Compromised PSN Accounts Used to Make Fraudulent Charges

I got that email. Did change my password and my card wasn't charged. I dunno if i should unsync it.

And i don't believe this is Sony's fault. Seems to be like a precaution is all. "You have a weak password so change it" at least that's what i understood from this.

Haven't been robbed of anything on PSN yet. Unlike XBL when i was robbed of 1000+ points that were used on some Fifa sh!t last year.
 
You guys are way too emotionally invested and defensive over this stuff.

This kind of crap has been happening for years on 360, then it starts happening on PSN and if you dare mention it you might as well have clubbed a baby seal? :surprise:

Take a breather, it's really not worth getting bent out of shape over. Just update your password, scan that computer for virii and call it a day. s*** happens.

That's what I do with Xbox. I just buy points and $ cards. Not only can you get them on deal (I just bought 12 month cards for $30), but no worry about hacks or getting burned with an accidental auto-renewal.
 
Dear god...

Nervusbreakdown just tries to create a post warning people of what appeared at the time to be a security issue and everything goes to hell.

What damn crusade I'm running? I don't sit here defending Sony consoles so don't know what the hell u are talking about. I will call out out both Sony and MS if they do something stupid. I never really had much a chance to call out Sony because I didn't own a playstation system until the PS4 came out. I'm not going to be a fanboy like yourself and other posters and talk s*** about a system I don't even own.

Find post of me defending Sony to the death and running a crusade. You won't and you are making stuff up. I'm not making stuff about u when have so many members calling u out about the same thing.

Many members? One person. Oh, two, since you did as well. You've yet to make a single positive post on this site or TeamXbox about the Xbox One and I'd doubt you'd be able to find a negative post you've made about the PlayStation 4. You're entitled to your opinion no matter how wrong you are.
 
It sucks that people get hacked but that's the world we live in. Stop being lazy though and just go to the store and get prepaid cards. It'll save you a lot of trouble.
 
I think it's good that we have a forum where we welcome critical feedback. I'm personally trying to learn how to be a balanced mod, so I welcome any feedback. I quit being a member of another site yesterday, because they had a policy where you couldn't comment on moderator actions -- couldn't even make reference to them or to any moderation policies, or else your post would be deleted. I thought that was ridiculously controlling and left the site in protest. I'm glad we have a forum where people can give their opinion about the moderation of the forum.

However, there is a big difference between constructive complaints/input and just venting/bashing and making accusations, especially when it is done repeatedly. If you're doing the former, I don't think you have anything to worry about. If you're doing the latter, though -- especially if you're doing it over and over -- then I think you are going to run into trouble. That is, the moderators are probably going to step in and stop it, because it is just repetitive and disruptive at that point, not anything constructive.

Someone make a "Compromised Xbox Live Accounts Used to Make Fraudulent Charges" thread, which is about as newsworthy and threadworthy as this is. You already know what the results will be.

During teamxbox era no one had anything positive to say about the X1, but I know I didn't say much about the system since I wasn't posting a lot there after the reveal. I haven't said much about neither console since both been released positive or negative. The only thing I said negative about the PS4 is that I wasn't use to the controller yet since using a 360 most of last gen. As for the X1 the only negative I had said was about its Netflix app sucking. People have been calling u out in other threads not just this thread. Just look at the post u made. You all butt hurt because I haven't said any thing negative about PS4 or a positive about the X1...which isn't true at all. Your attitude is going to kill this site and you need to not side with one side or just name the site TXB2. Site already feels empty as it is.

What would the result be? I'd be curious as to what you feel the result be. Be direct with the answer and not ambiguous.

"Such a thing" has been happening for years to all kinds of online accounts. Xbox Live and PSN accounts are compromised every day. This is as much non-news as World of Warcraft or Xbox Live accounts getting compromised. It's just as newsworthy and accurate to make such a thread.

And a dozen people would report it in minutes and start complaining on the thread about it "not being news", for the same reasons.

I'm not complaining about moderators, but I still think this thread is obvious trolling by some of the same posters (intellivision, mcmasters) that had a FUD party in the PS4 hardware issues thread. In fact intellivision created concern troll threads before on this sub-forum that got deleted.

