bullet points.

It definately isn't a piece of s***. A bit of work on the controller side of things and it would be very good.

I'm on an OG X1. Maybe stability on X1X is better.

The AI seems decent. In my first career race I thought the AI was going to be terrible. I started at the back and took over 12 cars in 4 minutes of 40 minute race, but, then I ended up having a great battle with 7th and 6th for the rest of tge 36 minutes.

it seems the higher placed tgey are the better they are. So, you have this mix of skill levels with number 1 being the max difficulty your difficulty choice allows. I have done 2 40 minute raced tgus far though. Maybe it just me being crap & inconsistent.

AI always seems like a challenge in a more real sim. The AI cars obviously can't have the same physics, and that makes it hard to keep it fair. I know in PCars2, the AI would be crazy fast on certain tracks and slow on others.

Why can't they have the same physics?

I don't think any game uses the same physics for the AI, but I could be wrong.

Some not good news on Pcars3. No tire wear, no fuel burn and no pit stops? They do this to "keep the racing action going".

Another hard pass.

Yikes, that is a no buy for me.
