Yeah you can use external storage on day one, they've said you can play BC games from the external storage as well just not actual PS5 titles which have to be played from the internal SSD.

Astros PG, COD, every ps4 game released since June, that yet to be made public of thousand + games that are BC....and some other games that were announced today at gamescon future of games event on gamesradar
You will be able to purchase larger, compatible, internal SSDs off the market when Sony gives the go ahead.

Director Kenji Anabuki revealed during a press keynote that the Xbox One and PS4 versions are targeting 1080p and will run at 30 frames-per-second.
On the other hand, the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions will aim for 4K and will run at 60 FPS.
The Steam version for PC will grant you 4K and 60 FPS if your rig matches the recommended specs.

It is but i really don't think it would have mattered what size SSD they put in the console, someone would have still run out of space unless they got their own.

lol I shoulda mentioned it but in PlayStations France page they got this videos set to private and they may be for September’s conference/direct show thing.
they should just sell their film division already, stick to just supplying the tools (cameras, speakers, headsets, etc) for artist and make PlayStation their primary focus...besides spiderman into the spiderverse has their been any memorable and at least good film produced in the last decade?