You're the one laying claims calling me a fanboy. I'm not the one throwing out attempted insults at you. I have no "butt hurt," as you call it. Nobody has called me out other than you and Yoyo. My attitude is going to kill the site? Really? I've gotten far more praise for how the site is run than anything negative. The only two negatives I've received are from you and Yoyo. I guess everyone's so afraid of me because I ban people left and right off this site and I only let positive threads for Xbox and only negative threads for PlayStation. Give me a moment while I go and close the Edge thread in the Xbox section. Just checked, only one person is banned from the site. That was on the first day. And look at the mod team. All are pro-Sony. I don't think any are even getting an Xbox One at all?. I guess I should get rid of them all because it doesn't fit with my fanboy stance?

Like I told Yoyo. You don't like how the site is run, feel free to find one that fits your ideals. There are plenty out there.

So Microsoft has sent out emails to numerous people this week asking them to change their passwords because of suspicious activity that many news outlets have run as a story?

Reading the various threads, I see it's the same old Yoyoniner and consolewarz butting heads with you and PV about being biased.

Pro tip: No matter what you guys do, it will go on forever. So either you and PV have to just accept it and be ready for more accusations about pro-MS/anti-Sony stuff (though they are both the 100% exact opposite of that), or you just say the heck of it and just ban their IP address permanently.

Some other guys seem more pro-Sony lately than the old TXB days..... A7, Valliance etc.... but these guys can back it up and still chime in with good posts in the forum.

Yoyo and consolewarz (just look up their posts from day 1), have been 100% pro-Sony troll posts from the beginning.

Plainview had a good response to this, I'll just repeat his -- if there is a news story with similar content going around right now, where MS is telling XBL subscribers to change their password because of some compromised accounts, and the story is being carried by multiple sites, then put it up. Otherwise, the most generous interpretation I can make is that you are stretching and trying to make a false equivalence.

If there was a similar story about X1, it would stand. There wouldn't be any problem with that kind of story. I think of it almost like a public service, to spread it. Not that Final/NB might not have had mixed motives and a smile on his face as he posted it, lol, but hey, it's relevant info. Anyone who is "butthurt" about this little story really needs to get a grip.

No, that's a red herring. Online accounts of all types, PSN and Xbox included, are compromised daily, so to make a thread singling out PSN for "compromised accounts" is ridiculous FUD and trolling. Accounts are compromised daily. They could just be more proactive about contacting people on suspicious activity, but since they did the right thing to contact people about suspicious activity on their accounts now it's okay to make a misleading FUD thread about it. Cool.

Meanwhile it doesn't matter how many times I say positive things about MS or Xbox games, or that I own a 360 and enjoyed games on it, I get labelled a "fanboy troll" because I point out hypocrisy from posters that do what they falsely accuse me of. Completely disgusting. Just look at the PS4 hardware issues thread compared to the Xbox one for a perfect example.

Yeah, that was the point I was trying to make in that paragraph. It's ok to do that (accuse, berate, vent) once or twice, but beyond that, if you just keep repeating the same stuff over and over, you should not be surprised if you are warned or potentially even banned, since you have made your point long ago, and repeating it is just being disruptive, not constructive in any way.

You're dodging the question, calling it a "red herring," but it sounds like the answer is no -- there is not a similar story making the rounds about MS, asking people to change their passwords, etc.. When there is, and when someone puts it up, and when that thread is locked because it is labelled FUD, then you'll have a point. Until then ... you're making a lot of assumptions.
 
From what I can tell several people have been banned from this section but yeah its sooooooooo biased.

Negative stuff gets posted on both console but at the moment it seems a couple think its unfair anything negative gets posted about the PS 4. Maybe they should moan at IGN for posting the news?

And keep in mind most the users on this site came from TXB which was more pro Sony than MS the last couple months.
 
From what I can tell the mods randomly close threads for going off topic and then de-rail entire threads themselves.

The thread closing is obnoxious as hell.. enjoying a conversation.. spend a few minutes typing up a reply.. "Error. thread closed".

Then you come to a thread like this and see the same moderators involved in a similar discussion.

So it's OK for Anderson to go on and on and on off topic but if we call out that pathological liar VaLLiancE thread gets closed before anyone can get him to finally admit he lied?

I'm all for keeping stuff relatively on topic, but this is an incredibly inconsistent forum and far too many threads are closed.. closing a thread should be a LAST RESORT not some knee jerk thing a mod does any time things go slightly off topic.

I'm pretty sure if the rolls were reversed between ps4 and xb1 this would still be news. Probably only in 720p though?
